Ted said Sean is bad for America because he wants everyone to be mindless lemmings like Stanley here. Can't have anyone thinking for themselves or seeing through the bullshit.
I remember Ted in 2003 either on the lead up or during the invasion of Iraq, dressed in desert camouflage getting out of a vehicle that looked like a Hummer. He was acting as if he were Rommel discussing the war. He pimped the war in Iraq like every other main media personality. He has blood on his hands and should not be lecturing anyone. The man is a fraud and a political operativ
I have listen to Ted Koppel for years, although not so much lately. I think he is fair, he has integrity and I'm pretty sure I have heard him being critical of news people or stations on the left. Fact is Hannity is soo much an idelog and if not telling outright lies, will stretch and bend the truth to fit his agenda. This has nothing to do with being conservative, I listen to Tom Sullivan and Michael Medved, John Batchlor and a little to Hugh Hewitt, although I might often disagree with them I find them fair and for the most part honest.
Batchelor and Hewitt are solid. Bill Bennett is even better but doesn't have much of a footprint on the west coast. I listen to him when I have to work in an east coast market. Big in Detroit.
Sullivan and Medved I don't care for as much because they don't have a lot of depth.
What one of the most respected professionals in the long rich tradition of television news jounalism said to one of the least respected pundit personalities was irrefutable. Anyone who thinks differently is an idealogue themselves, without a whit of intellect.
2:47 PM The folks at MSNBC Don't make up Lies like Hannity does?! I remember Hannity telling Folks that Hillary was Dying, she has Seizures, & has days to Live. Or Ted Cruz Father was involved with JFK's Assassination, via the National Enquirer???
CNN, & MSNBC don't make Shit up like Right Wing Cable, Conservative Talk, & the Yellow Journalism like Breitbart News, the Drudge Report, & Alex Jones Info Wars,
As liberal as I am (very), I'm not sure that I agree with Ted. As long as there are a gazillion news organizations, why not cover all viewpoints?
And, I think that 2:47 raises a legitimate question about Ted's view of MSNBC ... which I like.
But, Rich, my question is not "what took so long." It's "why now?" The Tea Party/Freedom Caucus, along with this administration, have rendered Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh & company irrelevant - completely overshadowing their "gig."
A return to this kind of criticism from "yesteryear," may have been music to Hannity's ears.
2:47 No...because MSNBC and "left-wing" media are the watchdogs over our government. I thank God every day for the media for keeping our government in check.
No...because FOX and "right-wing" media are the watchdogs over our government. I thank God every day for the media for keeping our government in check.
Ted Koppel beat on Jimmy Carter for 440 nights. The difference between Koppel and Hannity is that Hannity admits that he is biased and bills his shows as opinion. Koppel bills himself as a hard news reporter. I suppose he really believes that he is. Too bad that he is really the pot calling the kettle black.
Actually, 10:35, the one public face that long ago looked exactly like Alfred E. before glasses, receding hair, and now the long retirement gray beard arrived was none other than David Letterman. Look up Letterman's NBC years, find a photo from that Late Night show and place it next to a MAD Magazine cover. The twin resemblance is creepy.
As for Koppel stating the obvious about the Mannity (crack up nickname once used by obvious lib of yesterdecade Keith Olbermann), Ted's message is what much of mainstream America is saying - we need to start to working together again, and stop cutting Breitfarts, like the Orange Stain folks have been doing in DC. (Look up the over 50 lawsuits filed against the Serial Abuser-in-Chief and his cult following. And we wonder why the Office and its holder can no longer be respected, let alone the 61 million fossil fueled voters?)
Perfect. "Ideology over facts". That's for all FOX news..minus,maybe Shepard Smith.
ReplyDeleteGod Rich...him again? Just when you think it's safe to enjoy the website without some demented dumbass piping in.
DeleteDamn, I thought Rich had banned you! I was just about to donate to Rich, so glad I waited.

Deleteagree
DeleteTed Koppel is the Mark Davis of the media.
DeleteThank you Ted.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Sean has to interrupt him. A common habit of these extreme propagandists, from the left and the right. They are all obnoxious.
ReplyDeleteWould Ted Koppel say the same thing about MSNBC and other left-wing news organizations?
ReplyDelete@2:47...big difference. The left wing doesn't lie like the alt-right nutjobs.
DeleteNo, he wouldn't.
Delete@ 10:25 PM - you are correct...
Delete10:25, 9:15...if you believe that I have some oceanfront property to sell you in Nevada.
Delete2:18 PM You got that right--Nevada, the home of the retired (thankfully) U.S. Senator who lied about Mitt Romney's taxes.

Agreed 100%. Also, numerous accounts of his anger. British Ted, lecturing us on how to run the U.S.
DeleteKoppel, a mud-slinging dinosaur trying to stay relevant.
ReplyDeleteI don't hate Ted Koppel but he and his buddy Charlie Rose come from another time. New York and Los Angeles don't have kind of juice anymore.
DeleteSean Hannity is simply a lying propagandist...
ReplyDeleteHe might be a propagandist, but he believes everything he says.
DeleteSean Hannity is such a POS. Life-long republican and country boy here saying that. He is such a f-ing POS.

Oh man can I have some of what you're smoking? CNN & MSNBC don't lie? You said that with a straight face? You should try stand up comedy!
Delete10:12 AM.
DeleteLINK PLEASE?!
After a while, it's back to sports talk radio for me.
