  1. Thanks for remembering BIll on this joyous occasion! A point up to the heavens directed to Phil Smith and Franklin Mieuli, too!

    1. I was thinking of visiting Franklin's grave to see if anyone put a flag or flower on it in celebration. It's always been empty, even during the holidays there were no flowers. He's in Gate of Heaven cemetary in Los Altos hills, right around the corner from my grandfather and grandmother. Another Bay Area sports type celebrity in there is Father Jim Mifsud, the "Never Give Up" priest who was always around the 49ers all those Super Bowls ago. Regarding Franklin...they did pick him out a crypt at the top facing the foothills. Great spot. You wouldn't know he was there unless you happened to look up at the upper row.

    2. Thanks for sharing that, 6:11. That would be a nice gesture; one I may also consider the next time I'm in that area. I'll be sure to bring a memento from this season's championship season, a flower, and maybe even a deerstalker cap!

    3. @ 6:11 PM....
Speaking of Franklin Mieuli, & the 49ers, did the Yorks ever pay Franklin's Family members the 5% ownership that they owed them??? I do remember that the Yorks were contesting the pay out to Franklin's Family, and I wonder was the matter ever resolved...

    4. One reason Mr. Mieuli's grave is never visited is that so many people think he's still alive, when they're really looking at A's-49ers Banjo Man Stacy Samuels. Another RIP-er, Mr. Tell-It-Goodbye, Lon Simmons, pointed out the Samuels-Mieuli resemblance during an A's broadcast in the 1980s-1990s. It's the only time I remember Bill King losing his concentration laughing so hard. (King laughed many times on the air, but usually with control; not when Lon called Stacy Franklin that night.)

    5. I went to elementary school and high school in San Jose with one of Frank's grandsons. His father, Frank's son, had 4 or 5 kids at that time. They lived around the corner from Rainbow Park on the San Jose/Cupertino border. I believe they are still there now. If that 49ers payout is true, they have to be rolling in money. I know they had just purchased a radio station back then (1988) and remodeled the house (been in it a few times, just a run of the mill track home in San Jose with a 2nd story added). I met Frank at the school a few times. I wish I knew now who he was then (his significance). And yes, he was wearing the hat.

Holy Toledo indeed, considering the state of Bay Area media today, for as Al "Jazzbeaux" Collins once eloquently said, "Who sat in my chair?!? I smell someone else's Ass!!!"

  4. Bill is probably comparing the win to something like Mozarts interlude no.9
Speaking of Oldies..Doug McConnell is doing a new bay area show. Doug, needs to update his look. Still has the 80's straight legged faded jeans with white tennis shoe's outfit and a pink -yes pink- shirt ON A HIKE. The guy is seriously pigeon toed when he walks too.
No new Mutley. I miss that dog.
