'Nancy' Mixes It Up With Anchorman in Media Gulch; North Beach Sunday Scene; More 'Razor'; Jessica Castro's Circle7 Star Gets Brighter; KGO Radio 'Interloper'; Monday Opener

Image result for north beach san franciscoRelated image  LET'S CALL HER "NANCY" --it's not her real name but that doesn't matter; Nance is in sales at a local TV shop in the Battery/Broadway corridor; "Media Gulch" they call it. Anyways, Nance is new here from Boston. Single mother. Works hard and well. Makes big splashes and can walk the walk; talk the talk. Boy can she talk! But backs it up both in business and everyday life. A dream 'girl for every man looking around for some inventory. So Nance, (I happen to know her well, she's cool, we're strictly friends) meets some married guy over at Grumpy's. He's going through a blip in his personal life. Oh, he's an anchor too. They begin talking and giggling --nothing out of the ordinary because he's not auditioning and she's not interested. But quickly things change. The wine gets a little more juicy so too the conversation and suddenly everything is off the chart. The only thing missing is Joe Eszterhas taking notes...

*Martha Strand was over at Café Trieste in North Beach Sunday where the weather was so beautiful and mellow the mood had to change and it did: a KRON MMJ was setting up a live shot and all the hubbub and commotion destroyed the ambience. Martha quickly made a detour for Original Joe's and a solid Bloody Mary. See, even bad things turn good.

*More Barbieri: look, Ralph was no doubt beaten down and wounded at the end but he was still the best thing going. The voice was hoarse and his energy was lagging but he still had it--a lot of it. I'd take The Razor at 75% over some of the other schlums who really mail it in--that said, your e-mails and comments speak volumes about Barbieri's popularity. He could have easily lasted another couple of years.

Jessica Castro
*You know this great summer weather is beginning to worry me: I'm waiting for the first moron to worry about a, "DROUGHT!" --I'm kidding but the weather people are freaking out again.

*Jessica Castro of KGO-TV (ABC7) continues to get better and better to a point where if they don't step to the plate and take care of her, Disney SF will lose another Minnie if you know what I mean...

*The "Interloper" at KGO Radio is a robotic-like character that tracks employee business inside the building. It's all in the up and up because most workers are aware of its existence but some senior execs are bitching and moaning so we will monitor and report back to you.

*Joe Vasquez at KPIX: the mystery man.

*Jesse Gary back at KTVU: something seems weird.

*Scott Reiss, one of 4 sports guys at Channel 2 is the least-liked of the four --for reasons that are obvious if you sort of watch Scotty.

*KNBR math: Now roughly 40 minutes of commercials in an hour and only 20 minutes of actual content. The advertisers are taking note and will soon take action.

  1. In my opinion, KGO has the best morning news broadcast and I do think they under utilize Castro. While he can get a little too cute for his own good, Aqui is a very competent anchor and seems to be up on the issues he's reading. Alexis Smith puts the other traffic reporters to shame, especially Theus on KPIX. I know Rich doesn't like the way Mike Nicco pronounces "meteorlogical" but Aqui, Smith, Nicco and Castro are all pros when it comes to handling things on the fly and the broadcast flubs from a production/tech end. I'd much prefer Castro over Zouves in the co-anchor chair. She doesn't smile at inappropriate times and seems to care more about the report than the way her hair cascades down her shoulder like Zouves. Zouves isn't terrible terrible, but Castro seems more professional. As a twitter follower of Castro's, she could give lessons in social media. She has updates of her morning reports and gives updates on her community involvement. I've looked at Zouves' Twitter feed and Castro does none of the food and fashion shots that consume Zouves' feed.

    1. The jealously directed toward Natasha is understandable and quite comical! She is the "most photogenic" woman I have ever seen sitting behind an anchor desk, and is where she belongs.

I will say it again...Once heard a Victoria swimsuit model say, "It's not always easy being a beautiful woman."

Natasha, what a beautiful young woman!!!

    2. Hmmm....I only stop the recording at Alexis Smith's hit. Otherwise, I look for Amy Rorbach, Ginger Zee, and Lara Spencer during the GMA 2 hour feed.

    3. Don't you think it's kinda creepy, writing that about your own daughter, Mr. Zouves?

    4. Most photogenic? Please. I see someone has their "medical" marijuana card...

    5. 3:40...My drug of choice is beautiful women. You can get high on sex, drugs and rock and roll, but my best high is when I see the beautiful face of Natasha!

    6. In what view does Natasha look beautiful???? Terrible voice and fake laughs. Put Jessica as the main anchor reporter, very professional with a good voice. Atleast, she does not exaggerate like the other reporter.

  2. Natasha Zouves and Jessica Castro should switch and have Jessica to morning anchoring and Zouves doing the breaking news desk

    1. No way!

Our sweet Natasha could get broken. We would be very sad.

    2. She could stand to break off a few pounds.

    3. Disagree, put Jessica Castro as main anchor and the current anchor as an outside reporter like Eric Thomas on weekdays.

  5. Razor looked like a child compared to Tolbert knowledge of sports. Kind of like Radnich the last several years.

  6. Often, the least likable stays on any FOX station. Wonder when Fonzi & Reiss will butt heads. (Can't believe Ibanez's amazing patience level sometimes.)

As for the Nance infidelity, is it a KRON anchor? Any guesses, fellow readers?

  7. I'm thinking KGO anchor. Nobody would care about the other channels-ha.
btw? If you posted more photos like that first? Sort of what the British do alongside their hard-so to speak- news?..bigger views. Business woman are a great fantasy.

  8. *Joe Vasquez at KPIX: the mystery man." I've often wondered why Joe looks down to his bottom right during his spiels. Is that where he hides his cheat sheet?

  9. Boy are you waaay off on Barbieri, he was 75% 3 years before they canned him!
40%. And that is being generous, at the end.

  10. Is Eric Thomas on an extended vacation, or been reassigned?

Even by my low standards for news readers, the guy who's filling in for Thomas now on KGO's weekend news is like watching paint dry...when he's not flubbing his lines or making inane chatter even by inane chatter standards.

    I'm sure he's a nice guy, but his Q Score = zero.

  11. Damn--
The picture of that blonde at the top of the post....those are the BEST legs I've ever seen. I had to do a....umm...a "manual frontal trouser re-adjust" after breaking away from staring at it.

  12. KGO is just a stop over for Jessica on her way to New York and GMA. She has that "it factor". She makes a nice appearance and has a way about herself. Natasha in my view doesn't have the same maturity as Jessica. Day and night.
