KTVU Apologists; Alert The Interns; Frank Somerville And Mark Ibanez Are Not Sellouts, But Close; I Pick On Everyone; 'NightBeat' Life Support: PIX Doesn't Care; Krasny Insomnia On KQED; Tuesday Media Deli

I SEE THE KTVU APOLOGISTS and interns were out in full force Monday.

Sorry class, IT IS NEWS when a news chopper's pilot--KTVU's responsibility--has a second medical condition that results in another emergency landing.

Common sense should indicate that there's something wrong here--but maybe I'm overestimating the intelligence of some of you folks.

And by the way, I'm not picking on KTVU. If you read this blog with regularity I pretty much pick on everybody, I'm an equal opportunity picker. I just didn't suddenly go off on deep end and decide I was going to rip apart KTVU, they've been doing that themselves just fine lately.

Want proof? Ask KPIX. Further? KRON, although they too being KRON do a fine job.

--If you want false takes this is not your destination.

--Frank Somerville, you have been Foxified. Fully. You too, Mark Ibanez. I wouldn't go so far to say you guys are sellouts --but you're getting close. Mike Mibach, Mr. Softie, is a sellout. But he's a nice guy and talks real well, like a pirate.

--You know it's getting spooky at FOX2 when they've put a gag order on the entire staff--nobody can talk to me --if caught, they immediately have to work for the KPIX 'NightBeat.'

--KTVU new promo slogan: "At least we're not KRON." Back-Up slogan: "There's only one 4."

NOTES:

Even if 'Nightbeat' is on life support, PIX still plans keeping the 1/2 hour news feces on the air in its present form with the woman who touches her hair every five minutes and facebooks sweet nothings to her friends: GAME ON!!...Hey, Dennis, quit looking at her!....Michael Krasny used to have gumption. Now he thinks his shit is so precious he's interviewing experts on cryonics...Bruce Jenkins in the Chron just loves Kate Scott. He's the one...I'm sorry to report that KGO's Katie Marzullo lost her father recently--we wish Katie and family condolences ...Hey, Kate Scott, you should watch Michelle Tafoya--now there's a real woman sports journalist who knows her shit...Memo to Tracey Watkowski, ND at KGO: You gave Heather Ishimaru's old desk to Natasha Zouves? Nice of you --quite sentimental and probably added more zeros to the settlement check that, I'm sure, Disney lawyers will cut to HI...Tim Kawakami: when Timmy has a fissy-hit with you on Twitter, he blocks. Hey Tim? Screw you...The Giants are not thrilled with Dave Flemmings' broadcast schedule even if, publicly, they say so. You'll know why soon...

--Gary Radnich KISSES Darya's ass because he has to--straight from management.

FINALLY: If you want business as usual and wonder bread media minutiae here, this is not your site. Go over the sports guy or have a pastrami with mayo on it and read Ben Fong-Torres.

    1. I actually love gefilte fish, especially with the red horseradish --great with the herring too.

  3. Cumulus changes. SVP/Programming Jan Jeffries is fired. CEO Mary Berner was scheduled to visit SF and other markets this week but cancelled.

  4. Lieberman ROCKS! Great stuff today and you've been a roll lately. Keep it up.

As for Bruce Jenkins and Kate Scott: His tripe made me lose my breakfast the other day. Who made him the Town Crier and her publicist? What does she have in her closet about the surfing lover?

Kate Scott sucks. She has no substance. If she was in Chicago, she'd be run out of town. But this is San Francisco, one of the most diverse markets in America. Her shtick and background sell well here. Nearly all of the KNBR listeners are brain dead zombies. She's definitely not ESPN-level talent (see Jaymee Sire, ex of Comblast Spots Bay Area).

Man, this market really sucks. And it's true. Thank goodness for satellite radio and TV. And the New York Times online.

    1. To say Kate Scott sucks is giving her more credit than she deserves. I change the station as soon as I hear that skank.

  6. "KTVU new promo slogan: "At least we're not KRON."

Darya and Radnich aside, KRON has several notables. Marty Gonzalez is great as are KRON's field, a.m. desk and evening crew.

  7. Sooooo tired of Bruce Jenkins' pimping Kate Scott. I get the Cal Golden Bear connection, but Bruce is losing all credibility with folks that KNOW Kate has no
talent. She has been a zero on KNBR and the PAC-12 work will confirm the fact
that she is over her head.

  8. Michele T: A pro.

    Kate T: Oh no!

    Tafoya: Well-schooled at Cal

    Scott: UnBEARable.

  9. Rich, I heard on the radio somewhere ( Gil Gross ? ) that the Feds are offering big bucks for the Digital TV bandwidths and are offering KRON 4 and others around $400 Million each for it. Have you come across that ?

  10. Rich: why are you always on krasney ? starting to read like personal attacks vs critiques of FORUM....what's your real beef with that program ?

    1. Because Krasney IS a pompous ass? Back when I used to listen to KQED, I'd always tune out during his show. Even his promos are painful to listen to, and that's been the case for decades.

  11. Your last comment is DEAD ON. Benny is a shrill. A veritable homer for radio stations. Namby pamby crap. He's all about himself. Uses the "I" pronoun like he bought it on special. Only means he's insecure. Who the hell are you anyway? A waste of newsprint, that's what you are.
