Schulman Extra; Baer/Giants Chokehold; Luckoff: Respect the Man Not his Tactics; Bizarre Aguirre Playbook at NBC Bay Area; Changes Coming to KCBS; 415 Media, Yes, Asks for Contributions; Wednesday PM Rundown

Related image YOU THOUGHT I WAS ROUGH on Hank Schulman. Seriously? I was rather tame. He's a schmuck. A cold, mean, angry, boorish schmuck. I called him out. And I put my name to it and didn't hide behind my computer like so many do.

I don't wish Schulman any ill health; I hope he has a long and productive life but he needs to check his ego and stop pretending he's God. I know that first hand when I was a big yapper in the press box.

I called Schulman out for his frequent suck-up to Larry Baer and the Giants' hierarchy. Baer needs to be held accountable and I'm not just talking on the field. The Giants have a Grand Canyon deep choke hold on San Francisco and Schulman and the Chronicle look the other way. To the detriment of the city, overall no but a gargantuan amount of off-field, in house mayhem that should be exposed and weeded out for public consumption. Schulman, on the baseball side, is just a PR hack for the team; not as putrid as Bruce Jenkins and Scott Ostler but damn near close. Ostler's chronic jabs at the A's has become predictable and laughable. Jenkins should get a team jersey. The only sane and objective scribbler is John Shea. But the other main print guys, don't get me started --where's Matier&Ross when you need 'em. Chokehold

*I went hard on Mickey Luckoff too, the former KGO Radio boss but I never questioned his work acumen. I was mostly referring to Luckoff's treatment to certain people and how mean and angry, scary really, the guy was to various folks. I'm assuming he's mellowed but I've also heard he's become more morose. Which might explain why his famous Christmas party draws less and less people.

Luckoff masterminded, with great help from programming boss, Jack Swanson, a fabulous KGO Radio for thirty years. He and Swanson created a family environment there which is unheard of even in those days at a bigtime radio station. He treated people he liked as god but he could be angry SOB to others, even those who were great broadcasters and brought in loads of revenue to the station. Those in the industry know well Mickey's arrogance and personal terror. I'm only giving you guys the inside of what everyone else knows.

*Like many others, I'm shocked at NBC Bay Area's apparent, rapidly approaching divorce with Jessica Aguirre. She's very good still; she's also very popular with  both men and women and her Hispanic heritage obviously is welcome in San Jose and the Southbay. Which only further confues me why cooler heads couldn't work out some deal with Jess. Yeah, she's 55 and makes too much money.

Dumb, dumb and dumb.

*If what I'm told by the 855 Battery radio spies, mucho changes are coming to KCBS in the next few months enough so that part-timers and vacation relief broadcasters are being told to be aware and on call.

*The A's-Yankess MLB playoff plain-in game tonight will be broadcast on KNBR tonight; KNBR carries national ESPN radio programming. I'm sure the Giants are just thrilled to death.

*1-800-Got Junk radio ads: junk radio.

*I DON'T FORCE, NOR CAN FORCE you all to become PAID SUBSCRIBERS to my 415 MEDIA. Fine. On the other hand, the CHUTZPAH of those of you that lecture me/castigate me/rip me for asking for money so that I can continue breathing and not have to lose money maintaining this site.

Again, you don't want to subscribe; fine, I'll deal with it but don't have the gall to lecture me on pledge breaks. Don't want to see, then go away and watch KQED. I'm deluged with thousands of readers many of whom, unfortunately, that love reading 415 Media but can't/won't pay or contribute. I realize many of you are either on strict budgets or have lots of family expenses. I get it. And I also realize many of you who have contributed more than once and thank you.

Lastly, I very much DO NOT APOLOGIZE for asking for contributions. Never. I work hard and overtime to bring you unique content every day with little support and miniscule Google ads. I simply cannot continue the status quo because there's no money in the budget but I try hard to maintain content and I am ALWAYS trying, daily, to figure out a way to have some cash on hand because I want/you want, 415 MEDIA every day to read about Bay Area TV and Radio.

You want the pledge breaks to stop then those of you that can, please contribute so that I can keep posting stories and commentaries that you won't see anywhere else.

    2. You can blame the greedy sales dept. at the TV station or radio station for the repetitiveness. When will the advertisers realize this kind of repetitiveness hurts their brand?

  2. "Let's fire Jessica and Aguirre and hire some brain-dead 26-year-old with a massive social media following who blogs about what shoes she wears to work every day!"

    "Great idea!"

  3. Shillman on Gary and Larry's show is a joke. Even as Gary kisses his ass, Shillman is a pompous ass, and a complete lackey for Baer. Truly awful to have to hear.

  4. sorry another thing bugging me, the raider broadcast team..l. musberger yes he does give you the play by play, but he doesn't give anything on the formations or how the play develops, plus weird he keeps making baseball references..linc kennedy why cant he call him brent instead of partner constantly.. and then why is chris townsend on the broadcast at all he adds nothing and is almost like an afterthought, like they needed a "radio" guy to stick on there..

    1. I heard about half the Dolphins game. Musberger calls the game like he's still on TV and the listener can see what's happening. You can't tell what happening, just that its a run or a pass. He doesn't really paint any kind of picture.

  5. Better she post where she got her pretty shoes on social media...

Because if she doesn't...the phones at the station will go crazy from people asking...

"Where did she get those pretty shoes?".

Stupid viewer calls are SOOOOO annoying!

I love working in TV...but I hate the viewers.

  6. Baer and sabean the Giant kingpins most reaponsible for GIANT failure and fake-yes fake-3 world series. Bobby Evans was thrown under bus just like beloved hank Greenwald, Bill Newcomb, Stan Conte, Fainaru-wada, williams and many others who spoke up. Yes KNBR and chron were mouthpieces for Jints with schulman and jenkins and even radnich leading the pack. No longer sports journalists in town much like mainstream media > http://wheredidyougojoedimaggio.downloadebooks.me

    2. 2010: Timmy and a band of miSFits beat the Rangers.
2012: Pablo hits 3 HRs and Scutaro leads the Giants 4-0 over the Tigers.
2014: Mad Bum, Pablo, and Pence beat KC (we'll never be Royals).

      Nothing fake here . . .

Exactly, Jenkins clearly hates the A's while serving as a PR person for his beloved Giants, yesterday he writes about the upcoming Red Sox/Yankees series, this was before the wild card game against the A's was played, wow, is it any clearer?

I guess it helps if you keep showing (on TV) and talking about his rental boat as it comes into McCovey Cove, as Giants announcers do, a bit of quid pro quo perhaps?

  8. I feel bad for Jessica. She had to put her big house in Pleasanton on the market for $2.25 Million. Oh the shame!!

  9. Greenwald needed to be thrown under the bus. Yes, he was solid play-by-play announcer. But, as the years wore on, he got more cranky, complained about everything under the sun...including the cardinal sin of whining about games taking too long. It was like he didn't want to be there anymore. After Greenwald's book came out, taking shots at Baer and ownership, it's no wonder he's no longer welcomed by the Giants. Sorry, he is not missed.

    1. I thought Hank's jokes were pretty corny. However, I hesitate to pile on too much as he is up there in age and is not looking too healthy.

  10. I appreciate Schulman's reporting on the Giants but he blocked me on Twitter and I don't know why. I was never hostile to him but did question his comments at times. Again, I was never a jerk or obnoxious to him but he blocked me. That's petty.

  11. I've never been blocked on Twitter...guess that's because I'm not on Twitter :)

  12. - I remember when RL used to respect Ostler. Guess not anymore, thanks to the anti-A's slant typical at the Chron.
    - Luckoff, though, was right at being disgusted with the Cloud Clowns.
    - Goodbye, KNTV ratings, with the suddenly cheap Comcast adios-ing Aguirre. Shock me about her next move, Rich!
    - I wonder if any long-timers at KCBS will shown the door.
    - Regardless of which station aired the A's, the Yankees showed why they won 100 and the A's clearly overachieved to get to 97. May the winner of the No. 1 AL rivalry still have enough left for the Astros, barring a Tribe Miracle.
    - 1-800-Got-Junk should have existed in the early 1970s while Sanford and Son was among the funniest sitcoms. Redd Foxx would have added "Big Dummy" to the ads, and the inaneness that exists would have turned into "Aunt Esther Ugly" howling laughter. Miss that show.
    - I remember when Twitter began I used to call it Social Bleach, because it was co-founded by a guy named Biz Stone. Now when I think of Twitter, I don't think of tweeting birds; I think of John Cleese's Twit character in the Monty Python series. Glad I don't have an account in that crazy social media world.

  13. I don't "twit" either for the same reason.

Talking about KCBS, Rich, can you or someone here Please, Please tell them to put their Traffic Map back online? I've e-mailed, called & even wasted a stamp to let them know it's sorely missed and asking when it's coming back online. I used to rely on it to, obviously, check the traffic & consider my options.

It says the map is unavailable due to necessary website maintenance & to follow them on Twitter. WTF? Really? It's been several months by now.

Really, if I got a Twitter account just for that I'd have to read tons of unnecessary junk, read the whole Bay Area's traffic conditions, and by the time I'd finish the traffic conditions would have changed. Which is pretty stupid! I've lost hope it's ever coming back online.

I apologize if this is off topic but Thank you!
