Another one bites the dust; it's not official yet but it's done...The person I'm hearing that will replace either Ronn or Chip Franklin in the 9-Noon/12-3 sounds like an early April Fools joke so I'll hold off for now.
Says a lot about Cumulus that they hired Randall Bloomquist when his philandering ways and sheer incompetence were a matter of record. Bloomquist couldn't get a job as a radio station janitor for six years and then they put him charge of their entire talk division. If he hadn't gotten caught with his pants down, literally, at KGO, Bloomquist would still be running the company the rest of the way in the ground.
KGO has been the victim of poor decision for years now. Of course listenership dropped off. Other than Ronn, you got rid if all the great hosts with new ones not worth listening to. Then in the early morning, they started playing recordings of Ronn's show to fill dead time. When I heard that I stopped listening. How sad to lose one of the great Bay Area stations to suicide.
It won't be Gil Gross because Cumulus isn't smart enough to have him. I'm pretty sure they are going after the younger and/or more right wing listener (if they exist in that combination). Gil has a very interesting show with great interviews and he is very informed and explains what is happening in our world in a very thorough way. He is much better on 910 than he was on 810.
I don't think Chip is a goner. His voice is all over that inspirational garbage that's running on KGO right now. Unless they made him go do the Q&A, edit it...then fire him.
I saw Chip and his wife having lunch at Harris Ranch on Highway 5 heading south back to San Diego in a U Haul. He was on his phone yelling at- Rich Uncles -,"what do you mean I can't get my money back".

Filling your ears full of cement is the ONLY way to make the awful sounds end.
Chip is a grinder. His website says so.

DeleteSuicide is the perfect word to describe what happened to KGO Radio. All of Cumulus's decisions have proven to be failures.

john rothman used to be my neighbor when i was a kid
he frequently allowed myself, bro and sis to peruse his massive library (he still keeps the apt as his office/library)
when he made it on air, my mom never missed any of his shows
my mom passed about a month ago, and i know that one of her happiest moments of the past few months, was listening to john when he did a fill in
when kgo was talk...she never missed a show....that's loyalty...and it doesnt exist anymore
