KEN WAYNE has sort of evolved at KTVU with a very unassuming presence --he's been at Jack London Square for over two decades (time flies) but the quiet news anchor has not-so-quietly become one of the most powerful figures at Channel 2, so much so the rank and file and news management are quick to respect this key figure.
Why? Call it a case of someone who has the eye and ear of both news personnel and FOX management. Wayne has built a reputation based on being able to work with just about anyone. He gets universal love by the staff because he's made the transition from Cox Media (KTVU's former owner) to Fox and that isn't such an easy transition. Sure, there's other wily veterans at the Oakland TV News stalwart but Wayne is admired by the two sides who have to negotiate relations --again, a tough task that isn't appreciated as much as it should be. Wayne is almost like KTVU's unofficial ombudsman --a quiet presence but very influential and still as steady as they come.
I posted this a while back, but I'm gonna say it again : Ken Wayne should have gotten the lead news position when Dennis Richmond retired. You're right, Rich, He is the best they have.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Somerville is too sanctimonious and self-impressed. If I hear him say one more time he got into this business to tell stories and help people I'm going to throw up.
DeleteHe's a fine photographer,I know.
ReplyDeletetruth be told, on the new Frandsen show, although not bad, they do frequently lapse into that ''swizzle stick in vegas'' type talk. giants or football talk, then ''swizzle stick in vegas last week'' banter. spare me.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, He's a very good photographer.
ReplyDeleteGive me a break. Ken Wayne? He's fine but he's perfectly ordinary and nothing more.
ReplyDeleteKen Wayne? Suppose Rich has to find someone he doesn't hate.
ReplyDeleteLiking people is way overrated.
DeleteBad plastic surgery, man.
