Luckoff-Owens KGO Flare-Up 2020 Style

Mickey Luckoff used to be the old KGO Radio bigwig who guided the 810 AM news-talk behemoth when it routinely kicked ass and would be #1 like it was for 32 straight years --that was moons ago.

The new KGO is improvising to act like the old KGO --it won't happen but it's good KGO is trying to establish solid vintage roots that resonate with what's happening today in the ongoing craziness of 2020.

I'm posting this new development--one you all have a right to know: the latest BLOW-UP and it's a HUGE BLOW-UP: Luckoff's latest tirade with former KGO host, Ronn Owens.

Owens and Luckoff have had both a good and very BAD relationship; mostly good of late namely because time has moved on and Luckoff is in his 80's and Owens is pushing his mid 70's.

There's not the tension that once existed (like Owens beating Mickey in arbitration in the late 90's, for one) --that sentiment has largely abated but if a latest bruhaha is any indication, there's still fire on the mountain.

Owens invited Luckoff for a private wine and cheese meet-up at his new downtown SF apartment --not a big deal but enough for one of my spies to tell me "all hell broke loose" at the afternoon seltzer.

While Mickey was eating some food and sipping some wine, Owens came into a room and joked that the two were just so fine and able even though "I beat your ass in '95' (When Owens beat Luckoff in an arbitration case) --to which Luckoff told Owens to go do something that is physically impossible.

The two until recently were friendly enough to have orchestrated a detante. No more.

Luckoff was notorious to deal with in his heyday at KGO. He was loyal and very generous to those that were his friends and allies. He gave and authorized massive buyouts to people like Rosie Allen. He could be a supreme asshole too. Ask Ronn Lowenstien (Owens) himself.

Seems now the gruesome twosome are angry again.

I'm not a huge fan of Luckoff; he's not a very nice man and he often berated a lot of people (not me) but I always wondered why such a little man had acted so little in front of various people, including the vacuous Owens, who himself showed why he's such a total schmuck these days.

There's no one to root for in this 2020 battle.
