WE'RE 4 months from an election and we're smack in the middle (again) \of a worsening pandemic --at least in California if not the Bay Area *but give it time)...
Why not give John Rothmann an extra couple of hours on KGO? It would probably depend on a sponsor but hat's fairly easy be it a transistor radio company (like the current one now) or a car dealership or a bank. It would be LIVE and LOCAL en fuego. And it would be tremendous community-based programming, a natural and with the election coming, common sense.
KGO has a lot on its hand but it also has Rothmann and Pat Thurston, two key players doing three gigs, like say, the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker. Don't you just love my poetry?

get the impression that rothman has his run of the station now, since he is always threating to do more then the three hours he is alloted..wonder if cal mart dropped him since he hasnt been plugging them for a few weeks now, maybe the talk about the raymond burr bathroom was too much

ReplyDeleteI always got the feeling that Pat can't really run a politics oriented show by herself, as the material is too complex for her. Might require some actual learning and research, so, she often has to tap John Rothmann to co-host her shows and have him answer the "hard" questions for her. Sorta embarrassing if you ask me. The other hosts seem to manage on their own, with an occasional call in the JR.
ReplyDeleteKGO has to improve their ratings or the station will go all Spanish music. They need a strong morning drive host and that means Nikki Medoro has to go back to the newsroom. Ronnnn is waiting in the wings and would be a big improvement over Nikki. If they can get Clem Tillam to come back it would be a win for their ratings. They can't continue with these low ratings.

Anyway he is a lawyer, so his subject is kind of limited, I liked him, but not for 4 hours in the morning, perhaps find a good morning host for 3 hours give Lem 1 hour before Mark Thompson. However, I heard that Lem is having health issues so might not even be a possiblity.

Rothmann lets the Maga crazies speak; he asks questions and attempts to engage them until it's apparent they have an agenda; they don't listen, they are impervious to reason and incapable of absorbing facts. Rothmann gives them time which is why they keep calling back.
ReplyDeleteKNBR has a big advantage over the Game, better known and much better signal. I don't think one station has way better talent than the other ones. It comes down to which personanities are less annoying over the other one.After a while they are all annoying, although Ratto defintley knows his sports way more than the other clowns.
