AMID THE IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY Chaos --another established anchor leaves the biz to become a PR person; why? more security; less static; better benefits; more serenity and overall peace of mind.
Matt Keller, formerly of KGO/ABC7 is the latest to leave his TV news field and go to a PR spokesman gig; it was announced earlier this year but now official.
A Keller associate to me: "he was offered this position and ran like 'hell to take it." So you hear and wonder why? My immediate response was "why didn't KGO make this impressive guy a full-timer?"
Keller was always a cut above average no matter on the desk anchoring or in the field. You lose someone of his stature and pedigree makes you less worthy so I'm puzzled at this move, or lack a move from this news outlet in the Bay Area TV News venue.
Not only that, but a further indictment of its ND, Tracey Watkowski-Silva. The mad reign continue and good people are still leaving in droves.
Ah! Thank you, Rich, for the clarification and repeating the sadly obvious inaction by Disney that must change ASAP - removing the inept GM & ND at KGO-TV. Keller was definitely among the best reporters.
