Sick Day at KCBS

BAD DAY AT KCBS, especially early morning.

Jim Taylor, filling in the AM DRIVE with fellow anchor, Holly Quan, abruptly left the studio after the 7 AM news hour. Taylor felt ill and left anchor duties to Quan, who had to go solo until Melissa Culross came in and worked with Quan until 10 AM.

PM Drive anchor, Jeff Bell, was brought in to work the midday news (10 AM-3 PM) because anchor, Rebecca Corral, was out sick.

I asked a KCBS contact if the unusual sickness affecting air talent could be Covid-related? "I'd think about that," said the contact.

There's no evidence to suggest that the illnessed were virus-related but the situation at KCBS's studio definitely was talk today.

KCBS is conducting a "Jeopardy-like" process for those auditioning tp become a permanent replacement(s) for Stan Bunger, who retired from the all-news 740 AM (and 106.9 FM) outlet on June 11.

  1. Jim Taylor didn't sound very good this morning. Seemed to me very slow speech.

  3. I think if the illnesses were "Covid-related", (almost) all employees would be back working from home, and I don't think that's the case. KCBS def needs to figure out what's up....

  5. Look at the ventilation and perhaps behind-the-scenes staff who may have been inadvertently exposed.

  6. Newsrooms are notoriously adept at spreading flu bugs..There is nothing new about this.
