Friday Fast Lane; Heat Wave Brings Predictable Coverage; Excess Steve Moskowitz; Don Sanchez/Cheryl Jennings Late Night Spirit; KRON Staff No Confidence in ND/GM; Chronicle Print Edition Thin Slice; Raj OK, Janelle? Meh; Underrated: Gary Rebstock; Anna Chavez: Beauty and Grace

LIFE IN THE FAST LANE

We have a heat wave and everyone goes crazy.

TV people especially.

The constant is constant: an inevitable trip to the Walnut Creek fountain where kids will be eating ice cream and reporter asks: "are you feeling hot?" I wish the kid would roll their eyes.

Matt Bigler, an otherwise good reporter for KCBS, was out in Livermore this morning asking folks if they were prepared. Matt, you're in Livermore, what the hell do you think?!

*I was already sick of Steve Moskowitz before I heard him on the radio, again, again, and again...and again. Enough already!

*I would bet that Moskowitz is a Trumper.

*When Don Sanchez was still doing his thing at KGO, he and Cheryl Jennings used to hang out together at The Top of The Mark. Let's just say they weren't discussing Middle East relations.

*KRON staff, the bulk of them at least, have lost faith in ND, Josh Paleksky and GM, Jim Rose.

How that translates into future goings-on at KRON is probably par for the course. At KRON, they're used to working with whole lots of turbulence.

*If The San Francisco Chronicle print edition is still around come the new year, that's a story only it won't be on the paper's front page come Jan. 1st, right? Right.

*I like Raj Mathai, his personal life is just that, personal.

I watch Raj to give me the news. What he does off camera is his business.

*Janelle Wang lots of potential but I said that ten years ago.

*Underrated Circle7 anchor, Gary Rebstock. Miss his demeanor and fluidity.

Rebstock read the news, did so with grace and never needed to shout or make waves, just did his job.

*Anna Chavez at KPIX: beauty and understated passion, all the while reading the teleprompter with dignity.

Anna quit the business way, way too early because of a real personal tragedy that needs to be repeated.

    1. Sanchez and Jennings are still friends on Facebook so you know what that means...

You honestly believe the crap you read on this site?

    1. Barely. The new GM Jim Rose is running the station into the ground. The staff has zero confidence in him.

    1. The alternative is way better than someone who pretended he didn’t know who the Grand Wizard of the KKK was when the Grand Wizard endorsed him. Just this week Senator Tommy Tuberville made some downright ignorant remarks about White Nationalists.

      Yeah I’ll take the alternative.

  4. The person KRON should have take over for Pam Moore isn't Catherine Heenan (too old, only works 4 days a week) or Vicki Liviakis (doesn't want it), or Justine Waldman (having a husband and wife cover all of your station's prime time hours is a baaaaad idea if things should go south) or Noelle Bellow (there's no there there). The person they should go with is Ella Segomonian who has very quietly honed her skills over a number of years. I see no flaws.

    1. Meanwhile we're sending a reporter to Rich's kitchen where it's reported to be hot. According to the weather computer the source is a large stake and a potato on the stove. More info as it comes in... haha

    2. It's the coolest and partly cloudiest July in my 70 years living in SF, global warming and climate my a**

    3. You can't judge by just one season. Climate change happens over time it is not just one season or a few weeks. Other parts like Arizona is very hot.

    1. Anna Chavez appealed to me because she was real, Not plastic like so many anchors are today. Smiled when happy, didn’t frown on command. Seemed like she liked, and was liked (by), her co-workers.
Did not know she had tragedy befall her. But that was in the olden days when nobody made their lives public, and self-promoting.
(PS, when will Raj get a proper Tailor? His outfits are “so cute” they can be found in the boys section at Kohl’s before Easter)

  8. What's KRON ... it's still missing from my Directv ... Not much of a loss. Don't see your readers complaining about it ... you neither.

    2. KRON is now on YouTube TV. Don't laugh.. you'll appreciate the better video quality and a DVR that works.

    3. Don’t carry much for KRON, but missing KTLA, who has some of the finest women anchors and reporters in news. I guess I can always stream it, but it is not the same.

  9. I liked Rebstock, but he had an uncharacteristic malaprop meltdown (a la Jessica Savitch) during one evening newscast. I don't know if he was sick, tired, or what, but he was definitely out of sorts. Anyone can have a bad day, and that was the case for Gary on that occasion. Soon after he was gone, and I've never seen him on air since.

  10. Had a class with Anna Chazez at Sj state in 73, the "philosophy of Religion". She came in silently and left like she was shot out of a cannon. She rushed to a car waiting for her. Never had interaction with anyone except for the professor. Never did get what was up with her. Heard later a stalker was following her, odd.

  12. Isn't the middle of July supposed to be hot? Thank God we're not in Phoenix, where it doesn't get below 90, at night...

  13. To quote the late, great Nipsy Russell, “the spring as sprung the fall has fell we’re in the middle of July and it’s hotter than usual”. PG Match Game version.

  14. Which is worse, KRON or the Oakland A's? Both pitiful.

  15. Moskowitz has an excellent toupee. You don't get to see that on the radio.

  16. Can we stop with EVERYTHING being related to global warming. It gets hot in the summer and we have forest fires!
