It was refreshing and insightful too; Shandobil called Trump's speech, "Nixonian"more than "Reaganesque." How intriguing, precisely the reason I'm assuming KRON went after Shandobil in this big election year.
The first thing that comes to mind watching Shandobil: why isn't he doing this on KTVU, where he spent most of his career? Remember, Shandobil left the old KTVU when it was fairly civil and when it wasn't screwing up graphics every night and when its anchors weren't embarrassing the station and themselves.
Shandobil appearing on KRON, even in a limited position, says a lot about KTVU in its present state.
Oh, credit due department: I've ripped KRON ND, Aaron Pero, countless times but I give him props here for getting Shandobil to vacate early retirement and offer his analysis, it's a good move.
*After the Trump speech, which went beyond prime time in the East, just for the heck of it, I turned on KGO Radio to hear what was on and lo and behold, John Rothmann was hosting --the astute political analyst and entertaining host was talking and holding court on an extraordinary evening.
It was vintage KGO, imagine that: intelligent, cogent, interesting callers and a guy clearly in his element talking and engaging with the audience. What a concept! Again, I'll give KGO credit for doing the right thing, for a change--putting Rothmann on was respect for the audience, however dwindling that is in KGO's case, but it's a good start, particularly during this Election.
If KGO really wanted to show some gumption, they'd put Rothmann on late at night, permanently --a time spot he likes anyway--and possibly restore some good will toward a Bay Area radio audience --yearning for political discussion on the radio.
