Jon Miller's Unconscionable Act on Giants-A's Exhibition Monday Night

20 comments:

  1. Last year when the A's fans were chanting "Sell the team," just about every visiting team's broadcasters commented on the ownership issues in Oakland, so maybe Miller felt like he already talked about it last year, but maybe he didn't need to have the attendance comment last night.

  2. Is he transitioning?

    1. Give the man some credit. He lost a lot of weight.

    2. So a man eats healthy and loses weight and now we’re asking if he’s transitioning?

    3. How much weight did he lose? It doesn’t mean he also has to lose credibility and lose cojones too. Rich is right to be angry.

    4. 1:06 PM, I wondered the exact same thing when I saw the picture.

  3. Miller got his big break with the A's in '74, but after just one season, they told him to take a hike. He still hasn't forgiven the A's.

  4. Let me see if I have this right.... Miller notes that it's a small crowd, it gets Rich so angry that he has to say "I'm angry" 3 times and then go on a 5 minute rant about all the reasons why it was small and that Miller didn't mention any of them? ANYONE LISTENING TO AN ATHLETICS EXHIBITION GAME ALREADY KNOWS!

What a stupid thing to get angry about.

    1. Life is too short. This was not something to get so agitated about.

  5. I was listening to the ballgame and heard Jon's comments. As a reporter, he was merely stating a fact about attendance at the Oakland Coliseum. There are things to knock Jon Miller about, but this just isn't one of them.

  6. Both Oakland and SF will have tough times drawing this year. After Fisher shat on Oakland, why anyone would support the money-grubber is beyond me.
The Giants have billionaire Charles Johnson (and his fascist political policies) as their owner. I cannot give him one thin dime.

On top of all this are athletes who make millions but cannot play because of strains, pains, coughs, and flatulence. Only out of shape athletes pull such lame stunts.

    1. Facist? Jeez, grow up, will you? Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them evil.

  7. Speaking of the Giants, what seems incredulous to some is how the San Francisco Chronicle continues to allow Susan Slusser to cover the team despite a past romantic relationship with manager Bob Melvin's daughter, which possibly began when Melvin was the A's manager and Slusser covered the team. Talk about major conflict of interests! Maybe your spies know more about this. I know you have been critical of the Chron in the past. Keep up the good work, Rich.

    1. Susan Slusser and Alexi Melvin?? That's the first I've heard of that.

  8. Rich, get a grip! It wasn’t a newscast-it was a play-by-play broadcast where the announcers are paid by the team they represent. They aren’t journalists!!!! PXP announcers have never been journalists! They’re storytellers who describe what’s happening in game to people who aren’t there to see it in person. Vin Scully was the greatest narrator of all-time! He made those of us who couldn’t see the game - see the game in our minds. Jon Miller does a great job of that and entertains us as well. Stop evaluating him as if he is a journalist! He isn’t a journalist. He’s a play-by-play broadcaster … PERIOD!
