IT NEEDS TO BE SAID: Why should we care about the "Ten O'clock News" if KTVU doesn't?
Remember the good old days when its staff cared a lot about the "Ten O'clock News?" It's anchors and reporters used to make it appointment TV News --now its anchors are largely there to do a newscast and then split.
There's NO passion. The stories are dumb and superfluous. The news presentation is a joke. It's like watching bread crumbs and week-old melba toast. I don't care about the newscast because they don't care anymore other than finishing up and leaving. Good riddance.
And please don't tell me about ratings because they hardly count anymore because viewership numbers are DOWN, way down and KTVU knows it.
What an ABOMINATION!
I don't think anyone does care anymore, Rich, except you.
ReplyDeleteYou're living in the past.
Van Amburg, Evan White, Dennis Richmond, Dave McElhatton...those days are gone.
Just like the days of Count von Zeppelin and Andrew Carnegie are gone.
Gone gone gone.
Today it's Bezos, Zuckerberg, and that weirdo who puts cars in space and smokes dope.

DeleteIts not just KTVU, is everyone, everywhere. They have cut staff and recycled stories for the early shows. The late news is just a repackaged 5pm news! Then, the late news is repackaged for the morning....
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It's literally mind numbing
DeleteYou gotta wonder if they think they're getting overworked. After the 10 o'clock deal, they have to do an 11 pm deal too. They probably think they're underpaid for the market size and are getting treated like shit by management, so they feel if they don't care, why should we? Resources are a lot less than they were even 10 years ago. Things are changing, and not for the better.
ReplyDeleteThe interesting things about this photo.
ReplyDeleteBill Martin is smiling like it's time to go home for dinner.
Frank looks like he just played grab ass with someone.
Julie looks like she just zinged Heather
Mark has pants on.
Who watches local news, unless your 80 and don't have a computer.
ReplyDeleteHey zombie, I guess you rely heavily on blogs and the real fake news sources. Yup, you have a real good handle on life...not.
DeleteHey Einstein. Looks like the cheese left the cracker with you a very long time ago. Did you read Rich's column that very few people watch the news anymore? Did you read any of the comments. Since it sounds like your from the Colonial period, you don't have to wait till 10 pm to watch the news, you can go on your computer and no to any news website, like CNN or even KTVU, if you want local news. You probably still write checks at Walmart. lol
DeleteThey need to get the single-parent hos out of the newsroom. It's negatively affecting the youth.
DeleteHoly Crap. KTVU brought out the old set, just for that photograph????
ReplyDeleteI've been watching the Ghost Ship trial coverage on all the stations with running commentary by defense attorney Tony Serra. Is it me, or his he really gross??
ReplyDeleteSerra is eccentric, but a thoroughly adept, experienced, and skilled attorney.
DeleteThe mistake Serra's client made was giving a jailhouse interview. They never bode well for the accused. Serra has a big job on his hands and it's criminal that the owners of the property, who knew full well what was going on there, are off Scott Free pleading the fifth.
DeleteClear Choice continues to beg for Serra's services. Can't watch this news story without cringing every time he gives an interview.
DeleteJulie has let her hair revert to some sort of foul looking non-color, seems blond is but in the rear view mirror.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't the station afford to have some intern push the camera switching button that Holmes seems to have been assigned (they try hiding it behind her laptop). She her all night long fiddling with it with her left hand.
Seems like KTVU could do more reporting of actual news stories and a lot less of those annoying promos about what a great news team they have.
ReplyDeleteThey're trying to convince you!
