FRIDAY HAPPY HOUR
*The Bay Area Media TV/ Radio guys, not to mention a few cable outlets are quietly peeved over the cancellation of the Protests planned for Saturday. It's a slow news month and nothing like a Saturday confrontation between ultra-right wing believers and raging counter protesters makes for great TV visuals ...I'm half-kidding but trust me, they love these visuals!
There's still a chance for problems but I'm guessing even the most brazen lunatics on both sides are probably going to stay home. Probably. TV crews will be present just in case.
*Hey, that infinitely watchable Richard Painter, has an early morning flight for SF --yeah, that guy, the former Bush ethics lawyer who's been hammering El Trumpo on cable.
*Happiest guys on the planet: the bartenders at the Balboa Café.
*We think we have weather when a small flood hits Marin --tell that to those people in Southeast Texas.
*Don't be surprised if Greg Papa were to leave the Raiders' radio broadcasts when the team moves to Las Vegas. (I will go into detail someday soon) It's not a certainty but there's issues for GP.
Painter one of those Republicans I like.
ReplyDeleteNow, Trump and Radnich,no.748 Trump tells the media "I know it and YOU know it too-admit it" That's EXACTLY what Radnich pulls on Moore over and over.
I read that's its a psychological "God" Complex.
Word, Stan, word.
DeleteGreat move. Plan a rally, take it to the last date as all the ANTIFA's are on buses headed this way as dogs crap in the parks then cancel. Brilliant. LOL Sorry couldn't resist the jab.
ReplyDeleteBut you're right. They bus in the "protesters" from all over the country and call them citizens of the Bay Area on the news and in the headlines. Hypocrisy at its finest.
DeleteI'm hoping Papa leaves, with the Raiders, the Bay Area; a Davis sycophant.A Judas, who has betrayed the citizens of the East Bay.
ReplyDeleteYeah, bus 10's of thousands of them from all over and George Soros is obviously paying for it, like he did for BLM, Occupy Wall St., the women's march, Planned Parenthood March, immigration march, etc... All bullshit. You Cons need to stay away from Fox News and Breitbart. Don't you factcheck anything? Trump loves you guys, the uneducated and gullible. SMH.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't see Greg Papa leaving with the Raiders either. It's kind of interesting that he hasn't addressed it yet, and I guess he probably really doesn't know at this point, but it's hard to imagine him making the move at this stage of his career, especially with his roots being established here, and with all the other jobs that he does (his weekday show on 95.7, the Happy Hour show, and Warriors TV pre-and postgame).
ReplyDeleteIf this was earlier in his career back when he was calling A's and Raider games full-time, maybe I could see him making the move, but now that he's more established and has other jobs, I could see him not leaving for Vegas with the Raiders, even though you can't help but think about the Raiders whenever you see him on TV.
Also, logistically it might be kind of hard. Even though it's not a long flight to Vegas from the Bay, Greg Papa probably might get burnt out after a while going from the Bay Area to Vegas and back for Vegas Raider home games during the NFL season.
If Greg Papa doesn't leave with the Raiders, it will be interesting to see if he takes a role with the Warriors or maybe the Giants or dare I say it, the Niners. Even if he does call Niner games one day whether it's on KNBR or if 95.7 ever acquired the Niners once the Raiders leave for Vegas, it would be kind of weird.
But yes, Greg Papa is one of the people you think about regarding the Raiders move because he's been the voice of the Oakland Raiders for so many years, and you would have to think the Raiders might want to be more Las Vegas based onced they move. That could include their announcers as well, but it wouldn't be the same.
Maybe the Warriors will wise up and dump Fitz for Papa.
DeleteWe can always dream.
haha. We'll see. Yeah, it would be cool to hear Greg Papa call Warrior games, but at the same time, with the Warriors recent success and with the Warriors pending move to Chase Center, it would be kind of controversial if the Warriors made changes to their broadcast team at this point in time. Plus, Fitz talks Warriors hoops pretty much daily on KNBR during the NBA season. He can give you more inside information on the team, since he's with the team during the season. Yeah, Fitz can be a homer at times, but he's much better than a lot of the other TV play-by-play guys in the NBA. A lot of other team's TV play-by-play guys are either boring, terrible, or awful. Fitz at least gives you useful information to the team, and can crack some jokes every now and then. LOL.
DeleteIf this was back when the Warriors were bad, it probably would've been an easier decision, but now that the Warriors are an elite team, it would be tough to make a change to the broadcast team at least until Barnett retires.
Even though baseball might not be his strongest sport to broadcast, I wouldn't mind hearing Greg Papa on the Giants broadcasts, especially if Dave Flemming ends up going to ESPN full-time by the time the Raiders move to Vegas (if not sooner than that), even though if that were to happen, the Giants would probably hire another younger broadcaster to replace Flemming or maybe have Ted Robinson call games on occasion, since Jon Miller, Kruk, and Kuip are starting to get up there in age and take some series off. Maybe have Greg Papa and Ted Robinson split time calling Giants games on TV and on KNBR if Flemming moves to ESPN full-time?
..... because it's only freedom of speech when the ultra left are talking. I've changed many of views listening to those with a different opinion, something the old KGO was so good at ( before they became unbearable garbage hosted by a bunch of C list comidians) !!!
ReplyDeletetell your friend it's a ''sin'' to listen to ''Frand-sin'' on the night show.
ReplyDeleteKQED did a great live News/Talk show today re the Berkeley temper tantrum..They should do more. They had field reporters, guests and lots of calls from listeners..the way good radio used to be.
ReplyDeleteI hope Papa leaves.
ReplyDeleteI thought the ChiSox's Hawk Harrelson had the most annoying call in all of sports ("Put in on the boarrrrrrd....YES!"
But GP's "Touchdown...RRRrrrrraaaaaaiddddderrrrrrrrssss!" top it.
Even though I'm a 49er fan, you have to admit, Greg Papa's "Touchdown Raiders" call is an iconic call. It's one of the things he's known for. I think he dedicated it to Bill King as Bill King originally did the "Touchdown Raiders" call.
DeleteEven Ice Cube had Greg Papa's "Touchdown Raiders" call in the background when he mentioned Greg Papa in his "Just Win Baby" Raiders rap song.
