*KPIX --I'll give them credit for going to the scene (from a helicopter) and as late as 6: 53 PM (via their 6: 30 News) had an update regarding the traffic back-up on the bridge.
*KRON: The comical albatross is running infomercials but this isn't new. KRON is useless.
*KTVU --because of Fox Sports coverage of the NasCar race had to shift its faire tom its sister station (KTVUPlus--TV36) and even then, was running some canned "Elementary" show at 6: 57. I'll give KTVU a pass because its network-owned company dictates the schedule even if there's big protest on the Bay Bridge and there is.
*KGO (ABC7) had limited coverage on its newscast and unbelievable is running an insipid canned infomercial. Another reason not to trust Disney, which owns and operates KGO-TV.
None of this comes as a surprise. TV stations are running lean these days. Sunday is supposed to be a slow news day, hence the lack of people at the station. It's nothing new, well, until the last few years anyway.
ReplyDeleteJR Stone filling in for Eric Thomas this weekend was beyond monotone. Made Steven Wright and Ben Stein sound interesting in comparison.
ReplyDeleteYou could have WW3 and the local infomercials would be on. Same with the big cable news companies where talking heads rule.
ReplyDeleteFyI, I saw JR Stone & Dion Lim co-anchoring the 6:00pm ABC Channel 7 news on both this Saturday & Sunday evening.
ReplyDeleteAnd I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus.................
DeleteSo you want to block traffic and bring light to your cause. Okay i get that, but at what price? All your going to do is piss off the thousands of people that are trying to get on with their lives.
ReplyDeleteIf this happened in your glory days of 1985 there would have been a taped piece on Channel 7 News Tonight or NewsCenter 4 Update with Emerald Yeh - Leo Mccarthy enjoying the weekend getting ready for Live at Five so Telecopter 4 grounded.
ReplyDeleteIf I had happened to be on the bridge, driving across and stopped by this? I'd have floored the gas pedal, and driving THROUGH as many protesters as I could. Justifiable Homicide, that's my middle name
