'Big Changes' Set for KGO Radio Thursday (If You Care)

Image result for changes WORD FROM A GOOD SOURCE...

Big changes coming to KGO Radio on Thursday.

The actual changes, I don't know yet but I'm assuming the next host for the 10-1 PM slot will be announced.

Plus probably a lot of restructuring--especially on the weekend.

I'll make some calls and texts. As usual.

  1. Chimp Franklin has been absent all week, thankfully. He's said to be "under the weather". I'd prefer him "under a bus" but that's just me. Suffice it to say I hope he doesn't return, ever.

    1. Please take a leap of faith and share with us what you REALLY think of Chimp Franklin. Inquiring minds want to know.

    2. I agree. If Bearman is gone so should an adult that goes by chip.

    3. That is mean spirited, watch out for karma. There are several hosts l don't care for,in fact some l can't stand. Would never wish them ill health or getting in an accident.

  2. I have to laugh every time I hear the KNBR ad for DeMarcus Cousins' camp that promises to teach kids how to have fun playing basketball. What would Cousins know about having fun on the basketball court?

  3. Holy Crap Rich...I can't keep up with all the breaking news you have. Great to see you back. Keep up the stellar work you always do.

  4. I tuned it today to see who had Bearman's slot. Pat Thurston was on. I heard a caller or 2 dispute her, she brought up whataboutism, she then contradicted herself, I had enough, I turned it back off.

    1. Yep. Very bad choice BUT better than beeerman. I hope they find talent that will be relevant and intelligent.

    2. Pat is intelligent. Relevant l guess depends on your point of view. She is a bit too liberal at times for me, but there are plenty of right wing hosts, l'm more in the middle, John Rothmann is my favorite. It is nice to have a diversity of opinions, l don't mind listening to a more conservative host, if he is fair and reasonable, Tom Sullivan is one of those listen almost every day. Sean Hannity the opposite can't listen to his drivel for even a few minutes

    3. I would listen to Pat Thurston but she sounds like a screeching 9 year old. Phony little girl voice. She is nails on chalkboard.

    4. So you won't listen to her. The one I can't stand is Monica Crowley, regardless of her politics.

  5. Whomever they choose will have to be able to live in the Bay Area for $75,000 a year. That person has to be a) independently wealthy, or b) married to someone with money. Cumulus isn't paying real talent. They could syndicate.

  6. I would think KGO Radio would be a great spot for some former TV anchor or politico who has retired or isn't hurting for cash. Ralph Barbieri would have been interesting to listen to on non-sports stuff about 10 years ago. Ray Ratto on politics? I would listen.

    1. Ralph is incoherent these days. Maybe 10 years ago.
      Ratto? That's a great idea.

  7. Maybe a format flip. Foreign language???

  8. Get rid of all Conservative talk like A & G, John Bachelor and Dr. Drew. There's 2 stations that have that crap 24/7 already. Give Pat and John full-time weekday gigs. Give Ronnnnn an hour. Give Tim Seca the movie guy an hour or 2 on weekends. Cut the boring syndicated financial crap out on weekends, at least go local. Find good local moderate to progressive talent.

    1. I agree - just heard that Mark Thompson, Pat Thurston and John Rothman will have regular gigs. Didn't hear anything about Ronn.... Tim Seca - GREAT idea!! I'm back to listening to KGO... and happy about it!

    2. Uh, A&G and Dr. Drew are about as moderate as you can get. The last thing we need around here is more progressive SJW garbage or the Pat and John broken record show, let alone the Ronnn Owens shitfest.

    3. 11:44 hit the nail on the head. Couldn't agree more. Garbage.

    4. 1144 and 214. Good!! Don't listen then. You got your 560 and 860 right wing crapola..You'll learn so much from Sussman and Limbaugh.

    5. 7:16...Rothmann and Thurston are 1 trick ponies. "Trump bad! Republicans bad! Did we say Trump bad yet? Trump bad!". Oh so insightful.

At least their show prep won't be all that hard every day. Just do what you did yesterday and the 45 others shows prior to it.

    6. I listened to both of them long before there was a Trump...welcome back...and even if they are one trick ponies, they both do it with astuteness. Will enjoy going back to the races!

  9. 810 is beyond repair, the damnage has run to deep for to long. The Chipster is the thing of nightmares. I haven't listened for so long now.. I don't even care anymore.

  10. News to Rich: There are at least 50+ other radio stations out there.

  11. So Mark Thompson has moved back to the BA?

Or does he still live in LA?

Will he still be doing his KFI shift with Conway?
