YOU ALL KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE SARA SIDNER, the fantastic, smart, great, magnificent CNN reporter extraordinaire --Ms. Sidner was, again, on the front line of protests marking the murder of George Floyd.
Sidner showed her correspondent prowess in reporting from Minneapolis
during the dangerous riots that took place and the mayhem on the streets. You watched and shook your head, over and over.I sure did.
I BRING THIS UP about Sidner because we in the Bay Area saw her early anchor work at KTVU and marvel at how she went from the desk onto the field; every good anchor loves field reporting and Sidner is no different.
KTVU could have snagged a REAL STAR, bringing back the talented-supreme ace, Sidner would have been a BIG-TIME it for Fox2, but it never materialized --why? KTVU, namely FOX, got cheap.
That's right. Can you say "LOW BALL"? Fox could have lured Sidner back had they just offered her comfortable money, not anything outrageous mind you but just enough to handle the expense of living in the Bay Area and having the financial means to exist and maintain. It's not a nickel-and-dime effort but KTVU offered peanuts and that BURNED Sara and effectively wrecked the deal.
Turns out, there was no deal and that's a shame because Sidner would have loved to come back to the Bay Area and work at KTVU, where she blossomed as an anchor in the early 2000's before CNN hired her to report in the field.
I never was able to get the actual numbers KTVU --Fox, offered her but I heard it was a joke. To her credit, Sidner made a big deal of it and boy, could she have. We'll never know. But at least we can still watch her on CNN and view a masterpiece at work.
She was fantastic and I don't think she slept for 2 or three days. She was relentless. KTVU missed a great one
ReplyDeleteSara Sidner and Priya David were the best things to happen to KTVU since Coral left.
