Kuiper/Kruk Fake Journalists Society; "Live 105" Rebirth: Yawn; Alex Bennett Schmoozes with Lori Thompson; KRON, Bring Back "Bay TV"'; Hey, Baggs? STFU Advice; Sunday Streets

SUNDAY STREETS...

Gotta laugh.

The so-called "journalists" didn't even bother to ask Duane Kuiper himself what his plans are.

"Are you retiring?""Can you comment on the RL report?"

No, they just took the Mike Krukow line as if he's tied to the hip of Kuiper. For all we know, he's Mike Kuiper and Duane is Duane Krukow.

Fine journalism.

Read the story. I'm not back-peddling. Kuiper told various people he was done. That's what I wrote and that's what I stand by. The story is good and whatever else, make your own observation.

If Kuiper wants to come out and refute it, fine. But I'm sticking with what I wrote.

And Mike Krukow, Trumpian and all, can go shove it.

*I'm supposed to get excited that "Live 105" is coming back. Yeah, I couldn't sleep without it, seriously folks.

I'll get excited when Bill Graham makes a visit from heaven and introduces Jerry Garcia.

*There's a rumor KGO Radio is coming back but all the hosts are working at KCBS.

*Suddenly toxic to the ears: Pat Thurston. Chuckles run amok.

*Real authentic Live 105: here's Alex Bennett and Lori Thompson schmoozing the other day on Bennet's YouTube "Ramble."

*If KRON suits don't bug Nexstar boss, Perry Sook and tell him to pony up for a reinvention of Bay TV, then KRON is doomed. They have the means, the personnel and the cash. They could take over the Bay Area and present a new, dynamic news alternative.

Will it cost dough? Of course but not as much as you would think.

There's ad bucks out there and then some.

There's Silicon Valley and tech money supreme, even with massive layoffs. Your IPhone isn't going away.

KRON, take the initiative and just do it.

*Message to Andy Baggarly: my advice, quit whille you're ahead.

Don't mess with an angry Jewish guy whose dad knew Meyer Lansky.

  2. Nobody is going to reboot Bay TV just to give you something to watch. ALL TV news is dead. I won’t reveal which station because it will likely “out” the person who told me, but one of the “big five” is seriously contemplating ending all newscasts, probably within a year. Get ready for more shows like “The Real.” Seriously.

    1. Big 5 I suppose are FOX (KTVU), NBC Bay Area, KRON4, CBS (KPIX), and ABC (KGO7). Are there more? Who are little?

  5. It has already happened at some stations in some smaller markets like Medford, Oregon. Sinclair Broadcasting, in bankruptcy due to a disastrous purchase of some local/regional sport networks that were bleeding money, pulled the plug on local broadcasts at five of their smaller stations.
Given that many companies are cutting costs due to the expenses occurred by streaming, I can see at least one station cutting all newscasts. I won't venture any guesses, but with the owners of three major studios with streaming services operating three of the Bay Area's network affiliates, that may narrow it down.

  8. I agree with RL on his reporting of the potential Kuiper retirement. I haven't seen one comment from Duane through the Giants beat writers. Are Krukow or Baer his spokespersons?

  9. I watched Bay TV a lot in the 1990s, but something was odd about it. It might have been the cable provider's fault. The picture was hazy and balky and made Evan White, Emerald Yeh, etc look almost robotic sometimes.

    1. Susan Blake was magnificent on BayTV. The ONLY reason to tune in.

    2. I worked with Susan Blake at KRON and she was one of my all-time favorite anchors. It was a pleasure to work and just be around her.

  11. Bay Area sports "journalists" are lazy and cowardly in their approach to local teams. They rarely criticize or dare question at risk of banishment or not getting access. I don't regret cancelling my Chron subscription a few years ago.

  12. Meyer Lansky has been dead for 40 years. Not sure if he’s still pullin’ strings or simply pushin’ daisies.
Kook an Tripe need to calm down. They talk about a game, a game where they both made a boatload of moolah. Good for them. Long may they run.
Baggerly a politico? WTF! Never heard him say anything other than chatting about the game of baseball. If his opinions offend you, change the channel !! Easy.

  13. Pat Thurston DOES NOT WORK as a news anchor on KCBS! She needs to be "re-assigned"....

  14. Is Krukow a Trumper? I always had a suspicion.
