-- Dana Hahn has just resigned as News Director at KTVU (Fox2-Oakland) 415 Media has learned.
*Newsroom shocked.
*KTVU source: "We're all, like, what? This came out of nowhere."
*No word on immediate interim replacement.
*Hahn well liked at Jack London Square studios ...
*We'll be talking to our sources to get the inside dope, if any exists.
THIS is a DEVELOPING STORY

2: 34 PM UPDATE --A KTVU SOURCE tells me, exclusively, that Hahn's sudden resignation is due to her mother's health situation ...in fact, Hahn, who's been away from her desk at KTVU for the better part of two week, is moving back home to Michigan to deal with the matter.
No FOX controversy here, believe me. Nothing to see here, move along. Godspeed to her mother!
ReplyDeleteWas she responsible for hiring Frank Malicoat? Good Job!!
DeleteI don't want to sound insensitive, but executives use family illnesses as cover stories for firings. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it's the kind of story that one can't confirm (what are you going to do, knock on her mother's door in Michigan?), so you have to take the executive's word for it. Many years ago when an executive was sacked, they would put out a news release saying the executive was resigning to spend more time with their family. That lie was used so many times it became a joke. So today in public relations, you need to have a more complex story, one that can't easily be knocked down. Again, I'm not saying her story is untrue, but it's coming from Fox News/News Corp., so I'd be suspicious.
ReplyDeleteTake an extended LOA for family health matters...don't quit..I'm smelling a managerial rat here...what's her reputation with upper management?
ReplyDeleteWho cares? What are the talk radio shows saying about Trump? What's with Ronn Owens contract? What's going on with Krukow and Larry Bear? We want real news and comment, Rich
ReplyDeleteHave they asked you to be ND?
ReplyDeleteFamily comes first...
ReplyDeleteI'm going to miss Dana Hane. There's a special spot in my heart for her, it's a long story. May she have a great future and peace in her current troubles!
ReplyDeleteApparently that "special spot" doesn't know how to spell her name. You must have been so close.
DeleteHas anyone ever seen a man resign to take care of his mother? Well I know Rich has taken time for his mother. But it's too bad we still have these gender identifying labels- that if the KTVU ND were a man I don't think we'd ever see the reason for his leaving being to go take care of his mother (or ailing family member). That's a shame for both men and women and how we're all kept captive, especially in corporate America, by stereotypical gender roles.
ReplyDeleteI quit a full-time gig and took contract jobs to have more flexibility to take care of my dad while he had Alzheimer's and I'm a guy. Every family is different so you might want to check yourself.
DeleteShe's a leader I could get behind.
ReplyDeleteYou can see right through this announcement, it is a load of BS. News director tenders her resignation with just about two weeks left in the February ratings period? That is not her doing. That is either corporate saying they want her out or the general manager saying "you're gone because we just don't get along." The family issue makes it look good on the surface, but if you've been in television long enough, you quickly learn how to translate management's fancy language when it comes to personnel moves. Best of luck to Dana, I am guessing she got trumped by her boss. It sucks, but that is life in TV.
ReplyDeleteAnd how long haven't you been in television? Do tell...
DeletePeople get fired for all kinds of things. From being disliked by a boss, to falsifying expense reports...
