KTVU's Holmes and Others Dismayed over Fox2 Salary Cuts; Toxic Atmosphere in Jack London Square; $130K The New Max; Dave Clark Diminished Act; KGO-TV Staff Miffed Over Delayed New Set; Giants -CSNBA: MIA: Miller and Flemming Split Post Game Wrap; KNBR Krueger Called Kate Scott 'Horrible'; Tuesday Notes

I've written, exclusively here at 415 Media, about Heather Holmes major irritation that she's not getting paid  (among other things)--in fact, her salary has been cut BIG TIME!

Which would explain her sour mood at KTVU/Fox 2 where most of the anchors are also getting screwed, (in their mind)--see, Fox doesn't like and WON'T pay people. It's not in the playbook, that simple.

Matter of fact, Fox is NOT paying anybody. Holmes had a hefty paycheck with Cox Media, KTVU's former owner.

She's complained it was cut and then they put her on more shows with less money. It's the Fox way.

$130,000 a year is the max for midline anchors AND!, in Holmes' case and others, they have to put in 48 hours a week!  Holmes has been heard complaining to earn her paycheck, but no anchor is trying to hear that.

It's part of the new environment at KTVU's Jack London Square studios and offices where a zombie-like feeling permeates the entire structure.

Whereas in the past any and all people --from the lower-level staff to the major "star" anchors would and could talk freely, now communicating with virtually anyone is tantamount to applying to the Soviet-era Politburo process.

Further muddying the situation is management and its relationship with the rank and file --including writers, producers, and air talent. From day one it's been rocky and now it's almost extinct. Nobody believes the suits and the suits have created a wall so YUGE (that sounds right) many people feel this can only get worse.

*Dave Clark deemphasized --If you've noticed that Dave Clark has seen less air time on "Mornings on Two" you're not the only one. Clark's presence has been significantly decreased --under mysterious circumstances, which only adds to all the other confusion at KTVU. Insiders are saying there's a plethora of reasons, which we will soon discuss at a later time.

*Holmes' status remains the wildcard. I can't, for the life of me, see how valuable she's supposedly become (they CUT! her pay) but I also know they're running out of anchors --at least, from Fox's point of view--anchors that are considered ready for primetime and .not just fill-ins. That normally would be handled by news managers in closed-door meetings but communications has become an afterthought at the once mighty KTVU, er Fox2

*MEANWHILE...NOTES

I'm told staff at KGO-TV are now royally PISSED OFF over the massive delay of Circle7's new set--it's still ways away --you have to figure September is the new target date with August dog days and people on vacation slightly muting the embarrassment ...Weird moments at last night's Giants-Pitt game: first, right after the game, CSNBA anchor, Greg Papa did the Post-Game show minus Duane Kuiper; maybe he had to use the john? It didn't look good but in comparison to what happened next, it was fine...As CSNBA cut to the Post-Game Wrap, both Jon Miller and Dave Flemming were gone. Seems to me these guys are tired and want to go home but it doesn't look good on major-market cable and seems like no one is minding the store...Don't be surprised if there's another SJ Sharks broadcast shake-up not involving Randy Hahn...Looks like this year could be the final season for Cal Football Broadcaster, Joe Starkey, just a hunch, with Roxy Bernstein waiting in the wings...I don't get all the fuss over PIX's Maria Medina, ho-hum...although if she were to replace shit-disturber diva, Michele Griego, that would be fine with me...Dave Lewis's sports updates on KCBS at night are required listening if you like sports...John Rothmann was, AGAIN, on KGO Radio last night during the 7-10 slot --might as well keep him there the rest of the year and settle with the "Drex" guy whose contract is up anyway..."Sarah and Vinnie" are having domestic issues which might explain their show further sucking big time and thus, the rumors are rampant that they're looking for houses in Seattle. Yeah, I know about the new contract but that don't mean crap...there's a ton of outs and clauses in that deal...Attention, Tenderloin!! Gary Radnich is on vacation--you may walk the streets without interruption...Had to laugh KNBR Yazoo Larry Krueger blowing and falling all over himself to supreme NOTHING, Kate Scott. Geez, Krueger once told me he thought Scott was horrible and that it was a "KNBR thing" to make the boobs promote her because, well, she was Kate Scott! What a complete joke, are you LISTENING, Bruce Jenkins, Scott Ostler, and all the other morons who bow to Scott. What a joke.

  1. Its not the KTVU way. It was always the same 2 in the morning, same 2 in the evening ,same 2 on the weekends.
Now..its Frank and Heather and Wayne and even Julie who I think being least moved around must be really more of an angry don't f with me type. The others have more fear for their jobs. All being rotated willy nilly- excuse my language.
FOX really does nothing right but the Simpsons. Only because they were desperate 30 years ago. A cartoon.

    1. I understand that when they were negotiating The Simpsons back in the late 80s, James L. Brooks said his one condition was no interference from the suits. He didn't want a fancier conference room or more perks. He just said no suits reading scripts and telling him what to change. Today that would never happen, but then they were so desperate to be in business with a big name that they said yes. So what they "did right" was doing nothing--which is usually how it works when it comes to management.

  2. I watched KRON's 8 for the first time last night in a while. Oh my God, the mistakes! Wrong video, no video, sound dropping out, mikes not turned on, wrong teases, nonsensical teases, nonsensical leads, and at one point someone walked in front of the camera while Steve was talking! You see a head go by (I think it was Liviakis). Seriously, freshman college news is more polished and better written and produced.

      Thanks for the laughter :)

Wait. Is this Pero trying to lure viewers with slapstick newz?

  3. 130k for working in a glamour profession is pretty decent. No lifting, get to stay indoors...play with clothes and makeup...play on bookface and chapsnap all day with other news Bff's.

  4. Heather Holmes may have to consolidate or cull her massive fancy shoe collection. Shameful.

  5. 10:18am - so true. KRON's newscasts are so low quality its funny. The stories are so simplistic, nothing earth shattering or new, just the basics...and often times even that is a stretch. Then you have all of the mistakes like you mentioned. That is what you get when you operate with a shoe-string staff and don't pay squat.

  6. I think Kuiper is totally losing it, after calling the Pirates reliever by the wrong name for almost half an inning (7th/8th?) - with 2 Giants on base he exclaimed "BASE HIT!", right before Andrew McCutchen caught the ball...I have to believe this is considered a major blunder for a play by play guy...

    1. Jon Miller on the radio broadcast initially thought it was a hit too.

Supposedly Dave Flemming was on assignment again or something last night . . . explains his absence from the postgame wrap.

    2. Lon Simmons was uncanny at calling a HR as soon as it left the bat. You always knew when Lon said "DEEP FLY,WAY BACK,WAY BACK"..Bye Bye Baby was following.
Kuiper?..I just wait and see..no matter how much he winds up the call..ya never know unless you can tell yerself. Not needing his reaction.
But,he's funny and gotten better over the years at conversational filler. He used to call a game with the enthusiasm of a mortician. PTL,he got over that.

    3. Tell it goodbye. Bye bye baby was for Russ Hodges

    4. Yes, Flemming was off doing an ESPN game. It was strange listening to the wrap up, Miller sounded like he was fine but then he disappeared right before the wrap. Maybe the product on the field made him sick.

    5. Oop. Tell it goodbye and with a fade as crowd noise was amped up- yep, that was Lon.

  8. Re: the Sharks ... Please tell me Jamie Baker is moving back to radio or better yet leaving altogether? He is the worst color man they've ever had. I'd much rather see Bret Hedican ( that's Mr. Yamaguchi btw ) along side Randy Hahn ( still Mr. Gonzales for the time being as far as we know ). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE !!!

  9. Maria is a smoke show. Super hot body and she reads the news well too!

  10. KTVU should let Heather go and hire Katie Marzullo. Katie is intelligent, attractive and can report from the field or anchor with confidence.

  12. Perhaps Fox is picking the pockets of their employees to pay off the women who have sued Roger Ailes. This generally the way it is done so not to use corporate profits. Picking of an employees pocket is also a way of getting one to leave.

  13. @2:53 yes to Maria Medina, she is sexy! How about Kira Klapper (although she is pregnant now)? My fave is still Peggy Bunker! Janelle and Jessica are still good at KNTV, also.

  14. Frank Malicoat should team up with Gasia on the morning news to compete with KPIX 5. Ratings should definitely increase big time if that happen.

  15. $130k wouldn't have covered Van Amburg and Pete Giddings' non-cash perks. And that was 30 years ago!

  16. I had the Mork and Mack show of knbr on early. This is what I heard: Dude? Duuuuuuuuude. DUDE! Dudelol... Dude*
