Ronn Owens Really Can't Stand Michael Savage But Savage Doesn't Care; Savage Has Choice Words For KGO Talker

Seems "Mr. Softie"...the affectation-infection Ronn Owens --Mr. SF KGO Radio Talk machine is quite jealous of Michael Savage, the syndicated talker (heard locally on KSFO from Noon-3 PM)

Owens has been vocally doodling for over forty-plus years --and, like Savage, a National Radio Hall of Famer.

But Ronnnnnnn detests Savage. How do I know? Because every day Owens has a chance to attack Savage, he does. He routinely rips into the good doctor.

This may have been a good instigator.

He said this the other day: "I like him as a talk-show host but I hate him as a person."

Maybe Owens' venom stems from Savage getting adulation like this and Ronnnnnnn no longer drawing attention like the old days when he was the "Mayor of Union Street." Whatever the case, Owens has no love for Savage but Savage has pity on Owens. Asked for reaction by Yours Truly about Ronn's rips on him, Savage was pointed and direct.

"He's (Ronn) just an envious, sick man; I have pity on 'poor Ronn.' Last time I ran into him outside the radio studios on Battery Street I thought he was a homeless man. You can quote me."

Ouch.

  1. Rich, if you poll those of us who have had to work with "The Good Doctor," I'll bet that you'll find that the vast majority agree with Ronn.

I think Ronn is gracious to say that he likes Savage as a talk-show host. I, certainly, wouldn't go THAT far.

    1. My favorite posts! So happy I'm seeing this.

I've worked closely with both, and both dislike me as much as I dislike them. Thing of it is though, they dislike me because I choose to treat them both like the douchebags they are.

THAT SAID...Ronn is BY FAR the bigger douchebag between the two. Michael is a lot of things, and most of them aren't good, but at the very least he has BALLS. He has the guts to tell you what he thinks, be it in an email or "down the line." Probably not to your face because he knew I'd probably knock his false teeth out, but at least you knew where you stood.

Owens is the complete opposite. Gutless would be the only word to truly describe him. Would always try to pass off decisions he made onto other people because he wanted to seem like a good person. But he's not. He's a piece of shit.

When I was working for Savage I once made a comment in front of Ronn about what a dick Mike is. Ronn said, "David, in all my years, I've never met a more unlikable and dishonest person."

I remember thinking, "Go check the mirror, buddy."

    2. I'll add to the above having worked for Michael. When he found out Ron was sick a few years ago he said to me "That's terrible. I wouldn't want anyone to go through that." It was one of the first times in my life I ever saw the man show real compassion and this was about someone he doesn't even like! I was sitting there wondering if someone had kidnapped Michael's brain. Since I don't know Owens I can't say if he would do the same but that's what Michael did and I don't have many good things to say about him these days.

  2. Used to be a BIG Ronn fan due to his support of the Leuk/Lymph Society.
Haven't listened to him in quite awhile mostly due to the crappy format they switched to awhile back.

Will have to try to give him another shot.
BTW...listening to Savage as I type. Started listening to him on rainy weekends preparing dinner when he was a weekend/fill in host.

  3. Ronn was once status and class. Sadly he has fallen to tacky.

  4. Is Ronn Owens still on the radio?

  5. Give Savage credit he has criticized the Trump administration several times already. Although I disagree with him politically he's not a boot licker like Alex Jones who thinks "Trump is perfect". Wtf!?

  6. "I thought he was a homeless man. You can quote me."
That is definitely a major league ouch.
    And it fits.
By the way, Savage is a very dapper man.

    1. It is also very mean spirited, but not surprised coming from Savage. I get that some don't like Ronn's show, or even Ronn as a person, but must we be so mean spirited. Ronn has Parkinson's however, since he has chosen to continue working, being critical of his work is fine, but attacking him for his looks is not. I'm not surprised though, Savage loves to attack people for their looks, which in my eyes makes him small minded, besides last time I looked Savage is no Cary Grant or Paul Newman, they had class, Savage does not, neither does Trump, I can see why they like eachother.

  7. In my opinion, Jewish professionals are the hardest critics of other Jews in that same profession. There are many parallels between the two men. Both are of the same generation. Both have fluctuated between liberal and conservative. Both can be as stubborn today as they have been ambitious earlier in their careers. Both men are extremely competitive, and demanding of coworkers. The job descriptions serve as work, play and a grim sort of catharsis for both of them. Just like Blacks are often the worst nemesis of other Blacks in lateral status. Women vs Women, same thing.

  8. I have not listened to either one in years, they just don't appeal anymore. Ronnnnnnnnnn has two issues with Dr. Savage ,he failed where Savage succeeded in going national and Savage probably earns ten times or more what Owens earns.Enough said.

    1. Plus Savage actually has interacted with a president in person and on the phone whom he helped elect. On the other hand Blowenstein is still butt hurt about Obama not keeping his "promise" to appear on Lowenstein's show if he was elected.

    2. Third, Savage has had numerous successful books.

I do wish Ronn the best.

  9. Who does Savage think he is in that picture, Ernest Hemingway?

    1. Probably. He's a great fan of the author.

  10. Let's see, one can't retire due to his disease even though he really should, the other still hasn't gotten over rejection by his late boss, rock promoter Bill Graham, many moons ago. Storytelling alone has never won me over from a host standpoint. One must know how to report, explain the issues and how it affects listeners, tell consistently updating stories, and promote good product from colleagues, not to mention a great ability to balance rough edges with needed self-discipline. Sometimes the same ol' same ol', no matter the ratings, can get very boring. Nope, not interested in either one, thank you very much. I'm happy with my record collection.

  11. Savage is a HUGE reason Trump was elected president. That is power, Ronn is small time but I still enjoy his show. As for the rest of KGO? Besides A&G, it's absolutely horrible. Chippy Franklin is by far the worst. Dude is nuts and his co host is just as bad. The best was hearing Chippy go nuts when Trump won, live on radio meltdown was fantastic but KGO really should cut the delusional old fool. He makes so mistakes when speaking and always has to be corrected by the annoying co host.
