My exclusive report that KPIX anchor Veronica De La Cruz contracted the Coronavirus is shaking up the studios at 855 Battery. Even when there's hardly anyone in the building thanks to the virus.
Here's more news and it's huge: I received several e-mails on this story, but a few from PIX were concerned staffers--staffers who were close to VDLC and are now royally frightened that their workplace might be COVID -19-infected --not just by De La Cruz's presence but in general..
"We're all worried," said someone close to the situation --the individual didn't want to go on the record for fear of employee retaliation. I verified the person's position at PIX and it checked out.
De La Cruz has been absent from the CBS-SF building for over a month. Her absence has set off a flurry of gossip and speculatyion --until now, a gigantic mystery has settled in at the studios. Almost everyone wants to know what's going on, both VDLC's status and hush-hush near the bosses' office.
De La Cruz is recovering from the virus and is scheduled to be back at the office, possibly in a few weeks. She continues to be on medical leave, 415 Media has learned.
QUESTIONS:
**Did De La Cruz tell KPIX (CBS) of her contracting the virus? With HIPAA laws involving privacy that could be a dicey situation for both CBS and KPIX (which is owned by CBS and its O and O here in SF)
*If De La Cruz didn't inform PIX of her condition, could she then in fact, jeopardize the health and welfare of those people who worked beside and around her?
*Did KPIX have a responsibility to inform their workers of the situation? And if they did not, then what?
Questions that need to b answered --and I will be at it non-stop.

The question is how VDLC got the virus? Did she get it at work, from her son (please note: he goes to school), a friend or something about her private life contract to Covid-19?
ReplyDeleteKPIX need to shut down the office, report it to health department and get the department cleaned up before allowing staffs back to work no matter where VDLC got it. When she got it, she went back to the office and the office is a risk from TV to Radio station. It seems KPIX try to hide it from other media and to the public and if they did not report it to health inspection, the station should be shut down from operating. The public has the rights to know.
The only smart staffs staying at home was Michelle Greigo using her 3 kids as an excuse to work at home, really, stay away from germs adding on Liz Cook with the same status, kids--work at home.
VDLC should work at home, but will KPIX send a crew to set up all the lights and camera for the evening newscast. No Way!!! Just take good care of herself praying it will not come back until the contract ends. KPIX will renew her contract unless they are willing to pay $$$ to let her go if she sues the station for their negligence not doing a well background check hiring her breaking all reporters record taking the most time off. And, SF is not the right place for her and she should consider another station at a more quiet city/state. All big states knows about her incredible life and background, not a good thing!!!
Hey! I LOVE her incredible life and background!! Ask her to move to Sacramento, and I'LL be MUCH HAPPIER ...
Delete1:07am..why just have your response be, KPIX needs to follow CDC guidelines. Don't need you "spin".
ReplyDeleteThe question is how VDLC got the virus? TRACING WILL RESOLVE THIS
KPIX needs to shut down the office, report it to health department. WRONG, NOT AN SF DEPT OF HEALTH ISSUE, KPIX JUST NEEDS TO CLEAN TO CDC STANDARDS
..smart staffs staying at home. AGREED, IF SHE HAS A SCHOOL AGE CHILD WHO IS ACTUALLY ATTENDING SCHOOL (not yoiur speculation) SHE SHOULD WORK FROM HOME
Tracing is useless. Maybe it works if you're trying to figure out the source of contaminated water that's causing cholera, but there are so many possible sources for the virus that even if you do track down the original source, how is it going to prevent the spread of the virus if there are countless other places you can pick it up?
DeleteMakes me harken back to the good old days when the anchors were either black, white, latino or japanese. No open borders, no third world problems, the Bay Area was a gem!
ReplyDeleteW-w-what?!?
Deleteahh, classic racism - thanks for the contribution, boomer!
DeleteBlack, latino, japanese. Yes 5:26, so much racism from a "boomer". Moron.
DeleteThe actual morons are those who are younger and don't have a clue about what havoc they are wreaking on the state with their open border, free-for-all sanctuary city policies. When it looks like a Mad Max movie, they might come to their senses, but don't count on it. They're too naive to figure it out for themselves, and too arrogant to take their elders advice.
DeleteGame on? More like game over.
ReplyDeleteOne of the comments above refers to "knows about her incredible life and background, not a good thing!" What is that all about ? Have I missed something ?
ReplyDeleteKPIX is a toxic station and being contaminated with Covid19 is fitting
ReplyDeleteWCBS CBS2 in New York shut down, when employees came down with the `Rona. Why is KPIX different? Maybe this is how The Suits plan on clearing the deck!
ReplyDeleteJuliette Goodrich getting tested had nothing to do with VDLC.... SUUUURE...
