Well he started in May of 2015, most management contracts are 2 year deals. Not to mention he most likely does not want to go through The Entercom destruction coming at the end of the year...Who are we picking for the NEXT Victim?
Other then too many commercials,I have no big complaints about KCBS..it could use tweaking as another poster has about the road accidents and coverage. I like the Roberta chit chats. She's original. There is no other all news radio channel, kind of shocking for the large and diverse and educated bay area.
What STAN...Did you miss KGO's Half Ass, Half Hearted attempt? Never Mind Stan, so did everyone else according to the ratings. Wait till Entercom takes the place apart. It will be the same mess.
That's why I said ALL NEWS. One other tip for KCBS? More weather. More details too. Roberta only does the morning time or so right?..the rest of the day they really need a Professor Leon or Leonetta. This year was ripe for that.
While they are at it, they should send Susan Leigh Taylor packing as well. And as for going away gift, give her a king sized chocolate cake. It will be gone in minutes.
Not all that shocking when Swanson said he was only staying for two years when he took the job. Now with the upcoming merger it makes sense he wouldn't renew his contract. Maybe the next PD will fix those god-awful traffic reports.
kudos for all those great KGO rosters over many, many #1 rated years! a true professional, he put aside political preferences and rebuilt KSFO from the ruins into a monster conservative station as well!
Was it Swanson's idea to leave? Who will ever know? Will he be remembered for improving KCBS? Mostly, yes. Don't judge KCBS after having lost its traffic voices and replacing them with whoever works for cheap in the face of a sale to Entercom. Judge KCBS for the last two years overall. I think Swanson will be remembered for KGO, and then for fattening up KCBS for Entercom slaughter. He's getting out before there's actual blood, and he can do that.

I don't know what to believe about why Jack is leaving. I do know that the days of company loyalty and the gold watch are long gone. Good luck Jack.

Deletebest wishes to Jack & Mel! SF radio legends! thanks for all you have brought us through the years...
Think Corral or Culross or other long timers may have helped shove Swanson out the door?

Does this mean all of the pompous KGOne people are going too (Bristow, the sports guy -- Kevin The Vermin, etc.)?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is finally time for that idiot blowhard Kevin "The Rat" to get a real job and a real name.
