Saturday SF Corn Flakes; KCBS' Taylor is a Boob; Makovec- Sovern Mush

I USED TO LIKE Jim Taylor.

Now he's a self-absorbed ego-maniac schmuck.

Taylor, the KCBS reporter, is so full of himself, he manages to place his voice in every actuality --as if we want to hear him; as if he thinks he's bigger than the story he's reporting on. Taylor regards himself as some sort of sage and funny, wise guy.

I regard him as heartburn.

When Taylor was a CBS Radio news anchor, he was fairly solid and good. Not great, mind you, but better than average and worthy of a listen.

I guess Taylor thought his network chops allowed him to butt in to every news report, as if he's superior and some on-the-road wise guy. Well, Jim, you're not a sage, you're a bore and you need to lose the ego trip and report the story. I know it's tough but you can pull it off.

*Yes, I PICKon KCBS because it's garbage and an everyday train wreck. I'm not going to not pick on KCBS because some moron is being allowed to bury it into the ground. If that's a problem for some of you, well I'm sorry.

*KCBS used to be a steady diet of breaking news, local coverage, solid anchors and reliable repoters who not only performed well, but KNEW the region and knew what the hell they were covering. Now? What a total abomination.

*Even the KPIX (CBS) Anne Makovec--Doug Sovern feature has seen better days.

Makovec doesn't ask any interesting questions and Sovern, a political pro, seems intent on being boring and evasive. Why, I don't know. But it's all pretty much a mess.

*The MEDIOCRITY in this area is so compelling.
