New KRON Weekend PM Anchor Dan Thorn Paid His Dues

"The guy has chops", a former, veteran KRONvict told me about new KRON weekend evening anchor, Dan Thorn.

Probably does and his NY roots likely adds to his news acumen. I haven't seen much of Thorn's work but several people tell me he's quite good and knows his stuff. Always a good sign for anchoring and it helps Thorn worked in news in NY and has quite a lengthy resume and pedigree.

Thorn has been at KRON since October, 2018.

"He's paid his dues," a Channel 4 figure also says of Thorn.

Good for KRON and good for Bay Area TV News viewers.

    I watched this guy doing fill in anchor work...steady...straightforward no axe to grind...good for him!

    Dan Thorn and Stephanie Lin are exceptional additions to KRON, adding much needed professionalism and gravitas.

    BTW, looks like "LT Jessica Burch" (is it normal to put rank on-screen when the staffer is CaNG?) started at KPIX this week.

      Its pretty annoying when people have to brag about their rank like that. The worst is Washington DC correspondent Major Garrett at CBS News. Geez, dude give it a break once in a while!

    Have you seen the new weather person in Kpix in the morning? I appreciate her service in Air Force but she seems like deer in headlights on tv. When Amanda asked about her background in 2 difft segments, she repeated her milupitary service. She didn't say where she is from, family info etc. She doesn't have to give her home address but if she wants audience to warm up to her, she needs to warm up as well. Bring back Paul or Brian.

      If all she wants to talk about publicly is her military service, or even her milupitary service, that is her right.
      She may not want to share family info—that's her business. You don't need to know about one's family to get weather information...Do you know the family business of your plumber? Bank teller? Auto mechanic? Dry cleaner?

      I don't care about her family or her military service but I do agree that the male meteorologists are preferable, if only because they don't wear tight striped dresses.
