Glen and Duane grew up in Racine in the 60s and 70s, where the white population was more than 90%. The black population was around 5%. It wouldn't surprise me if they used the N-word on a regular basis. The reason why Glen was less than sincere with his apology has to do with his surroundings. If he grows up using the N-word, it's not being racist. It's just normal common vocabulary. He went on an interview last year and seemed bothered by the repercussions from his actions.
Duane can't even see the home runs now. He calls it after someone in the stands catches it. Duane also has the nerve to tell Smurph to call water boy--water bud so nobody is offended. He is the only person to bring race up for water boys name.
Who is this embarrassing bad broadcaster doing the TV play by play of the Sacramento A's? She is AWFUL. Terrible voice, zero personality, and always behind in describing the action on the diamond. She gives women sportscasters a bad name. Probably being paid peanuts.
Whenever a broadcaster has been associated with a team such as the Giants, for nearly 40 years, ( as Duane has,) they're usually highly regarded. They have a lot of influence. Duane started his Giants broadcaster as Joe Morgan's cohort on Giants Vision in 1986, In case you didn't know, Duane retired after the 1985 season following a 12 year career as a second baseman with the Giants and Cleceland Indians. .
You can freely use the N word and still your brother can get you fill in gigs. that is power
ReplyDeleteReally? Demonizing the Kuiper family as if they’re part of a vast, hidden conspiracy.
ReplyDeleteI like Duane Kuiper. What’s to criticize?
They are a troika that holds meetings at River Islands.

ReplyDeleteDuane has to be the most dull broadcaster in the Bay Area. Other than his homerun call, there is zero enthusiasm to his play by play.

ReplyDelete"Usually" is the key word. Duane is stale. Kruk is moldy. Same
Deleteold schtick year after year. Both should take their pensions.
