In this instance, PIX (CBS News Bay Area) deserves all the credit--and of course Yu herself, for asking the right questions; for confronting Ms. Price with inquires about questionable decisions regarding important cases that have had a profound, (mostly negative) impact on the people who live in Alameda County.
Yu is persistent and determined in her sitdown with DA Price,as she should be. She's polite and concise even if Price isn't. The DA doesn't come off looking well here and part of that is due to Betty Yu's questioning.
I commend KPIX (for a change). I would like to see more of this and especially Yu's talent, it's rather remarkable and, as I stated, something we should see a lot more of.The FULL INTERVIEW, courtesy KPIX/XBS-SF
Congratulations to Betty for showing the DA's true colors. Pamela Price is a disaster for Alameda County at just the time that they need the opposite approach. For those who like modern country music, try listening to Jason Aldean's new single "Try That In A Small Town". It is spot on about the difference between small towns and cities like Oakland.
ReplyDeleteI saw the headline article on Yahoo about his song. People seem to finally be waking up to the party in charge and what they're doing to society.
DeleteHave her interview Nany Pelosi, Gavin and Joe without a script or predetermined questions next.
DeleteI've lived in a small town. Aldean should change the lyrics to: "everybody 'talks behind' your back in a small town" rather than 'has your back' cuz that's what happens. Anyway, I love the age old city smart vs country tough positioning. Makes for good movies and good songs (even if I don't like this one as its too contrived).
DeleteIsn't is amusing that so many so-called "patriots" like Mr. Aldean have never read the constitution. The flag is not what we swear an oath to protect. One can burn a flag without any legal consequences as long as you own that flag. The first amendment protects the speech that many most hate. The ironies abound in the Aldean case, as he recovers from his diarrhea stage-leaving drama. Dangling a crucifix around your neck to show how holy you are and then promoting violence is one of them.
DeleteI find it rather odd that Rich’s article mentioned nothing about Aldean, yet down the rabbit hole go the obviously biased and uninformed.
DeleteThe article was about reporting and putting some pressure on a civic official. Rich thought it good reportage, maybe you Aldean afficionados can opine on the report by Betty Yu?
Small town West Virginia, KY, Tennessee: rampant methamphetamine use and deaths by Fetanyl overdose. Somehow Aldean forgot that aspect of America, but who cares about stupid hicks shooting up the neighborhood?
DeleteI look forward to seeing Betty Yu’s interview.
Why would Rich talk about Aldean? It looks like his video is only a topic of conversation in the right-wing media bubble.
DeleteBTW, I watched the video, and can understand why it was banned by CMT. While I'm no fan of the soft-on-crime movement, the video was uncomfortable to watch because it suggests that it's patriotic to shoot protesters and shoplifters.
Price is just telling us she knows best and letting the criminals reoffend is true social justice.
ReplyDeletePeople who think Alameda county does not have the courage to recall her are wrong. she has blown several high profile cases already and she barely won in November. Of cycle recall will benefit the motovated recall voters.
Jason Aldean and the songwriters of this song are morons. What is the difference in shooting someone in a small town vs a big town? Nothing. Its still shooting someone. And that ain't the answer, pal.
ReplyDeleteWaldman is making noises on Instagram about something good happening soon. Sounds like she's getting a promotion of some sort or her screen time is being expanded in the afternoon. The fact that KRON has not been using her much as a sub at all in primetime suggests it's the latter.
ReplyDeleteI love Betty's Twitter. She posts regular content that our elected Democrat leaders don't want anyone to see.
ReplyDeleteAgree, Rich, this was old school journalism at its finest, and Betty Yu deserves major kudos.
ReplyDeleteBackground and context add to the interview segment, https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/alameda-county-district-attorney-pamela-price-responds-recall-effort-critics/?intcid=CNM-00-10abd1h
ReplyDeleteWho chimed in and interupted with a question on this segment?
ReplyDeletePrice's PR flack, her third in six months. She wanted to make sure her client was being shown "in a good light." (If she actually prosecuted some cases that might help.)
DeleteIt was Price's PR person. The PR person wanted Betty to ask more flattering questions.
Deletethanks
DeleteMore flattering questions? Like how to you look so graceful ignoring justice for those who deserve it?
DeleteI very seldom see local news anymore (by choice as it's mostly not worth watching) however I did see this interview and I would tend to agree with your assessment. I have always thought Betty Yu was very good at her job.
ReplyDeleteNot interested unless she is replaced! We know what is going on with real facts
ReplyDeletePamela Price needs to be recalled! Plain and simple... I live in Alameda County and am Caucasian. But she and her merry band of do-gooders (for the criminals) means my safety, my children's safety, and every person in Alameda County's safety is AT RISK! We can't even drive safely on a freeway in Alameda County without fear of being shot or hit by a stray bullet. I have friends who are Hispanic, Asian, Black, etc. We all want her gone! So I guess that makes us "insurrectionists" because a bad DA is doing a terrible job. She did take money from George Soros. It's well documented on unbiased websites. You just have to dig because Google protects her and hides the information. Also, Change.org has a petition up to recall her: https://www.change.org/p/recall-alameda-county-da-pamala-price Thank you Betty Yu for a fair, hard hitting, factual interview.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, remember, people of Alameda "ELECTED" her, only SF idiots wised up and got rid of boudin, don't see Alameda's population doing so
DeleteI live in Alameda County and am African American. I want Pamela Price recalled. Her race is not a factor. Her insistence on fighting the system instead of making it work is the issue.
DeleteThank you @9:45am I am so glad to hear you say that. We need to spread the word that Pamela Price not should but needs to be recalled. Let's try to work together and get the message out to everyone in Alameda County. @8:58pm Ye, you're right. The majority of voters "elected" her but we have to try and wake people. Do you want to continue to live in an area where the scumbags drive our freeways like Mad Max in Road Warrior? Car jackings? Strong armed robberies similar to the one recently in Oakland of an 80 year old man from Peru selling ice cream? Cowards pull a gun on him for $120 and he feared for his life! Shoplifters? Gun violence? Let me ask you this Bay Area... is this the type of community you want to live in? If not, they wake up and do the right thing. Eventually enough people are going to get "mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore." Thanks for listening. Stay safe.
DeleteFact checking.... "the DA's role has really no impact on crime." Wrong! Criminals turn to a life of crime because they don't want to work and want to take the "easy way out" or addict to drugs.
ReplyDeleteHow can she say that? If you don't prosecute or give lenient sentences, the criminals know this and will flock to your city/county to commit crimes
DeleteI watched the whole interview you linked. I don't get it, I don't see any hard hitting journalism or tough questions. Just more of the same BS. Good journalism means you bring receipts, not just questions that any decent attorney can dance right past. You've got to nail them with facts, not softballs. Other than being completely boring, there's nothing there that would lead me to think Betty Yu is anything special.
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela.
DeleteThere is no “there” there.
Delete@4:20 Hahahahaha! Nailed it!!!!!!!!
Deletehahaha thanks Pamela!
DeleteAgree. Betty’s approach was gotcha journalism and quite sensational
DeleteRich, I agree with you 100% on Betty Yu, solid interview, really exposed pamela price's true take on social justice, clearly can see she's 1,000 progressive and leans toward no bail, no jail and no enhancements to truly horrid crimes, good luck Alameda, SF just got rid of their bum DA (Good Lord, he's a prof @ UC Berkeley)
ReplyDeleteThe DA doesn't need anyone to make her look bad because she does that any time she is on television with her bad wigs. What a disgrace! If you want to see a good hit piece read up on the now resigned Marin DA who Price was representing against his employer while he was on paid admin leave. He now works for her. Many people resigned from Marin because of him and the toxic work environment he created.
ReplyDeleteHere is the hit piece article. Price represented this loser and now he works for her. Let the recall begin.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.marinij.com/2023/07/10/marin-files-detail-misconduct-allegations-against-senior-prosecutor/
Betty is awesome.
ReplyDeleteBetty Yu's Twitter game is strong! I'm a fan - thanks Rich
ReplyDeleteI have always thought Betty Yu's reporting was excellent and consistent. Even wondered what she was doing working at KPIX. She is smart. The story was well told. Alameda County is in big trouble with this woke DA in charge and I fear for the residents.
ReplyDeleteBetty Yu did a fantastic job. I didn't think there is a DA that makes Chesa Boudin look good, Pamela Price is doing that.
ReplyDeleteThere is still no DA that makes Chesa look good.
DeletePrice is 1A for sure
Delete@10:10 You forgot gascon
DeleteI would rather have Gascon over Price and Boudin. That is not saying much.
Delete@3:49 Wrong, he's gotten much more progressive since being LA's DA, even gang members he released love him and one even tattooed his forehead giving gascon gratitude
DeleteThanks for this info, Rich. As a resident of Alameda County, I'm going to join the recall effort!
ReplyDeleteThere wasn’t any gotcha questions.
ReplyDeleteBasic SF State Journalism 101 questions.
A dream come true for a criminal would be for Pamela Price to be the prosecuting attorney. The Lincoln Lawyer she ain’t.
Did Lieberman actually say this was a "Masterful interview"? LOL, you need a doctor, Richard
ReplyDeleteGood enough get, but I’m not sure what she got beyond FaceTime and a campaign speech. Those questions came from a script. Where were the follows? The challenges? The conversational element did not exist.
ReplyDeleteRight? Pamela Price had so many statements that desevered a follow up question. I believe she said there are hundreds of thousands of crime victims in Alameda County. Good grief even I would have followed up with a “Really? Hundreds of thousands of crime victims.”.
DeleteI ❤️ Betty Yu!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteAlameda County - go fuck yourself! Deserve this for voting for Price just like SF voted for Chesa Boudin
ReplyDeleteNot all of us did! I tried to warn people NOT to vote for her. However, what if they let her and Sheng Tao "steal" the election with all those mail-in ballots that pulled off amazing come from behind victories for them both. Regardless, hope you don't roll through Alameda County and become a victim.
