Friday Quick Morning Darts

*Don't remind KGO Radio staffer George Ramirez that Angela Corral got the ND job.

*If you dummies who really believe that the KTVU banner graphic, "San Burno" was an innocent typo, I've got a bridge to sell you, Ho-Le Fuk.

*Since no one else in this town wants to investigate KTVU's latest fuck-up, I'll take control and boy do I have something for 'ya ll--coming soon.

*Tony Bruno has the morning show job at 95.7 FM 'The Game' if he were to want it. Bruno is taking care of his 92 year-old mother in Philly and that trumps everything. Good for Tony Bruno. Priorities.

*"Just an innocent typo" --a reader explaining the latest KTVU gaffe. Anyone else minus KRON and yeah, sure, an innocent typo. KTVU has lost the benefit of the doubt. Ask the Cox family.

*Sept. 11, 2001: dead asleep listening to then, newsman, Ray Woodson, on KNBR describe the scene in Lower Manhattan.

*My God, 14 years. Can't fathom that.

Later.

  1. I, too, first heard the horrible news on KNBR. Car radio.

  2. Couldn't Tony Bruno do the 95.7 morning show from Philly? 9am-1pm east coast.

Hey George, you got a problem with Angela getting the job you think you were entitled to? Get over it. Take it up with the Who Gives A Zip Shit & A Fuck You, Charlie Dept..

  4. Why not hire Tony Bruno for mornings? He could easily do the show on his own, from his place back east, via ISDN line. Papa has done his innuendo-filled, afternoon creepshow via ISDN several times so why not? 95.7 has to know Bruno would take a huge bite out of KNBR's morning numbers.

  5. Damn 14 years!? Time flies by without mercy. I recall being half asleep and hearing the news from Ed Baxter when KGO was still great. Headed to the office and everyone looked like zombies. We were all sent home to "grieve" as we saw fit. John Rothman was at the helm at night and talked us through the meaning of it all. Savage was on fire. I'm sure he will play excerpts from that legendary show. Wasn't this at the time when Gene Burns was in a comma?

    1. I also heard Ed Baxter, and their business/market reporter from New Jersey discussing the smoke from the first plane as a possible 'accident', before the second plane hit the other tower.

Now I don't listen to KGO anymore.

    2. Like 9:44 I was half asleep, he said something about school closing, and I thought there had been a school shooting. I woke up a little late for a weekday (I was self employed and usually didn't start work in my home office until around 9 a.m.) then something about a plane might have gone down in Pennsylvania, and the World Trade Center, I was certainly wide awake, jumped out of bed, turned on the TV, and saw the towers burning. I lived in New York when the towers where being build, but I had never been inside of them, I always I would someday when I visited friends in the area. Anyway I sat glued to the TV all day, except for calls I made to friends, and like 9:44 I listened to John Rothmann at night, and as always he made sense, he is still very much missed on the radio. Now we have idiots or boring hosts like Drex, if he ever comes back? Joel and Corey, at least for part of Gill's show he had a decent interview, with a few people yesterday. I'm hoping KGO sees ratings going up while Pat Thurston is filling in for Drex and they will fire him.

  6. If Tony Bruno were to take the morning gig at 95.7, I might actually listen once in awhile. Though if truly it's his if he wants it, why couldn't he do it from Philadelphia? Many broadcasters have done that sort of thing before. Seems like a pretty simple solution if both sides really want it to work.

  7. Tony Bruno is a good son. Show that you care now, Tony. Do not wait, till it's too late. That was my mistake with my mother. Our last contact was me sending her a snippy little note about something minor.

  8. I know what today is, and I'm grateful there have been no other attacks on American soil to equal 9/11. But forgive me my self centered thoughts, please. I just noticed I wear the same sized 42 waist Dockers that I wore on that date. I guess I've already achieved maximum fatness. I am far more at ease on the computer than I was back then. Around 9/11/2001, I was still using WebTV. Only years later, did I jump into the deep water and buy a used Windows 7 from Best Buy. My clerk was well under 30, had jeweled nose rings, blue and crimson hair, she had to go get her manager to advise on WebTV. It was something her Dad used to use too.

  9. Hi Rich,

Do you happen to know who the new kid on the block was with Larry Beil ABC 7 News at 4PM yesterday?

  10. They can't afford Bruno. And though the $ might be similar to what he may have earned in the past somewhere else, it isn't enough to live well in SF, or the majority of the rest of the Bay Area.

    1. Bruno and Radnich were painful to listen to. Two old white guys who thought they were hip, and dropped dated references which to the two of them thought were "cutting edge", but were anything but, further exposing the fact they are both obsolete. At least Gary doesn't have that insufferable 'East Coast" guy thing going on. Bruno should have to pay for his air time.

  11. To quote Sgt. Friday in Dragnet can we get ""just the facts, please" sans the profanity? It kind of muddles the message.

  12. Tony Bruno is a absolute bore, but so is the morning show on KNBR.

  13. How many damn Corrals are there in Bay Area broadcasting?

I don't listen to radio that early anyway, but I sure wouldn't be interested in listening to a Bay Area show produced in Philadelphia. It's bad enough when we get people doing the Bay Area broadcasts from LA.

  15. Speaking of KTVU, Heather Holmes (on tonight at 10) is way better than Keba A ....
Hope Julie get well soon. ...Also liked Noelle Walker's report too!

  16. I met George Ramirez before. He is a talker who does not spend anytime confirming what he says, ... Is George still putting black shoe polish on his hair?

  18. 14 years ago, I was listening to Sarah and Vinnie on Alice KLLC, and at first, thought they were joking (in poor taste). Then, I realized it was no joke, and I immediately switched from the radio to the TV.

    Will never forget
