Told to me by a former ABC Executive:
"It was purely business. They (ABC) aren't going to pay network compensation dollars for no saleable audience and "crappy" clearance. Read the former as KGO having no saleable audience in target demographics.
Read the latter as KGO only taking the first two minutes of the hourly newscast, and not carrying the newscasts at all during the Mon-Fri talk shows."
