Gary Radnich to Raj Mathai: 'It's Not Always About The Money'--NBC Bay Area Lead Anchor to Stay in San Jose

RADNICH TO RAJ: "It's not always about the money." PREVENTS MATHAI MOVE TO 30 ROCK

Gary Radnich had a 'come-to-Jesus' moment with NBC Bay Area lead anchor, Raj Mathai. They met secretly down in San Jose a few weeks back and they practiced social distancing (more than six feet apart and at a Raddy friend's house)

Mathai had been wooed by network NBC at 30 Rock and was very close to taking his family to NY (really, Jersey) for a new job that was right smack in Mathai's hand, pen in hand, contract to be signed and faxed to the Peacock honchos --BUT IT NEVER WENT DOWN.

Why?

Enter the former KRON/KNBR media maven, Mister Gary Radnich who knew a few things about the big apple --just a few.

Radnich, who recently decided to take some advice and split KNBR (they told him to "retire" now) told Raj that if he were going merely for the money, to reconsider.  My spy told me Raddy told Raj, "It's not always about the money." You're right, Garry, we agree. More importantly, so did the Raj.

Mathai had basically made his mind up that while the NY offer was great, he didn't want to uproot the family and go way back east even though it was tempting. Radnich's advice sealed the deal. Mathai needed confirmation and he got it, via THE RAD.

All is well in the South Bay.

  5. Mathai needed raddy’s advice? Why? Because he is a close second to Vern Glenn in the raddy mannerisms game? They all do that canseco twitch as if they are on the batter’s box ready to launch one over the “green monster” Lmao
