415 Media Summer Sunday Funday; NBA Finals Bar Edition; Happy Hour Media Near Front Market Outpost; The Hookers Are Happy

 SUNDAY BULLETS ...

The bar scene near the Front Market corridor should be quite nifty tonight after the Warriors/Cavs game. Either stay away or get a good seat by 7ish.

Many of ABC/ESPN's elite broadcast and business execs are staying at the W and might cause a little stir at the ground-level bar.

The call girls are delirious.

*Monday is the 15th. Or, as in Cloud Company land, possible excavate dates which will help explain the anxiety level at 755 Battery.

*The typical Ronnnnnnn female caller: 45ish, voted for Hillary, lives quietly in Pleasanton and whose first husband looks a lot like George H. W. Bush.

*KGO-TV : bedlam in the sales department.

*CNBC: beautiful new studios at One Market. Not so beautiful: the excess tickets courtesy of the SF Parking ticklers --someone from 30 Rock is pissed off.

*I know about Harry's and Lefty O Doul's in the city for Hoffbrau. You guys forgot Oaks Card Club in Emeryville which has a decent corned-beef and pastrami but the place is too clean and bright for me. I like dark.

*Me and Becky Easy will be at the game tonight--since I have a press credential I can needle Stephen A. Smith in person.

*Funny, Yahoo!'s Mark Spears doing simultaneous post-game commentary for KGO-TV and KRON.

*Lee Housekeeper: Don't be ashamed to admit you scope out this site regularly --everyone else does.

*BREAKING NEWS! Ben Fong-Torres never met a radio-station press release he didn't like.

*Am I the only person in town repulsed to see every hipster chef have 14,000 tattoos on their body? Two words: Screw 'em!

*Tommy's Joynt Thursday can't miss: lamb shanks, rice, mixed vegetables and 2 Guinness pints to wash it all down. Checkmate.

*Can we 86 the supremely stupid "On Assignment" note when the various Giants tonsils are away? This is not Sacramento.

*By the way, I like Sacramento. I've been seduced by countless 40-something female narcs at the Capitol Hyatt Regency.

*Stan the commentator: he's just a quiet manic-depressive media critic. Leave him alone...Meanwhile, Stan, as I've said in the past: tone it down until Summer arrives, you're beginning to annoy me again and while I laugh at your takes every now and then, you also scare the shit out of me too. Go watch a dirty movie and eat a tuna sandwich for god's sake.

*Thinks his fecal matter doesn't stink: Tim Kawakami. Tim, 1, it's still the toy department, 2. you can't write like Scott Ostler and 3., Mark Purdy still makes more money than you do.

*Speaking of money, KNBR. Warriors and Giants cashpot Spring: $5M --that's a lot of 808-KNBR's.

  1. I don't allow my family to drink alcohol or be around hookers.

  2. Always good to see a hooker make a honest buck in SF, for as Bob Wilkins once said, "Hookers in Berkeley?!? Mooooo!!!"

  3. Who is doing the Giant broadcast on knbr 680
never heard either voice before. Sounds like a national broadcast?

    1. 'Twas Doug Greenwald (Hank's son, sounds just like Hank without the corny humor) with former Giant Randy Winn. Flemm and Jon must have been "on assignment."

    2. Murph and Mac said Flemm was working with ESPN and Jon was attending his father's funeral.

  4. 100,000% agree about the tattooed hipster cooks/chefs. Worse if there are piercings.

  5. The description of the typical female caller to Ronn is puzzling. The majority of your description leads me to believe you're making a reference to a conservative Christian women, typically have done well for themselves and their family, and were ablle to afford to live in Pleasanton. However, you then describe her as having a "first husband". That scream liberal woman on her 2nd or 3rd husband. Also, I've always seemed to notice that the women that called into Ronn's show were liberal, democratic and dingy.

    Oh well, go DUBS.

  6. Rich I haven't said it in awhile but I hope your mom is doing well. I pray my mother is able to live as long as your mom has. God bless her !

  7. Agree about the tattoos. I don't call it body art; I call it body graffiti, because that's what it is. You wouldn't permanently mark up the outside walls of your house, so why your own skin? It's long overdue for that fad to be over. I can't wait until the day when someone says, "You're still getting tattoos? That's, like, so early 21st century!"

  8. Tommy's Joynt sold to new owners. Promised to stay the same per sales agreement. Yeah, right, just like Spenger's...

  9. Kawakami is an insecure little man with a chip on his shoulder. Shared an elevator with him at the SJ Arena to the media section years ago. Plus he drives a BMW from another douchy experience.

    1. Kawakami's analysis is usually brutally accurate and explains what might be happening behind the scenes (e.g., 49ers and Harbaugh). Ostler is clever and humorous. Purdy writes to create a story--an angle.

    2. Yes, Tim is usually accurate and good.

  11. Richard, will you partake on any of the proceedings at the W and report back? I fantasize that you're in Stephen A Smith's limo showing him the REAL SF baby! Cheers

  12. Hope you called out Screamin' A like he should be called out, Rich. CSNBA is kicking KGO-TV's tail as far as postgame coverage goes, especially with the press conferences, although props to Katie Marzullo for showing a much different side compared to Rich's earliest critiques. I enjoyed her smile-laden report tonight. But still, CSNBA won big tonight, and have all Finals long.

  13. Ronn's typical caller is not 45. Ronn's typical on-air caller might be because of KGO directive by Renee Bakos to all talk hosts to "keep old people off the air." Ronn agrees with it. They always make sure the older callers don't get air time. I'm sure that makes Ronn feel young.

  14. Hey?!?! I like Tim Kawakami, way more than I like "I'm always right Mark Purdy!" He was the main south bay media type that was hyping up the Niners move to the South Bay Hinterland, way back in 2006, I can't stand the dude...

  15. About the "hipster" chef:

    Don't forget the requisite "Man-bun."

  16. About Benny Fong: He also loves himself very much. This self-proclaimed SF radio genius has a ton of the word "I" in his vocabulary bag. He'll never take anyone on. He'll get his nose up people's butts. I guess that makes him an expert.
