While You All Were Celebrating The Warriors' Win All Hell Broke Loose on KNBR During The Overnight 'Giants Replay'

Image result for Mass confusion IF YOU WERE UP EARLY TUESDAY and not listening to KNBR you missed quite a show: let's see, three different times a period of DEAD air, each time lasting more than five minutes! When their wasn't dead air, there was a barrage of at least 20 minutes of commercials. And after the twenty minutes of commercial? MORE dead air and dead air. It went on and on and didn't stop. Talk about a massive crash.

But it went further on and its origin affected KNBR's #-1 client; its bread-winner, the SF Giants no less and I'm sure Larry Baer and company will probably be given more Cumulus kisses as a result of this morning's crash and burn because the Giants "replay" was pretty much destroyed in the process.

Related imageGranted, not many people are listening to KNBR around 4 in the morning but there are early risers like myself and a few truck drivers who had to be royally amused.

Image result for radio dead airThe Giants replay is played at midnight following every Giants game on its flagship station; it's a cash king for KNBR which airs ads (naturally) so they can get as much revenue as possible and the Giants love it because even when they lose, they get further pub and don't mind KNBR blowing off non-revenue national sports talk from CBS Sports Radio to air old Giants games.

Anyway, Tuesday night's game was going along just fine until the extra-inning nightmare that ensued when the first block of DEAD AIR arrived; negating Jon Miller thirty minutes later to describe the Rockies eventual win in the 10th. Or, over thirty minutes of DEAD AIR and commercials, maybe the board op was celebrating the Warriors win.

Whatever, it was quite a show, er, non show.

  1. I love Midnight Replay. When I start my car at 345 and here the Giants it's a great thing. But they have employed people overnight that should be making coffee at 7-11

  2. Sons of bitches!

It was murder trying to find good local Warrior talk after the win last night. It was so funny hearing Marty Lurie trying to talk Warriors. Just...don't.

  3. So, nonoe of these teams is good enough it's just Warriors and James are thre ONLY things left in the ''NBA''. all other teams are assumed to be not ever going to ''win'' until James bows out and Warriors stars no longer ar

e dynamic. won't get fooled anymore into the thoughts that ''Oh wow ,the Rockets ( or whomever) are in first place ahead
of The warriors!. Maybe they might unseat the Warriors!!''. No chance ,it's a sham. James and The Warriors are the only thing left in a Whole League. got 60 million 4 year contract ,why bother hustling to beat James or ''Dubs''.

    2. Trying to look at the 2:12 post was as bad as trying to listen to any 30 seconds on kgo.

  4. One bit of credit we must give Ol' Lockstep: Even the Tricky Dickeys have to pay a price if they upset Larry Baer and the Giants. At least let's hope these Cloud Clowns get their acts together for the sake of their flagship's No. 1 client. Then again, it's about as likely as Roseanne staying silent (talk getting a lifeline from Sara Gilbert, then turning it into a Frisbee for the Orange-Hairpieced octopi).

    1. Remember that time Obama was caught on a live mic whispering to Putin, "I'll be able to do more after the election"?

      Man that was funny.
