20 Questions; Does Radnich Drink? Why Is Copeland Defending Bill Cosby?; Is Kate Scott Still A Moron? Michael Savage Downturn; Friday Midday

 1. Does Gary Radnich drink? Only orange soda mostly, but no, nothing alcoholic although occasionally he sounds drunk like today when he said that mostly people like drunks attend the Guardsmen luncheon.

2. Why does KNBR not offer an on-air disclaimer that it pays weekly guest, Greg Cosell? We'll first off, Cosell is one of the few paid guests that are entertaining, even so, KNBR should tell its listeners they give Cosell money, just like they should tell their listeners they've been paid to put on a betting shill once a week. Then again, it's KNBR, and they really need the money--that's why they shove nearly 40 minutes of commercials in an hour down your throat.

3. Why is Brian Copeland the ONLY person in the world defending Bill Cosby? Because Copie has a vested interest in kissing Coz' ass since he's been on Copie's show and Copie opens for him even though Cosby's TV shows and comedy gigs have been getting canceled en masse lately. Note to Copie: since your program last Sunday another five women have come out and made detailed accusations against the Cos, yeah it's all a conspiracy, genuine man.

4. Do you still think Kate Scott is a moron? Yeah, she still sucks, anything else?

5. Do you still like Michael Savage? Savage has reverted to the old political radio model that doesn't work: the constant, boring barrage of anti-Obama, Obama, Obama talk which isn't successful and tires easily. He's also spent the better part of three months using his radio show to promote his book, bash Obama, and promote his book. It's a good reason why his ratings are way, way down and he's in a near-record funk. See, I can rip Savage for those of you that think I'm a Savage kiss-ass. Not.

6. What happened to Ted Ramey on KNBR; wasn't he the guy that started the union movement? We'll, that's a good question, I haven't heard Ramey although I'm not all ears on the sports bleeder as much as I used to.

7. Who's your favorite Bay Area TV Sports Anchor? In order, Mark Ibanez and Larry Beil. I've always liked Mark because he can write and Beil has warmed on me more because he has a very sly and dry sense of humor.

8. What's your opinion of KTVU weatherman, Bill Martin? I think Bill has become tired-looking and in that, I don't mean to be disrespectful just giving an honest take. He used to look and sound energetic and have a sense of humor about his--now it looks like he just comes in and does his thing and takes off. Could be a faze too, we're all not immune to such situations.

9. Who's the most underrated TV anchor in the Bay Area? Several choices there. I like Anne Makovec on KPIX--she's very solid and consistent in a very understated way. Ken Wayne has always been a favorite of mine and has been doing great on the weekends over at KTVU but you rarely hear his name spouted. Ann Notarangelo quietly does her job very well on PIX. Oh, Terry McSweeney is pretty solid too on KNTV, (NBC Bay Area).

10. Why does Radnich always talk about family and having kids makes you responsible, blah, blah, blah, it becomes sort of repetitive. Because when you have nothing else to your repertoire, you can repeat the same old shit and get away with it.

11. Do you listen to Gil Gross? No, that ship has sailed.

12. Can you become an Insider on CSNBA? No, they only used people who suck a lot of Giants ass and have very inoffensive people on their talk shows. It's a very successful business model if you like white people and a few token yappers who say nothing of substance and look like Fresno insurance reps.

13. Does The Game have any hope? Not really, but in the sense of will they last?, yes because Entercom has deep enough pockets to just survive and make the best go of it here--they keep changing programs but since nobody is listening it doesn't really matter. It's pretty much Damon Bruce and a few doughnuts.

14. Who's the single-most talented anchor in the Bay Area?: Easy, hands down, Dan Ashley. Dan gets a lot of flack because he seems so perfect, so immaculate but that's only because he's so steady and good.

15. What do you think of Greg Papa? I have consistently said I like Greg Papa--in terms of preparation and knowledge, he knows the NFL and in particular, he knows the Raiders--I do think his "Touchdownnnnnnnnnnn Raiders" call goes overboard at times when the game is outta hand--he's better now but he's not that great.

16. Can KGO Radio ever become, through time, the old KGO Radio? No, never, not even remotely possible --in fact, impossible.

17. You're kind of hard on Gasia Mikaelian. Yeah, I am but not like everyone thinks--like Heather Holmes, I just don't get all the attention.

18. Do you ever get freebies from Tommy's Joynt? No, but I should.

19. Who is the hottest woman on Bay Area TV News? Tie between Vicki Liviakis and Christin Ayers.

20. How do those obnoxious True-Car ads appear on radio so much? Money, lots of it.

  1. 6. Nothing happened to Ted Ramey on KNBR.

Lieberman's question is nothing more than an attempt to create the false impression Ramey has been punished for his pro union position.

    1. Ted's over on 1050 in Damon's old slot. Not a bad show. Definitely prefer it over Chuckles and Co...

    2. I had reservations about Ted Ramey initially but he has come into his own as a talk show host. Is able to carry the noon time slot with aplomb.
A welcomed relief over the Warrior cheerleader at 680.

  2. Rich, you've never been kiss-ass with Savage. Just honest and nuanced, like life itself. I agree with your assessment. Savage is in a rut and it sucks. I took him off Podcast Republic app and don't listen anymore. I'm sick of hearing how he timed his book to change America and to pull it out from whatever impending crisis he is warning us about, like a Civil War? He takes himself far too seriously, and Michael, no, you are not a sage or a prophet as you read about in The Old Testament. On some shows, you've been bordering on delusions of grandeur. I've been listening to him since 1998 when I ran a news department a station that ran his show.

The Genuine Black Man in Denial. Copie, Copie, Copie. Defending Cosby? Really? Now, Cosby's attorney is attacking some of the accusers, bringing up their character flaws, addictions and even criminal history. That said, all of us are flawed, and just because some of the women in this controversy may be flawed, does not mean they are lying. Plus, I'd be interested to find out if their problems occurred AFTER ALLEGEDLY (ALLEGEDLY, ALLEGEDLY) being sexually assaulted by pull-your-pants-up man.

Rich has Copeland pegged. Copie, you owe it to people to come clean on how much you make from opening up for the non-funny man and how much you stand to lose if all his gigs dry up. I have never been impressed with Cosby as a comedian, but that's just me, and I realize he is or was super famous and respected.

Lastly, Copie, anyone who frequents the Playboy Mansion is a sicko in my eyes. Call me old-fashioned, but that is just pure creepy. Copie, do you want to be known as Creepy Copeland for being Cosby's lackey?

Agree with you Rich about Kate Scott. BARF. Gag me. I'll never forget when she told the two dumb-bells on air that they ought to see the "pair" that she goes home to each night. I just rolled my eyes. Why are gay radio personalities (Karel) so fascinated with having to tell us all about their sexual/gender preferences? So you are gay. Who gives a duck? Keep your private lives private.

Rich, if you go behind a pay wall, how much would you be charging a year? Keep up the good work.

  3. Copie aka Byron Allen has had Cosby on his show several times and just lets Cosby tell the same old stale stories. Never interrupts the guy at all and constantly kisses his ass. I'm not surprised he's still defending him after all the revelations. Most black folks are even turning on Cosby for his constant put downs of "the black community".
As to Savage, his ratings have dropped so much that instead of the Savage Nation we should call it the Savage Village. I'm a proud Marxist and used to enjoy his show but his constant book peddling and 24/7 predictable Obama bashing is booooring. Dude should just retire. Irrelevant!!!

  5. During the Giants parade Gasia gushed to Bill Martin "Its so nice that your here" or some variation like "with me". She looked at him like he was her boyfriend.

  6. Brian told a compelling story last week on his show about how, he says, he was falsely accused of rape and that the same thing could be happening to his friend and mentor. I do recall that Brian and his friend, comic(?) Michael Pritchard worked overtime on the air and with the FBI to get Bernie when Bernie looked at forbidden images on the computer.
I wonder why he's not even more outraged that Barbara Bowman(age 17, a minor and an actual person, not a decades old photo) describes being taken across state lines by Bill Cosby for the purposes of illicit and drugged sex. Everyone says the various statutes of limitations have expired and that none of these women can sue, so they have nothing financial to gain. It's true that the state statutes of limitation on criminal rape charges or civil actions have run. There was one civil lawsuit and thirteen women were scheduled to testify. The case was settled so no testimony. There is, however, another avenue of redress. Federal child sex trafficking statutes don't have the statute of limitations problems. If Bowman, or any other victim was was underage can show that Cosby transported them across state lines for sex(evidence..old plane ticket, room service chit, other prescient witnesses like Bowman's agent) then he certainly could be prosecuted, even convicted, and incarcerated. I just remember Brian being so out of his mind about anyting involving sex and Bernie and forbidden computer images of children. Another curiosity about the Cosby story, most of the women were in their teens or early twenties and caucasian. Do you think Cosby had to drug them so they wouldn't actually see something warty about his reproductive equipment? Maybe Cosby will come on the Copeland show and not talk about any of this? stay tuned.

    3. Thank you Christine for remembering how this jerk and disingenuous black "man" Copeland attacked Ward. News just broke that another live venue just cancelled another Cosby show in addition to Vegas and Tucson. Yet another example Charles Barkley is right telling folks not to look up to celebrities or athletes as role models. Bunch of fake ass s*it. Cosby on his high horse has been knocked down a few notches and it is good to see.

    5. 3:22 thinks it's just de riguer to drug underage girls and rape them..Cosby's mug is loaded with ugly warts. I can't imagine anyone finding that attractive. The current story is that he was in the habit of drugging and raping underage and barely legal white girls. If you are drugged and can't actually see the appendage at question..it's more difficult to nail the rapist..pretty smart there coz!

    11. There shouldn't be any statute of limitations on poisoning someone's drink and then molesting them...

OTOH, what does it say about these women that they didn't come forward before and kept quiet and took hush money? Some even kept dating him after being molested. WTF?

  10. I normally don't listen to Copeland. But, last weekend I expected him to be talking about this good buddy Cosby. Just as I expected he will defend the rapist to the very end. I am sure there will be other Women coming forward with more stories. I'll listen to Copeland a little this coming weekend to see if he has changed his tune. Probably not.

I still listen to Gil Gross most days, at least the first couple of hours. What the hell else is there to listen to at 3:00? I get up at 6:00 every morning and turn on the radio via my computer. I listen to news and then to Ronn Owens. Then more news and then Gil. I like to listen to stations that if I jump in the car to go someplace I can continue to listen in the car. I live in Elk Grove and refuse to listen to any of the awful local Sacramento stations. That means in the car I get 810 and 910. I have tried the other 910 programs. Armstrong and Getty I don't find interesting and I am way to Liberal to be a fan anyway. I gave Ed Baxter a try and his show is boring. He just reads the news I have read about a few hours before. Cory and Joel? They are the worst program on radio. They remind me of two 12 year old Girls that snuck into the parents booze cabinet. Then Gil comes on. I really, really wish he was still taking calls like the old days, but that isn't the case. I listen for a couple of hours.

  14. For the life of me, I can't figure out your hard-on for Kate Scott. She's a bit player on the local media scene, but with all the ink you give her one would think she was big time. Whether you think she's good or bad at her job, it's a SMALL job after all... don't you have bigger fish to fry?

    1. My point exactly. I'm puzzled by the constant attacks on Kate Scott. Who in her current position would make Rich happy? Daffy Duck wasn't any better. Nobody can out shout the bloated one and his lounge act. Even the great Tony Bruno would get shouted down by Fatnitch. It's a no win position for anybody!

      Delete
    2. I don't know about Rich, but I can't stand that blowhard skank because she always interrupts good segments and callers with her self-centered I-don't-care-about-history bullshit. Hey Kate, someday you'll meet your rockin chair too! Also, her attempts to imitate Radnich are lame. When she was yelling at him about jinxing the Giants, it was clear it was a thin veneer of "showbiz" over the actual reality of her hatred and vitriol. She's bad radio, and though technically a "bit player", she soils about every segment (except for the occasional ones that she's not on, like Fran Tarkenton).

      Delete
    3. Daffy Duck used to do the same thing! I find it amusing that @9:24 gets upset about Scott's "interruptions" when The Bloated one is notorious for interrupting callers, co-hosts and back in the day even Bruno on a comedic roll. I haven't listened in years but now I might just to hear Fatsnitch get interrupted for a change.

    5. In my opinion the perfect mix was when Ray Woodson was the sidekick. It was the only person that Radnich seemed to have any respect for. There was good chemistry there. They should have made him the permanent second-banana.

  15. 'The Game' just hired a new morning crew and moved Chris Townsend back to doing the A's pre and post game shows. Will it make a difference in the ratings? Doubt it. Rich you should post the video from that sports radio show on a station in Chicago that happened just a few days ago. The two guys hosting the show find out the station is going out of business in a month, and they learn that everyone was going to be fired during a break while reading about it on Twitter! A new low in broadcasting.

    1. The A's must have renewed their contract with KGMZ if 95.7 has plans for the pre & post game. So 7 different people have made up the morning show this year. Now 3 new guys have been hired. If the ratings are so good (according to the PD) why all the changes?

  17. Regarding .14; Dan Ashley works very hard at earning the respect of his audience. A very admirable quality.. Just a bit too animated and sometimes tries too hard.. 19. Even though Pam Moore and KRON on air people have obviously been told to cut out the on air touching...After a lull,Gary Radnich is giving the higher ups the mid mid finger by again, reaching out to feel Pam Moore's arm.
