Michael Savage has a best-selling book out and has been doing a lot of promotion on both his KSFO radio show and others.
He also complained Wednesday that Fox News has blackballed him from their cable channel and wondered aloud why they haven't had him on their shows. After all, Savage is known as a leading conservative radio host and his book centers on, what Savage predicts is the coming political civil war.
I have a theory about Savage's blackball treatment at Fox News. I think, and this doesn't require brain surgery, that Sean Hannity, a Fox News host, doesn't really like the SF-based syndicated talker and that is why he doesn't appear on Roger Ailes' network.
This might explain why. And this guy is a good friend of Hannity which doesn't help.
And this doozy on Bill O'Reilly doesn't help either. Of course O'Reilly and Savage have a history of this and it all should be perfectly clear to Savage that his frequent bashing of his contemporary critics might preclude him from plugging books even if the book is on its way to the NY Times best-seller list.

If you would stopping fawning overr Savage, you'd understand why Ailes doesn't he doesn't want or need Savage on Fox Snooze Channel. Savage had no ratings in major markets, including SF, NY, Chicago, Dallas, Reno, and so many markets. That's #1.
ReplyDelete#2, Cumulus has killed talk radio. Savage is milking you as a pawn in desperation as the Cumulus ship dinks. Book and all.
Its propogandist like this blogger realize what fool he is for hanging on in ass kissing Savage who has proven his non-legitamate lack of value. Let him go back to make Monster energy drink and enoy his millions. His talk desperation is now long behind Mr. Savage and Cumulus. No wonder he didn't get offered on Premiere Networks and/or iHeart Media (Clear Channel.) Move on and don't get caught up in the kiss-my-ass-I'll-on-yours mentality, Rich. You have better, more meatier topics on local media to cover. Savage has run his distance -- into the ground.
Savage won't tow the GOP party line, just like Levin. Fox sees their opinions as poisoning the well. No conservative worth his weight wants anything to do with the republican party as it stands today.
ReplyDeleteNow if we could encourage Savage to leave his post nasal drip and food chewing off an open mic, he might be worth listening too. Giving up his stupid discussions about music and meatballs might boost his ratings too.
Is he willing to pay Fox to appear on their shows to promote his new book?
ReplyDeleteWhy have him on then?
Mike Sa-Vaage can be his own worst enemy. For years Mike has criticized, ridiculed, parodied, and dumped on other conservative talkers. Mike has burnt his bridges long ago, and his peers are not listening to him very closely. There were times in the past where Mike would out do Keith Olberman or Special Ed when it came to slandering other conservatives. The best evidence that Mike Savage has pushed away almost all feelings of friendship and loyal support of other talkers was when he was barred from entering Britain due to his uncompromising talk on radical muslims. Almost no fellow conservative voiced any support or defense of his position. In fact, the topic barely came up at all, unless prompted by callers. Savage is a one of a kind talent, but from what I hear, he is extraordinarily pompous, and very difficult to get along with.
ReplyDeletePlease stop writing about this dysfunctional, egotistical blowhard, will you Rich? The man is a first class ass, and he thinks the sun rises and shines on his butt! He likes to take shots at everyone, but the guy ought to look in the mirror. He's one of the most miserable human beings I've ever met in the industry, and is not liked or respected by any of his co workers. He's abusive to the "little people' who work for him, which is a good indication of what a jerk he really is. He's also mean-spirited and reminds me very much of that character that Eric Boghosian played years ago in the movie 'Talk Radio.' I don't know how any clear headed American can take a shred of what this guy says, and put any credence into it.
ReplyDeleteNailed it. I'm a full fledged Marxist and would tune in to the Garbage Nation for fun. Quality is way down now. So much so that at noon I've been tuning in to that small town right wing hack Charlie Friedman on KSCO. Garbage man has attacked everyone so now he's standing alone talking to himself.
DeleteI say, lets pour salt on that slug Savage and watch him melt into a foam.
ReplyDeleteFox News has enough jews on their channel.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need to see one more.
8.20PM, That's enough with your anti-Jew talk. That tone is frowned upon over here. Besides, most of us Catholics admire the Jews because they value education, set goals for themselves and use humor as a method of survival.. Not all do, but many. You will find your Schmucks, Dumkofs and Bobbleheads in any ethnicity.
DeleteWhat an anti semitic comment, besides Savage does not like to identify himself as Jewish, guess he is only half jewish, when I first heard him years ago, he sounded quite anti semitic, but after 9/11 I guess he switched to Muslims, now he is a big supporter of Israel. Frankly, I don't really know where the man stands, I do agree with several comments above, he is difficult to get along with (have heard that from many sources including someone who knew him personally) he is much too full of himself, and he likes to insult people. As for enough Jews on Fox, just who are you referring too, Hannity and O'Reilly is not Jewish, guess Mike Wallace is, Brit Hume is not, suppose some of the blond anchor ladies might be Jewish, don't really know since I don't watch Fox, except for Mike Wallace on Sundays.
DeleteWhy is he complaining? He was on with the other lunatic Alex Jones today. They're a laughingstock. Listening to them talk to each other is a hoot. Both morons think Obama will not step down from the presidency. Hey Rich, are you taking notes? Why don't you report that your buddy Savage is predicting Obama will anoint himself as a lifetime president?
ReplyDeleteOf course Fox News won't have him on--he bashes their hosts! It's funny because very early in both his and Bill O'Reilly's careers, the two had a fairly amicable relationship, with each one making appearances on the other's shows. Then Bill O'Reilly took exception to the Swift Boat veterans attacking John Kerry's service during the Vietnam War, and that set Savage off. Bill O'Reilly invited him on his now defunct radio show to talk about his criticism with the Fox News host, but Savage wouldn't come on. That was 10 years ago, and thing have gotten worse since.
ReplyDeleteSavage and the other bloviating windbag liars pump out books of nonsense at a ridiculous rate. Now he's upset that the network that speaks directly to the ill-informed audience who will shell out $30 a piece to read his garbage won't let him on to try and hock it? They have enough of their own hosts also writing blatant lies to sell to idiots. Meanwhile, the people who read any of these books walk away even less aware of what is actually happening in America.
ReplyDeleteYou know what I predict about Michael Savage? I predict that within ten, fifteen years, somebody will compose a musical or a rock opera about Michael. He is that much larger than life. Willie Brown would be another good subject. Either man would intervene with the results so that the premiere may never happen until it's a post mortem situation, where they cannot do any more last minute editting.
ReplyDeleteLet's face it: America is chock full of dangerously misinformed, lazy, self-indulgent people. We are physically isolated from the rest of the world, with a sleepy third world country to our immediate south and a quiet, low key neighbor to our north.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have the direct contact with what much of the rest of the world is going through, so we are always a little deluded or misinformed about things.
Americans have gotten more increasingly lazy, both physically and mentally over the last 15 years. How many dangerously obese people now live in this country? They consume junk food and soda in epidemic proportions. Then they get sick, and crowd our hospitals and health facilities, causing our health plan coverages to sky rocket because of their foolish bad habits.
And how often have you walked down a street in downtown SF and observe how many people are staring at tiny screens, wearing ear buds, their fingers flying over their tiny keyboards as their merrily text, tweet, facebook, and instagram their 'friends?' I wonder if they're even aware of their immediate physical surroundings?
For any one of them to actually consider learning something about the art of conversation with another living human being is a radical idea for many of them!
It's really very sad, and is reflective of an American society that is unfortunately on the wain and has seen its best days come and go.
Given 8:22's comment (which is all true -- I heard the same broadcast), why is anyone even talking about this guy? Is there anything he could say that would make his admirers say, "I'm done!"? If Ebola were critical thinking, Savage would have no worries because he's completely immune.
