KGO/ Cumulus Didn't Pay Rothmann to Talk on Saturdays; Muzzle Patrol at SF Cluster; Chris Cuomo Post 86 Seen at Perry's; KNBR PD Graham Not Happy; Monday Mush

SO BENT ON WORKING SATURDAYS, KGO RADIO TALKER, JOHN ROTHMANN, was NOT PAID when he broadcast the better part of a year and a half--from the early days of the pandemic until this past September. Only did Rothmann find out, at the late stages of his contract re-up did he discover the clear omission. The problem for KGO and Cumulus: the union (Sag-Aftra) knows.

*In their ardent attempt to MUZZLE the existing talk-show hosts, KGO management (Cumulus) told staff, under no certain terms, NOT to say anything about the system-wide CUTS and FIRINGS--most staffers complied but Mark Thompson spent a good ten minutes lamenting the loss of his producer (some guy named Albert) and was later reprimanded by a Cumulus suit, in LA, no less. Maybe the clouds threatened Marko witn an extra ticket to the Christmas party at the Fisherman's Wharf Jack-in-the Box.

*When Cumulus declarews its second BK, (rumored any day now), yes, KGO will be DONE, like in DEAD DONE, probably a la WABC.KABC...a taped, bloated frequency with financial shows, vitamin, preacher programs, etc, the virtual END of any iota of news-talk in the Bay Area.

*Rothmann himself doesn't need the money. He comes from well-off Levi's family but even so, the union will come down hard on Cumulus (KGO) --when you knowingly do not pay someone, it's a serious VIOLATION of the most basic labor-management agreement. It's beyond belief that Cumulus doesn't know that.

*Chris Cuomo was so despondent CNN fired him, he and his wife were at Perry's Friday night, presumably not talking about his broather or Jeff Zucker.

*The new PD at KNBR (Kevin Graham) had quite a meeting on Monday to tell his staff that a 3-point DROP in the ratings is not a good way to impress a new boss.

*One day soon, Adam Copeland will REPLACE fellow mutt, Paulie Mac on mornings so Cumulus can save cash and Paulie Mac can get off by playing with his music box. It'll save the clouds a ton of money.

*John Lund is also on borrowed time too ..."like he said."

*Lund can now go collect more baseball cards.

  1. Maybe KGO will bring back great liberal minds/talkers like Ethan Bearman, Tim Montemayor (The Monty Show!), DreX and of course that ratings grabber Karel!

    1. I'm not a big supporter of Karel, but he DID provide some interesting talk, aside from his blather about his love life. He may not be everyone's cup of tea, but he was entertaining.

I don’t support someone that stole blank checks out of a certain comedienne’s purse during his second employment with KGO.

    3. Definitely not Montemayor, he was insufferable, Drex just boring as hell, Ethan got better after he stopped with all the lifestyle talk. Karel, I was hot and cold on Karel, he had some good shows, others he was just way out there, seemed like he often mouthed off without thinking through what he was saying. So for most part I would say no, Ethan would be the most likely.

  3. I'm not convinced Chris Cuomo deserved to be fired. I don't know enough at this point, but from what I do know, some woman who worked with Cuomo 15 years ago had an attorney make some accusations that got Cuomo fired 15 years later. The attorney wants her client to remain anonymous but Cuomo is publicly fired. I'm not buying it (for now).

    1. Mr. Cuomo always presented himself as the zenith of journalistic accomplishment, condescendingly talking to the other news/opinion anchors on CNN, as in "Good job, Biff", as if he were the arbiter of style and substance. Behind the scenes, he was conflicted to the gills, didn't care, used his position and his connections to dig up dirt on his brother's myriad accusers, and affect a story his network was covering. This is not okay, not ethical, and not acceptable for a news organization which needs credibility to survive. That he had his brother's grabby hands, no consequences point of view vis a vis women is utterly unsurprising. The question now is will his perfect family and perfect wife which he always pimps as ideal, buy his bullshit.

    2. Well said. Spot on.

    3. Would he have gotten his job if his last name wasn't Cuomo? I doubt it.

    4. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Look at you Craft. Many of us know the dirty work you did for Micky Luckoff but you didn’t get fired. Cuomo tried to help his brother. Leave him alone.

    5. "not acceptable for a news organization which needs credibility to survive."

You mean CNN, the network run by Jeff Zucker, that had a few former employees come out as whistleblowers about how CNN anchors were forced by Zucker to spin anything in regards to President Trump to the negative because of a grudge he had going back to their days together on The Apprentice? That CNN? Nothing could be positive. Everything had to appear in a negative light, even what was written on the chyrons. That network?

I don't really think they give a shit about the credibility thing, Christine.

    7. I'm fascinated, 7p, and 11:02.. what precisely are you talking about? I'm dying to know what "dirty work" I did for Mr. Luckoff? I did fill in for 20 years..that's it. We shared two interests, dog abuse and good radio.. I dare you to elucidate what you are alleging? Got any guts? I'm waiting. Kitty got your tongue?

    8. What dirty work did Christine Craft do for Micky Luckoff, please explain. Christine was a fill in host back when KGO had great ratings. She was a very good host, I didn't always agree with her, but she knew her stuff and often had a different and interesting take on an issue. Although liberal she was not predictable which is one of the things that made her intersting.

  4. I thought CCrane sponsored John's show as he used to plug their products and I believe stated that's why he did Saturdays?

  5. Gotta give Mark Thompson credit, he had the guts to say goodbye to Albert on air. Mark had nothing to lose, the station is just a few breaths away from dead. . Hope the station waits till after the Holidays to terminate the last of the crew.

  6. John Rothman loves KGO so much he would pay the station to be on the air

  8. I doubt john " I want to know what you think" rothman was that bothered he wasn't paid, hes just happy to be on the air as much as he can and yes he does seem very wealthly..

  9. Kevin Graham may remove Lewd and Paulie Mac? Cool!

  10. Kim mentioned on the Rothman Shows first hour that the cloud was broke! How long will her key card work?

  11. I would have been happy if they just repeated Rothmann from 7-10. It seems tone deaf to put on a national financial show with someone speaking a bad southern accent on Bay Area in the evenings.

  12. Idiots at KGO radio are now...9:30PM running the Ramsey Show after running the Ben Shapiro show for the first 25 minutes after the 9:00Pm news.
Who is the knucklehead connecting the feeds.
Does he even look at the KGO schedule?
By the way, does anyone ever understand Shapiro's imitation of Joe Isuzu... What is with the barely understandable "speed talk" ?

    1. I listened to KGO last night I did not hear Ben Shapiro he is on KSFO, he has one of worst radio voices I heard in a long time. Dave Ramsey is also on KSFO, so does not make sense putting him on KGO, John Batchelor is still on KGO, but at 10 p.m. I actually like Dave Ramsey, he gives some good advise and I like his personality, I don't always agree with him, but I don't see the point of having him on the same time at 2 San Francisco stations. Couldn't KGO find a more libeal syndicated host from 7 to 10 p.m. like Bill Press or similar.

  14. Gotta give you credit as you correctly predicted Mark Willard's departure from KNBR before it happened. But I'm having a hard time seeing KNBR messing with their morning show, even considering their financial situation. Regardless of opinions about whether their show is good or not, I believe M&M is one of if not KNBR's top performing show. Would think you'd keep that intact at all costs. Lund may be a different story, although Papa seems to like working with him and that might dissuade KNBR from making that move. If they need to cut costs, I'd think the TKB show would be a better place to make some changes.

  15. Paulie Mac has been absolutely worthless for years. At least Lund knows football and does his homework for 49ers broadcasts. Paulie gets stoned and reminds us of a Dead show he attended in 1977 in New Jersey.

  16. I for one would miss KGO if it dumped the talk format. At least it had been local and a good place to air views on current national and local events. It is great background entertainment when attending to other tasks or driving in the car. Had to laugh this morning, as now they have Bret Burkhart being co-host to 2 of the programs (Medero and Thompson), doing the news, traffic and weather. I therefore must presume that he also in charge of cleaning the restrooms.
