Ashley's Business Lunch at Tadich with ABC Execs; Still 'Very Happy' at KGO-TV; Eri; Sacramento Anchor Shane Could End Up at PIX; Murph and Crap KNBR Stench

TO THOSE WHO THOUGHT the ABC Stations in LA and NY courting Dan Ashley was some cheap publicity stunt, we take you to last Thursday at Tadich. In the back of the room in a private booth sat two NY TV heavyweights from ABC News who, according to my sources, met for a private lunch with KGO-TV's Ashley.

No formal offer was made but the high-level execs are definitely interested in Ashley and when his contract is up in 2019, who knows? KGO seems to be at an eternal bliss but with rumors floating about possible regime change and new anchors and reporters coming on board seemingly every day...Just a hunch: I don't think Ashley is going anywhere but took the lunch because everyone has to have options, right?

Thomas has almost 30 years at 900 Front and has visions of Maui trips on the radar but no, he's still on the payroll as of now.

Which means Mike is pretty much warm and fuzzy with whoever has the most juice at Jack London Square. For some reason, HH is up there in the Top 5.

Image result for Sam Shane*I rarely track Sacramento TV News developments but veteran newsreader, Sam Shane's ouster at CBS has 415 Media implications: Shane is buddy-buddy with PIX ND, Dan Rosenheim, and boy could PIX use a fresh face on the anchor desk. Look for Shane to resurface at 855 Battery any day now.

Oh the variety, where do we start? For one, the asshole supreme irritant, an alleged co-host who repeatedly bullshits his "relationship with Bruce Springsteen" had the chutzpah to rip Billy Joel's weight --as if this schmuck (Paul McCaffrey) looks like George Clooney (NOT!). Hey "Powlie", give a daily shout to God that you got this gig; you're a moron and you know it. You'd be lucky to have a day job in Toledo. Then there's his wussy South Marin enabler and uber-bs pontificator, Brian Murphy, co-dude with all the charm of a stray pitbull taking a #2 on an alleyway in the Tenderloin; Murphy thinks 145,000 UCLA references combined with 245,000 pop culture references is good radio. Yeah, if you're doing a lifer at Folsom, DUDE

  1. I think you're undercounting Murph's Youkla references, dude. And I too continue to be mystified that Paulie Mac still has a job. His chief talent seems to be interrupting his co-hosts and talking over them.

    1. And playing his childish "It was cool in 1999 when the internet started" sounds clips from movies. Over and over and over and over and over. So fucking annoying.

  2. So you're saying the CBS O&O in Sac didn't renew Sam's contract because they wanted him at their station in San Fran?

    1. No, not at all. I said he may be headed to SF b/c he has a relationship with the ND, try to read the post.

  3. Murphy (Bert), When will Bert lose weight? I'm sure his wife enjoys that whale on top of her - if she's still accepting it. The other Dude Ernie - nice sunglasses what are you hiding phony baloney.

  4. Powlie has a podcast, as if he doesn't spew enough crap on KNBR

  5. KCRA is actually the only accurate, objective news reporting in the San Francisco Bay Area.

    2. I think that's his point...

    3. That 7:04 doesn't know what the Bay Area is?

    4. Nope; that you have to actually leave the BA to get objective, accurate news...

  6. ROLMAO @ continues to get worser but today's horse manure was tantamount to an Academy Award winner status. Aw man, I spit up my coffee reading that. Too funny. and sadly, it is all true.

  7. Dion Lim is doing a great job. Looks like Eric Thomas enjoys not carrying the entire load.

  8. Dan Ashley will not go to LA. He swore, he'd never would go up against his former co-anchor and pedigree, Carolyn Johnson.

  9. Murph & Mac: The only reason I listen to those two frat rats in the AM is when the have someone good to interview. Otherwise, their bantering is too damn much to take in the AM!

    1. Not at all sure Mac is a frat brother. He's a rocker and an "edible" guy :)

  10. Don’t insult fraternities by thinking the morning nitwits would have ever been accepted.
They are the geekiest of dormies.
BTW, the latest affectation of Murphy imitating that fellow UCLAN’s voice is really lame.

  11. No offense, but I kind of thought Sam Shane was to television what Armstrong or Getty, I don't know which is which, are to radio. Kind of forever Sacramento. (jeez I hope Sam doesn't see this). But then he smiles -- something Allen Martin does not.

  12. Ya gotta hand it to Murph. He is the perfect KNBR and local team shill and knows what side his bread is buttered on. Paulie Mac is useless.
