Yeah, It's Raining Like Hell And The Storm Watch Is In Full Throttle Mode; Weather Orgasm; KRON/KCBS/KNBR Off The Air But Back On; Bennett From KRON To LA; KTVU Issues; 415 TEAM COVERAGE Thursday Starter

 Good Morning.

Well, aren't they so GIDDY! Were they not only a few weeks ago commiserating about the on-going drought? Yeah, I know we need, like, 200,000 days of rain to "just to be at average" level, oh just stuff it.

Marin looks like an ocean now. Maybe they really "don't need all the rain." (How many times have you heard that phrase in the last three years?

I don't need weather lectures either so please don't start going all-Al Roker on me. There's a fair chance the STORM DESK will be in auto-pilot--we're being hit hard by the heavens. The BLUE JACKETS have invaded Marin. Catch them in Mill Valley with the pissed-off business owners who are being flooded as we talk....Que Live Shot: "Hey, get behind the sandbags!"

EARLY NOTES: Both KCBS and KNBR were off the air for a good amount of time Thursday morning, KNBR at least 10 minutes, KCBS right around there--KRON went off the air but few people know it.

*Jacqueline Bennet, I'm told by a few spies, is better than a 50-50 chance, going down to the peacock in LA, soon becoming KRON Weatherwoman South. We'll let you know as we keep on it.

*LAYOFFS: KTVU, We're waiting for the specifics but sources tell us it will be massive and imminent.

  1. So that's ten more minutes of commercials KNBR will have to sneak in today. I was wondering if something was up when the "top of the hour" sports update was still going on when I made the mistake of tuning in at 8:10, but chalked it up to the amount of ShaneCo, DGDG, Kars 4 Kids, Sleeptrain and Kaiser Permanente ads that likely preceded it.

    1. KNBR wasn't off the air. Murph had to take a steamer and silent Paulie took over the show.

  2. There is an enormous storm battering the Bay Area. Schools are shutdown, creeks are overflowing, there's flooding all over the place, trees are falling, transportation is total mess...

Why is Rich Lieberman so angry that local news outlets are covering this very important ongoing story? That's their job.

  3. Here's your video of the day, Rich:

  4. Is Lieberman saying that because we are in the middle of an ongoing drought there's no reason to be concerned about a massive winter storm that's causing flooding, major disruptions, property damage to the entire bay area?

The storm is a serious threat to public welfare that deserves the public's attention. Somehow this is all lost on Mr. Lieberman who seems annoyed by anything and everything our local broadcasters do or don't do.

    1. Rich Lieberman complains about WHATEVER the local media does or doesn't do. That's his thing.

But when he complains about local media reporting important news that deserves to be reported he seems foolish and childish.

    2. I can picture Dick Lieberman getting outraged at local coverage of the next big earthquake. He will say: "I've known for the last 26 years that the big one will come any minute but now the local media is all giddy reporting from what used to be the Marina!!".

  5. Team coverage... it keeps people employed?

  6. Jackie Bennet might as well have reported "Ice Storms" on the news set yesterday. I get the feeling she can hardy wait to give that last day middle finger to maybe more then one person at KRON.
I will be watching for further developments.

    1. I noticed her iciness on Monday at 11pm. She, Moore and the Bloated one didn't do any of the usual banter and the Bloated one kept his hands to himself...

  7. Someone tell Jackie that they pronounce (correctly) Rincon differently down there. Don't want to sound like an outsider.

    1. How can she be an outsider? She's from Southern California!

      SOUND like an outsider.
      Sheesh, reading comprehension at all?

  8. Experiencing this gully washer of a storm makes me think the happiest retired person in the Bay Area may be Lloyd LaCuesta. Seems he was always out in the field reporting on bad weather conditions for KTVU. Hope he's indoors enjoying a nice hot cocoa today!

    1. Spot on! Whenever I think of LaCuesta, I picture him with a yellow rain jacket holding on for dear life as the rain and wind tried their best to blow him off camera.

    2. I'll second the posts at 10:41 and 11:23.
Vivid memories of LaCuesta in the Santa Cruz mountains, circa 1981&1982.

    3. They always sent out Rigo Chacon on those bad weather stories too.

  9. Was Bill Martin Forced to Sleep Overnight at 2 Jack London Square as his Suit is in a Dire Need of a Immediate Pressing--BTW KRON is still off the air!!

  10. This ain't no Super Storm, but yes, it is quite rainy and has been that way for hours.
Glad I don't have to drive in it. Of course I'm stranded in my apartment anyway, since my leg is in a plaster cast after foot surgery. So here I sit brokenharted....

    1. I heard it described as "the storm of the century".

    2. Well, I guess all of those heavy rains in the early '80s, 1986, and the mid '90's were in the last century.

  11. Is there any more to Lieberman than sitting back and belittling the local media for whatever it is that they do?

A big destructive storm is big news. Many of us are affected. Yet Lieberman dismisses it all with snarky comments. Seems like Lieberman can't see beyond his own near hatred of the local media.

  12. How Funny. All the talk shows were preempted for storm coverage. No View,or Hoda or Wendy Williams. YET!..KPIX couldn't stop "The Price is Right"..as cars stalled in pools of muddy water.
Must be some explanation there. I don't know what it is.
Oh yeah, KRON has been off the air and is STILL of the air at 12:45 more or less.

    1. 1:30 KRON is on the air- no sound or any movement. Just a still graphic with a scrawl running under it.
Do not look to KRON in the event of a nuclear war.

    2. What is Stan going to do if he can't watch Radnich on KRON tonight? Stan is addicted to Radnich. Can Stan live without him? Stay strong Stan.

Remember Stan, you can always watch rebroadcast of Radnich Comcast/KNBR simulcast later tonight on Comcast.

    3. Stan needs to watch Gary on KRON so he can complain about Gary's alleged groping of Pam Moore, Jacqueline Bennett, and Catherine Heenan.

      Delete
    4. Yeah, particularly since Stan and Catherine Heenan are friends, according to Stan.

    5. Gee,"everybody" saying the same thing over and over and over. lol. Like one person who really gets angry at my quotes of what Radnich says. Now,who would get that angry?..lol.I have no idea..hee..phhhff!

  14. So when's the next earthquake!

  15. Stan was found in a rain filled gutter, convulsing, and clutching an 8X10 glossy of Gary Radnich. He was given a change of clothes and some hot cocoa. Then he was put to bed.
