San Jose Mayor Steamed That KGO Radio Closes Its South Bay Bureau And Plans On Telling Ronn Owens This Morning But Can He? Will KGO/Cumulus Put The Mute Button On Sam Liccardo?

One of the biggest gripes against the closure of the KGO Radio South Bay Bureau happens to be San Jose Mayor, Sam Liccardo.

No big news there.

But Liccardo is so steamed that he's planning on bringing the matter directly to the source.

That might be a problem

Liccardo is scheduled to be on the Ronn Owens Show this (Tuesday) morning. And Liccardo, I'm told by a source, would like to ask Owens himself...on the air. The question now is how Owens and his producer try to vex the plan, in essence censor the mayor. Not saying it's not going to come up but KGO has a history of silencing the lambs --it and Cumulus doesn't take to liking its assorted dirty laundry make the airwaves.

This much is certain. Liccardo is supposedly steamed that his city and region is being pushed aside by KGO even though KGO apparently doesn't have the money to keep its bureau open and staffed with reporters. You would think even dumb Cumulus would want a presence in the heart of Silicon Valley but apparently they didn't get the memo. Maybe their too busy handing out SweetJack coupons.

Give a listen to Ronn today. If Liccardo is silenced we'll know first hand that the mute button has been used on the mayor of the second biggest city in California.

  1. Speaking of the "mute" button....Cumulus has apparently used it on KGO TV's weather guy, Mike Nico (Nicco?), who of course used to do weather for KGO radio....he's conspicuously missing this morning, and "Dear John" is doing all the weather, with nary a mention of Nicco..........passing strange. But then, not really.

    1. Nicco wasn't on tv either - perhaps he was just off for the day.

  2. What's wrong with a little confrontation on the radio? Let's see if Lowenstein and the fuckalls can handle the truth. Go get 'em Sammy!

    1. Hmph, knowing Ronnnnn, he'll just shove a bagel in Liccardo's mouth; his way of telling him to shut his hole. For as Kamala Harris recently said, "I don't have time for this shit!!"

  3. I hope they discuss the daily Latino crime or the Vietnamese bikini bar shootings usually with some form of illegal gambling in the backroom.

    1. Yeah, what happened. Did he address the hemorrhaging police/fire departments? How dare they not want to work for less money and with no backup from the city council.

  6. I tried to listen to the show past tense but there no longer seems to be a "Seven Day Archive" and the podcasts ended last week. You would think they could stay consistent but maybe they just like having things so unreliable that everyone gives up.

    1. I had the same experience. Was out and doing errands and wasn't able to listen live --tried to listen via their archive, only they don't have that service anymore. Incredible.

  7. According to the Mayor's Twitter feed, he has a picture in studio at the mike, but nothing that I can find about what he said to Owens….
