KCBS Weather Lady, Roberta Gonzales Just Made a Huge Blunder on The Radio This Monday Morning

Image result for Roberta Gonzales CBS I'VE HEARD SOME CRAZY THINGS BUT THIS TOPS EVERYTHING...

At the top of her 7: 20 AM Weather Report on KCBS this Monday Morning...Roberta Gonzales said  something thoroughly STUPID --maybe one of the BIGGEST blunders in local radio history.

Gonzales was on a sailboat Sunday --going on the delta from Pittsburgh to Stockton..."Yeah, We Were Going 120 Miles an Hour!"

Wait a minute. Huh?

KCBS anchor, Stan Bunger, was immediately perplexed. So much so, he allowed Roberta to correct herself and not sound like a fool because we all know doing 120 MPH on a sailboat on the Delta is IMPOSSIBLE!

Only, get this? Roberta DOUBLE-DOWNED!

"Oh no, Stan, we were going that fast." I think what she meant to say was that the craft was going 12 miles an hour. Surely NOT 120!

Everyone makes mistakes. Happens every day. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE ...and downright embarrassing and irresponsible ...ESPECIALLY when the anchor allows you the chance to CORRECT YOUR MISTAKE! Instead, Gonzales sounded even more crazy.

This is bad. How bad? About five minutes after her on-air BLUNDER, a news guy called me and said "something like this can get you 'fired." "The boss can tolerate a mistake but this thing is a 'major credibility issue."

You can't do 120 miles an hour on a sailboat in the Delta and you sure as hell would be stopped by the cops if you could, unless of course, you're Roberta Gonzales on KCBS at 7: 20 on Monday. It would be the equivalent of her saying, "it's 100 degrees right now at Ocean Beach."

This blunder, one would hope will be corrected later in the newscast --I sure hope so.

  1. And you can't go from Pittsburgh to Stockton on the delta.
You can go from Pittsburg to Stockton but not Pittsburgh to Stockton.

  2. She sure sounds pretty liquored up whenever she talks. She's a pain in the ass around KPIX always trying to tag along her younger co workers. Inviting her self out with people who contact her on Twitter. Can we say Mouch

  3. Did she hit a small Cat 5 Hurricane on the Delta? I want what Roberta was drinking!

  4. I know after a box of wine... I can do 120mph on a sailboat.

  5. She was on her boyfriends speed boat, not sail boat. That is where her mistake lies. Wrong kind of watercraft. I've done 110 in that same delta.

  6. If anybody'd help Roberta out to the fullest extent, it'd of course be Stan. Another anchor might have let her walk the plank.

    1. Speaking of Stan Bunger, that reminds me of,Me,and that's why I point out that today Radnich just about explained why KNBR had passed Ray Woodsens style and "Don't worry Ray will do great" Radnich totally ignored Ray being a democrat on conservative KNBR.
So,KNBR has nothing to feel guilty about is his conclusion,I infer.

    4. Agreed 12:16. The more I think about it, the more I realize that Stan is secretly in love with Gary.

Perhaps Gary brushed off Stan's advances once. You know how you make fun of the girl you secretly have a crush on in middle school? That's Stan. Only add 60 years.

    5. Stan's post is so full of gibberish it is impossible to decipher what he was trying to say. Early signs of dementia?

  8. she could have recovered and said, ''well , my name is Roberta ''speedy'' gonzalez, so I have the right to say ''120''!but she protected herself because as a latin ''minority'' she felt she had to save faced.but if she made ''speedy'' comment, she would be criticized for insulting latin people.see?, the American system maybe has gone too far with this worrying about ''saving face'' because of social and racial problems relating to employment etc.she cant make fun of her latin heritage with ''speedy gonzalez'' comment. conversely she must say something that would get her in trouble with boss anyway. like in America, tyou cant really ''win'' when it comes to race problems.as charlottsville shows you now.no , haven't had any IPA's yet.yet.

    2. She is "majority" now. Hispanic, Latino, Mexican now make up the majority of people in CA.

The next Governor should be someone who can "identify" with the majority. To the guy who thinks it's a slam dunk, don't shoot yourself in the foot!

Roberta makes normal people look boring, that's what I like about her. She has outlasted them all!! I would like to have one spoonful of her personal fortitude.

    3. You, sir, are an abominable speller, as well as being grammatically and content-wise, super humanly incoherent.
Please, PLEASE, for the love of our beautiful language, please take a class or two. It will help!

  9. No wonder KPIX Morning news ratings is no good, Robert "fake numbers" on the weather newscast. If the other weather reporter never left, Robert would never get her job back and be working as a fill-in.

  11. Maybe, just maybe, Roberta has been secretly testing Rich's blood pressure. The more she reads what he writes, the more she's seeing what will cause just an itty bitty cardiovascular episode.

  13. Let me channel her...hmmm,ok,Its coming to me. She meant 220 MPH.
    Kidding,Roberta!

  14. The only way to get a sailboat to do 120MPH anywhere is to chuck it off of a tall cliff, and there are no cliffs in the delta. You can get a cigarette boat up to 120 though...if you have a big enough gas card.

  15. Sad how far down Ro does go at PIX & KCBS. As for KNBR, even its usually conservative voice of yesteryear Frank Dill should be appalled at how his beloved ex-station is behaving on and off the air. Wonder what Dill thinks of the Bentley now compared to say, the 1990s, even early 2000s, when things seemed okay between the two. Or even the Lockstep quality these days. (Remember when Dill & Hank Greenwald were - and probably still are in respective retirements - literally good friends? I can see Dill being disappointed in Miller, Flemm, & Kuip this year.)

    1. Radnich doing KNBR solo this week and boy does he sound...either old or like this is a totally new thing. Makes you see how much real sports talk is on Kruger's shoulder these days.
Radnich flogging that Q rating. Like the one that got us the worst president in history.

    2. Why do I compare Radnich and Trump so often? How about the Radnich well known habit to double down in Trumpian fashion?
Today,he again explained why Ray Woodsen is a dinosaur. But,Radnich isn't. Radnich is hip and today.
I bet Ray feels better that the best man at his wedding doesn't have a bad word for the company that fired him. According to Radnich they done Ray a near favor.
