KCBS again had to rely on ex-KGO tonsils and some of the newsroom peeps were not so thrilled.
"We have more than adequate fill-ins but I guess she (ND, Jenny Seelig) has her pecking order, " a staffer told me.
The KGO retreads comes a few weeks after Burkhart paired with Pat Thurston, a former KGO talk host who has been doing fill-in work.
KCBS, owned by penny-stock Audacy, continues to operate on the cheap and sounds, again, like the eternal shit show it is.Hiring boring, benign, biz-as-usual castoffs from fallen radio stations has become the newest tentacle of the shit show.
"Wow", indeed, Bret.
Why is Nikki sought after?
ReplyDeleteLike a yeast infection that you can't quite shake. Probably got it from Chimp.
ReplyDeletePretty soon they'll sound like Andy Griffith on the plane radio in No Time for Sargeants. "Hello? Helllllloo? Helllllloo? Pfft pfft"
ReplyDeleteListened to Pat the other day for a little while. Had to turn it off. She is definitely not a news anchor. I grade pretty easy.
ReplyDeleteEven if a person is having a bad day there is something there that shows the person has talent. Unfortunately she did not have talent.
When I listened to her on KGO, I thought Nikki had a nice voice. Something changed?
ReplyDeleteHer dialogue with Chimp turned off a lot of people. She isn't as intelligent as she thinks she is.
DeleteShe has difficulty with subject-verb agreement. It’s embarrassing.
DeleteI've been a 35-year listener of KCBS. I don't get all the hate. I listen at the top of the hour for the nat'l news....and then for the next 10-15 minutes for any breaking local stuff. And then I switch back to my bluetooth music. I don't want to hear any features...or investigative shit. Just tell me what's going on when if I check in. I save the features and investigative stuff for online news sites.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried SXM?
DeleteAsk Ms.Seelig where she dug up Mr Guiness with the Lisp on the overnight news?
ReplyDeleteForget KCBS, get SirusXM, you'll be happier
ReplyDelete“Helio?! HELLO!!!? Is this thing on?!” KCBS news anchors.
ReplyDeleteAccording to a KCBS management, “ we’re going through a really tough time attracting advertising.”
ReplyDeleteThere is truth to that statement as the traditional media, ( radio, TV and print,) now have to share the revenue pie with the internet. But that doesn’t excuse hiring mediocre and inexperienced news anchors and reporters when there are still plenty of pros with years of work in the industry out there. News Director Jennifer Seelig continues to hire newbies and retreads because she’s afraid the soulless suits such as Audacy’s sleazy CEO David Field will shove her out the door. Audacy uses this argument of diminishing advertising revenue to justify downsizing and cheapening a once-respectable and credible news source such as KCBS. But they have also done the same thing to almost all of their other “properties” around the country. The soulless mega companies who have driven out competition are the bane of our once proud radio profession.
