KTVU Cancels Coverage Of Gay Pride Parade Sunday On Its Web Channel; UPDATE: GM Kelly Responds; Source: Wants No 'Nudity and Language'

KTVU had scheduled to carry the Gay Pride Parade in SF Sunday--streaming it live on its web channel --when, out of the blue, GM, Greg Kelly, cancelled it for no apparent reason.

Considering Friday's monumentally historic Supreme Court Decision on Gay Marriage, one would think the Castro would be a significant focal point and news site for coverage.

Maybe I'm missing something.

UPDATE: 2: 02 PM PST

A KTVU SOURCE tells me that GM, Greg Kelly wanted no part of the parade because of "nudity and language."

I've reached out to Kelly to respond.

  1. Congrats and to each their own however based on 2013 NHIS data 1.6% of the US population considers themselves gay. Is this really warranting of a parade?

Where's the parade for our returning vets?

According to the 2014 Census, the population of he U.S. is 318 million.
According to the VA, 2.5 million Americans served since the Global War on Terror began shortly after the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks.

This means less than 1% (0.08%) of the population served in OEF/OIF/OND.

So...by your logic, a parade is also not warranted for our returning veterans.

    2. @2:24. According to Gallup 2012....

On this Veterans Day 2012, about 13% of U.S. adults overall are veterans, including 24% of men and 2% of women.

1.6% of the US population is LGTB, 13% are veterans.

I can't wait for our veterans to get their parade and wall to wall coverage.

I'm pretty sure they'll keep their clothes on so KTVU can cover it.

    6. ISIS recognized the US Supreme Court decision today by executing 4 gay men who were pushed from the top of a building to a cheering mob below. Some of them tweeted #LoveWins. Pictures showed them hanging the men upside down, holding them by their feet, and then letting them drop.

  4. I don't think you are missing anything. I think what is missing, is the previous owners of channel 2 (Cox Broadcasting). Fox is synonymous with all kinds of rwnj.

  5. No nudity & language on TV? Perish the thought! For as Theodore Roosevelt once said, "This shit's boring, what else is on?"

    1. Thankfully, faux Ken, your kind of person is being thrown out of the SFBA due to price hikes. My kind is in style. :) :) SFBA is leaning much more middle and center these days. And we're working.

  6. You covered Donald Trump before, and now Donald Trump fights back against Univision. He has banned any employee of Univision from using his golf course, which is right next to Univision headquarters in Florida. Touche! Here's a guy who really knows how to say "get out!"
