The mood at Channel 2 is more gloomier than ever and the latest ho-lee-fuck is drawing scowls and misery from inside The Firm and all the way to Oakland.
As usual the absentee GM is once again MIA.
*KRON people suddenly have an issue (or two), with the ND who has Aaron Pero DNA.
*Nextstar, KRON's thrifty owner, is keen on shaving considerable expenses at 900 Front which should make Ken Wayne and a few others a little nervous this (Monday) morn.
*If hubby, Grant Lodes is the one who urged his wife, Justine Waldman to pose and (take those pictures), well then, that would be kind of, interesting.
*Look PIX, you made changes and tweaked the furniture, great, but you need to start becoming interesting and engaging. Ryan Yamamoto is a total nothing burger; he should be sent back to Seattle. Liz Cook is ok but seriously underwhelming. Juliette Goodrich is fine but maybe a co-anchor? PIX, you need serious tinkering.
*That Stockton serial murder story (and subsequent arrest) deserves more insight and investigative reporting but we have zilch as reporters here and that's just sad.
*From the KPIX newsroom: Lisa White, so far the staff is very, very, disappointed.
Since the Stockton guy turned out to be black the Clown Planet media quickly lost interest.

Goodrich's spot definitely needs something. Perhaps report the daily news stories and leave out all the constant social justice garbage.Believe it or not we also have a very large population of normal strait folks that hardly ever make the news anymore.

ReplyDeleteBTW - What's the update on that listing for KPIX listing the morning & noon weather anchor role? Is Jessica getting replaced? Friday & today, Peck filled in for Burch, while on Sunday night (11pm), Peck left early and left Hackney to do the weather. I thought because of the changes, Hackney would rarely do the weather. They need to at least have another meteorologist in addition to the few they have.
Also, Saturday, I'm not sure how often it is that Gianna will do sports, but I think compared to Vern, she is as good as Andrea. It's good she gets to do traffic, anchoring and sports. Charlie is not too bad either.

DeleteI believe there’s a YT video from back when there was Eye in the Bay many many years ago regarding this earthquake but also covering the faults in general. Brian Hackney covered that too (apart from other videos). It is fascinating to watch.
DeleteExcept for him at the anchoring desk, it’s very rare to see him on the field now (sometimes he would and then come to a weekday evening newscast to present a report to the viewers & the other anchor(s), like one housing issue).
The only time Hackney & Goodrich can be on a newscast at some point is if Hackney is doing the weather on a weekday filling in for Paul Heggen. But so far it’s been Darren Peck (provided he’s not filling in for morning in that same day on a weekday). This may happen in December as it did happen the past 2 years but unless Burch or any weekday AM/Noon meteorologist (not Peck) works on those weekdays during the holiday weeks, then Peck would do the afternoon/evening time.

ReplyDeleteThe New York Times reported on the alleged serial killer’s arrest a couple of days ago, but refrained publishing the mug shot. They went instead with a photo of police announcing the arrest.

I don't know Lisa White but I'm not surprised at the disappointment given the mess that is the morning show. It is full of amateurs with no real skills or knowledge of the Bay. And why did they go to solo shows? It looks cheap.
ReplyDeleteLisa White basically failed up. They HAD to give her the job she was passed over multiple times for or face legal ramifications. She is unfit and unqualified and was halfway out the door anyway. Scott is calling all the shots. He brought in his own people aka Pam Woon to carry out his vision and her presence is threatening to Lisa White. And then Lisa White is left scrambling to exert any semblance of "power." She lives a sad existence.

ReplyDeleteGood question. Months ago Rich did mention that PIX all hands staff meeting where every anchor/reporter was affected.
DeleteThis has happened since August with minor changes like Hackney being all alone. He’s still a great anchor but must be very sad being separated from Goodrich…while it doesn’t matter, he doesn’t introduce himself like anyone else “Good evening I’m Brian Hackney…” and just starts out with “We begin tonight with….”. Everyone else does do their introduction too. He used to do both.
Other than that he’s a good anchor/reporter but at least has Peck and the sports anchors to talk to in the newscast. It was this past Sunday evening only at 11 he was also doing the weather alone….weird but it was only because Peck had to wake up the next morning and work Burch’s AM shift.
