How bad is this?
KTVU, an Oakland station used a, get this, LA-based, Fox News correspondent, Lauren Blanchard, for a story on the Oakland Police on-going situation.
KTVU IS IN OAKLAND! And they're using LA reporters to cover stories IN OAKLAND?! Am I missing something here or is there something rotten going on, I don't get it.
Neither does, apparently, KTVU, eh, Fox2.
This is rather extraordinarily embarrassing and I believe I'm being kind.
If I were overseeing the news department at KTVU in Oakland I would probably think about some severe adult beverage consumption later tonight and try to figure out just what the hell I'm doing.
Just for starters.
My wife noticed the same thing, said "WTF? That's embarrassing." And she's not even in the business.
ReplyDeleteHo Lee Fuk. Sum Ting Wong if they can't even send a local reporter down the street from Jack London Square to cover a story.
ReplyDeleteWas this over the weekend? KTVU expends very little in the way of resources on weekend stories.
ReplyDeleteThere's supposed to be one reporter on duty for each weekend shift. What if there were breaking news?
DeleteHopefully your overseer of the news dept is also updating his resume'. But strong adult beverage would be good too.
ReplyDeleteYes I saw it too and wondered how bad things could be to have to go to LA for a local story. It was over the weekend, and the lead news story.
ReplyDeleteWell what's next with KTVU - I suspect they will have the Cat Brook's Show (Oaktown Activist and OPD critic). Maybe they will have a Willie Situation where those involved in the stories are used as a way to report them like the Chron/SF Gate does? What way to better carry the dystropic plans to better Oaktown?
ReplyDeleteRidiculous. Embarrassing. Bullshit. Fuck Fucks2.
ReplyDeleteWhat a joke!
ReplyDeleteGotta be pretty demoralizing for the "talk like a pirate" crew. Maybe KTVU wants to set an example of how good newscasting can sound.
ReplyDeleteBut Mr.VP of News...
ReplyDeleteI saved you MONEY!
That is a better looking reporter than most of the local ones.
ReplyDeleteAt one time, KTVU and KRON (before losing NBC) set the gold standard for local news broadcasts with KGO and KPIX not too far behind. IMHO, KNTV is the most reliable station in the Bay Area. KGO slipped a notch after the Reggie and Natasha, the demotion of Katie Marzullo, and the Carolyn Johnson debacle.
ReplyDeleteBoy, that really is bad. Think if it were radio -- it'd be as if, let's say, KGO had no local morning personalities and had to pipe in some second-rate syndicated show from Sacramento.
ReplyDeleteoh no, ... KGO tv is gonna fire the morning tv news crew ?
Delete.... and we get Sacramento tv news ?
