That Dennis Brown Sounded Pretty Good on 49ers' Broadcast Too Bad Papa Screwed It Up

BROWN DOES DECENT ON 49ers KNBR Broadcast but Insecure Papa mentions Ryan "will be back next week" several times

Greg Papa managed to screw up a wet dream.

Figuratively speaking.

Throughout the 49eers-Saints thriller in New Orleans, Papa was relentless in his plugging that Tim Ryan (the guy that said "blackness") and was suspended for the broadcast, "will be back."

While kowtowing for Ryan, Papa made Dennis Brown, sound almost obscure. Brown did a pretty decent job and made pointed references throughout the broadcast but Papa was incredulous about Ryan.

Nothing against Ryan, but what was Papa trying to preach? How to make your partner look bad on the radio? El schmucko strikes again, "SAN-FRAN-CISCO!"

Greg Papa: Sabotages Brown

  1. Your a better person than me Rich. I won't listen to Papa's radio call. His arrogance and his touchdown call is to much for me to take. Sorry about Dennis Brown having to work with him. He's a likeable guy.

  2. Do you have the name and address of the player who grabbed Kittle's facemask, I'd like to send him a really nice "Thank You" card, a box of candy and a dozen roses.

  3. Couldn't listen to apoplectic Papa for more than a few minutes, but Dennis Brown was really good, big improvement over I'm better than you Ryan.

  4. Greg Papa is just so wrong for a San Francisco team. Worst part...you get his calls (the awful final Field Goal is 'Gooooood' call) on national radio. He's too detailed and technical with regular play-by-play (remember Tim McCarver with Baseball) and he's way over the top bombastic and contrived for highlight moments. All was fine for Oakland, but the storied, classy Niners? No thank you.

    1. It's cool to have him on our side though. Yeah, he will probably always be remembered for his work with the Raiders, but working for the Niners can add another dimension to his legacy as a play-by-play guy.

Look at the success of the Niners in his first year as the radio voice of the Niners. Got to have E-40 mention Greg Papa in a Niners rap song in the future like Ice Cube did in one of his Raiders rap songs.

  5. Kevin Burkhardt is very well-respected at FOX for both his NFL PBP and for MLB pre- and post-game shows. I'll take the intuitive Burkhardt every time over the worsening egotistical Papa. And Charles Davis knows all football levels as a solid FOX analyst. I'm sure Dennis Brown did fine, but Charles Davis can be amazing.

    1. Charles Davis is one of the voices of the Madden video game. He's very solid!

Kevin Burkhardt is good. Defeinitely the next up-and-coming play-by-play guy for FOX. He could be the next Joe Buck, but less annoying. LOL.

  6. Rich, do you think Greg Papa was just letting people know who were tuning into the game on the radio about Tim Ryan? I mean yeah, everyone knows he will be back next week, but maybe Greg Papa might've wanted to inform people who didn't know.

  7. with ryan there its like ron santo #1 and rin santo #2.Ryans troubles is that he was too much of a homer and couldnt admit the balt QB was better than Jimmy G. So he comes up with some idiotic reason why he was successful. He did it on the papa postgame and papa didnt take exception.

  8. What kind of a mushroom-top hair cut is that and why did he allow it to be taken? Idiot.

  9. Hey Papa you will never be Lon Simmons, so don't try.
Dennis Brown should be on 49'ers post game show on NBC Bay Area
