KGO-TV Has Sendoff for Katie Marzullo; Newsroom Honors Reporter/Anchor; Trixie Breaks Down in Tears; Marzullo Might Be Headed to NBC Bay Area

Related image IT WAS FAREWELL DAY at 900 Front this afternoon; the occasion? KGO-TV's Katie Marzullo was honored in the newsroom as about 40 Circle7 staffers formally said goodbye to her amid pomp and circumstance and a comment from one moody staffer: "The cake was stale."

 Ouch.

Quite a spectacle I'm told by a spy who witnessed the proceedings including an appearance by Her Highness, ND, Tracey Watkowski-Silva who broke down in tears and showed remarkably raw emotion.

Well, the woman does have a pulse and nervous system. Maybe there's hope.

Marzullo had asked KGO management (new GM, Tom Cibrowski) for part time status so she could be closer to her infant child but was rejected by both Cibrowski and Trix. Which at that point, she quit.

Image result for katie marzulloHot rumor: Marzullo will end up at NBC Bay Area, (KNTV) which is quickly becoming KGO-South.

  1. She made a request and management said no. These things happen all the time. We don't always get to have our cake and eat it too. In the long run, she's probably better off. For whatever reason very early on Katie fell out of favor.

  2. Many jobs in PR and in education for talented women in the Bay Area.

  3. I liked seeing Marzullo on the air, whether sitting in as an anchor or from the field. I hope to see her on the air in the Bay Area even if part time.

  5. I'll start watching KNTV news if Katie ends up there.

Cibrowski made a decision that explains exactly why corporate culture has the bad reputation that it so richly deserves. As long as this type of behavior continues, inspiration for Dilbert will keep on coming.

  6. NBC Bay Area and KTVU are the top news stations in the bay area. No debate to be had.

  7. Geez, I never had a going away party. Heard they had my going away party the day after I left!

Goodbye Katie, hope to see you soon!

If your name is Bobby Bonaventura, that would be true.

  8. I can't wait for a farewell party for Chip Franklin from 810am. Perhaps he might go back to third rate comedy in second rate venues ....

  9. NBC Bay Area seems like a good fit for Katie, as they're based in the South Bay and so is she. Best of luck to her!

  10. Don't get all the angst. The few times I saw her, she was marginal at best. Always looked like she had a retainer in her mouth.

No there isn’t. Trixie is most likely bi-polar and not in control of her emotions. But she’s in denial. She’s probably rarely been stood up to because people largely buy into the feminist bullshit of “She’s just being a woman in a man’s world”; “If a man behaved like that they’d be admired.” No they wouldn’t. (Anyone admire Aaron Pero? But Lisa White or Steph Adrouney, as bad as Pero in their own way, largely get a free pass.) But it’s un-PC to say this in the “MeToo” movement, so Trix gets away with it. Feminists have made life worse for everyone, including *them.*

  12. We miss you, Katie - let's hope you land somewhere local - and soon.

  13. Nothing wrong with "tough." Yes, Trixie is tough and she's also weird. Probably why she got passed over for the GM gig and now a target. Born leaders are tough not weird. Disney picked up on that, and I'll bet the home equity line... she's really pissed off.

    2. Hey 4:10 worked for a dozen News Directors, I've been a News Director. Hands down Tracey Watkowski-Silva is the #1 asshole in local TV news. She did have home court advantage. A mentor at Cap Cities/ Philly, a mentor at Disney. Both bridges are now burned to a crisp. Her former KGO colleagues at KNTV can't stand her. Her managers read this blog and had the common sense not to make her GM. Wouldn't be shocked if she was canned today.

  15. When Trixie is the one getting laid off or fired, she should really be crying while anyone against or dislike her will be cheering. Good of Katie taking some time off with her child. Raising a child during the peak of their age from child, teen to adult is very important and glad her final decision is right

  17. Katie Marzullo would be an excellent addition to NBC Bay Area. They have very good anchors and reporters. The news broadcast is cleaner without the video, graphics and TelePrompTer errors rthan KTVU and KGO.
