Bay Area TV/Radio Outlets Leave Programming to Cover San Bernardino Shooting Incident; KRON Stays With 'Hollywood Live'

Almost ALL Bay Area TV News stations; KTVU, KPIX, KGO and KNTV, have left regularly scheduled programming to cover the ongoing shooting incident in San Bernardino --curiously, only one, KRON has continued to stay with their regular program, "Hollywood Live."

Both KGO Radio and KCBS are staying, for now at least, with network coverage of the shootings in San Bernardino --

Only KRON would stick with their Hollywood Horseshit in this time of tragedy & sadness. Fuck KRON & Fuck You, Bill.

  3. KRON doesn't have a network, so where would their network feed come from?

    1. They get CNN and can also hook up with local stations close to the scene.

  4. This comes as a surprise? This is where television is going. Right down the dumper. There's no community responsibility. It's all now fiduciary. What a joke.

  5. Who's feed is KRON going to pick up? They are a local station with no national company to tap into for information. Perhaps they can send Digital Boy down there.

    1. I would expect KRON to pick up TMZ's coverage.

  6. Seriously, who cares that KRON is not covering the same thing that is available on every other channel? There's no point in wall to wall duplication.

  7. Hey Rich, did you hear the knbr morning show today? In the 5am hour the frat boys were briefly making jokes about a baseball player who spoke out somewhat jokingly against people who take dumps and don't wash their hands afterwards. Then miss Kate T. Scott chimes in and admittedly says something along the lines of, "If I had used proper bathroom hygiene over the Thanksgivg holiday break, I probably wouldn't have gotten so sick." After that quip from Scott, the boys went kinda silent / speechless for a split second. It was the funniest thing ever. Not only did 'Poop Stains Scott' out herself as someone who doesn't wash her hands after going, she definitely lost what little respect she had with the frat boys and the audience.

  9. I am listening and watching Carolyn Johnson on the feed from KNBC L0s Angeles.
Damn, she’s good!! What a pro!! It makes me realize what our loss on local TV is.
In the midst of all of this tragedy, it is nice, indeed, to have a calming influence. Shades of the San Bruno coverage...

  12. Just FYI here in Hartford New Haven CT the live coverage on network affiliates was typically to 730pm EST.

  13. I listened to KGO for the most part, also had 1530 am Sacramento on (all radio) good live coverage, later in the day when I was driving to work I switched to 910 am, about 4 p.m. and those 2 new guys (forget their name they are so insignificant) and they were talking about chicken soup. Seriously.

  14. It's amazing and sad how television news managers haven't changed in their thinking. They want the viewers to see a local face on the coverage so they send a local reporter to do live shots and not to break any new information. Here's "our" reporter telling you the same stories you can hear/watch on a dozen other channels.

    1. True. I also find it funny more than sad when a reporter is doing an interview, and the camera cuts away to a shot of the reporter shaking her head "yes" (usually it's a female) or being teary-eyed and shaking her head "no". It's about the reporter, not the story.

    2. Nod her head yes, shake her head no. Can't have it both ways.
