Liccardo Gets Silenced By The Ronn/KGO Mute Button; KGO Does Away With ABC7 Weather Folks; Newsroom Mood Is Extra Foul

We also heard from a good source that the mayor was so pissed he was going to bring it up on the Ronn Owens show on KGO Radio Tuesday Morning.

That is, unless the KGO Mute Button were utilized --bam!

A few listeners heard the show and said the bureau issue was never brought up. Furthermore, KGO doesn't have its 7-day archive anymore! What timing!

That's not the only thing going on at KGO--cheap-minded Cumulus has done away with ABC7's weather anchors including Mike Nicco. News feeds from Comcast? GONE! Why even have monitors? Newsroom sources say the mood inside the building is, as you could imagine, in the dumps.

Still NO News Director --Still NO Program Director--What a lovely operation!

  1. Fuck KGO. Why is that schmuck Lowenstein still around? He adds nothing.

Fuck the media conglomerates. They want to turn us into puppets or robots.

We don't need to take your shit. Shove it up your ass. Fuck you.

  2. I'll bet Owens begged Liccardo not to mention the KGO South Bay departure in return for something. And to the individual(s) who don't like my joke postings, take it up with Mr. Lieberman, it's his website. If I donate $ to fund this, I don't see what your problem is. Don't like it? Don't read it. As Eric Cartman once said, "No, Fuck YOU."

    1. What my problem is, Trey, is this. Giving a donation to the blog does not grant you any special right or rank. You, as a douche, don't get it. It's not a funny-funny blog for your insipid stupidity. Either that, or the quality of what is a service to media commenters is long lost and not worth it at all.

  3. 12:42 PM, Touche'!....Trey Parker just got sliced and diced by this writer, and he probably still doesn't realize what just happened.

  4. KGO is, by-and-large, a complete joke. On the news side, John Lobertini is the only thing that adds a modicum of credibility to their news operation. He's a seasoned newsguy with lots of TV experience in the Sacramento and Bay Area markets. Too bad got stuck working for this POS operation after getting screwed by KPIX along with Bill Schechner. He's probably been blackballed out of TV after suing CBS. As far as talk goes, the station is an also-ran as well. Other than Ronn Owens and Chip Franklin, it's uber-left progressive ideologues such as Craft, Thurston and Copeland who are so extreme that they're the antithesis of Mark Levin and Michael Savage, or it's mind-numbed, Hollywood happy-talk radio ala Drex. What a contrast to the late, great Gene Burns that used to occupy that timeslot.

  5. What he should have done and might have tried to arrange would have been a meeting with KGO management.

It's a business decision and with the large, profitable companies in San Jose, the closing of this little office doesn't mean much.

  6. Yes, we all (or most of us, I assume) miss Gene as well as John Rothmann, however I don't agree that Christine, Pat and Brian are extreme, Christine is a very pro gun advocate ( a point I disagree with her on) I find Brian to be fairly middle of the road, probably a little left to Ronn, Pat can be extreme, and I often don't agree with her or her guests, but she is intelligent and well informed. I don't think either of these host comes close to be the opposite of Savage and Levin, beside both Savage and Levin have lousy personalities, Mike Malloy and perhaps Bernie Ward would be more accurate to describe them as opposite Levin and Savage. Anyway right wing radio has made a killing with uber right wing hosts for years, (Rush, Hannity, Levin, Sussman, Savage etc.) what would be so wrong if the left did the same. I'm not saying that is what I want, I'm just saying if the right can do it, why not the left??

  7. The interview is available via podcast (the 10am hour from June 30). So far I'm over 2/3 thru it. No sign Liccardo even dared bring up the south bay bureau.

  8. Mike Nicco was back broadcasting the weather on channel seven this morning, July 6.
