Are You Mad As Hell And Not Going To Take It Anymore? Blast-Away Thursday on 415 Media

You Can't Take It Anymore? Terrific, here's your chance to tell the Bay Area media society what you're thinking. Be original, be clean and let it all out.

It's good to vent.

They're listening to you.

Fire away.

  1. Maybe David Cameron can solve this NFL problem by coming over to the States and crying about it! at this rate, who's going to be left to play football, Rich and Billy Sunshine?

  2. Great movie. Recently bought it on bluray. They don't make them like that anymore.

    2. I remember seeing it in a theater when I was a college kid and thinking how outlandish it was. None of that could ever happen with our hallowed news media. Boy was I wrong. All one has to do is look at the shenanigans that take place on the morning news shows, especially ABC. It's like the Jimmy Kimmel Show, AM Edition.

    3. When it came out that's exactly what a lot of the critics said--good movie but too far over the top to make its point. Now it's almost a documentary. Indeed I've seen that sort of behavior from many a KRON manager in my time.

    4. It's been running on one of the movie channels and I've watched it a couple of times this week.
Still one of the greatest movies ever and for those of us who worked in TV news it rings all too true. When I worked at ABC Hollywood KABC had an astrologer on the morning news.
      Right on Paddy.
BTW there's an excellent book about the making of Network.

  4. I'm still waiting for a good writer to create a three act play based on Chapadquidick; Ted Kenedy's Waterloo. They could have a greek chorus bathed in yellow and pink lights, as they voice out loud the turmoil of his inner thoughts, joking, enticing and deceiving him to act, to take, to acquire like the royalty he has been raised to believe he is. The Chorus, now shrouded in blue and purple tones, would then speak for society, screeching loudly in chastisement for his numerous and uncorrectable 'misteps' that follow and haunt him each of his remaining days.

  6. I hate the local sports media. Who was the only one in 2010 to say- Lincecum had issues with his weight? And we can all guess what "hobby" ends your appetite.Who was the first in the country to catch ESPN in Lin slurs?..me. I said Huff had problems too..long before he admitted it. I said Joe Lacob's stadium over the bay would never be built- allowed,on the same day he did his presentation. Nobody else in sports writing said that...what do they know about the environmental movement? nothing at all. Monte Ellis- JaMarcus Russell..only me to go into the real issues.
I made predictions...the Giants would win in 2010- and Raddy and the Kawakami kid both on kron said "The Padres have it sown up"...lol once again.
And go back ...see if you can find one single local writer who said trading Cespedes was a horrid trade the day it happened. Killion and the K Kid say its a great trade..Sue Slusser- MT2 said it was a brilliant trade. Even now. oof- Thats head in sand territory. Beane lover land.
Well,I said it was the worst trade Beane ever made.
I have been right on media ,politics...all down the line. And the local media blocks me!...the Chron, the Mercury. Block me because I'm right. Newspapers blocking the truth..amazing. I have the track record. Better then anybody they pay. And their reaction is corporate through and through.
    How can I respect them? I don't!
I'm mad as all get out,and I'm not going to receive their ignorance anymore.

    3. ha!..I wake up and see the sports page: "Former Raiders say it was a mistake to fire Hue Jackson". Again, who when it happened said that was a HUEge mistake? ONLY ME!..no writers who are paid, said that. Dennis Allen? made me laugh ha,ha, to see him paraded as coach.
There are so many times,I called something...myself alone. And is local media giving me their angry inch of credit? Never. If they are that tiny minded, then take the Stan wrath!

    4. I think they can not only take the Stan wrath, but it provides a welcome bit of humor in their day...

      Delete
    5. "There are so many times,I called something...myself alone. And is local media giving me their angry inch of credit?"

One of Stan's problem might be that he "called" all these things HIMSELF ALONE. No one gets credit for claiming afterwards that they "called" something in the absence of any objective evidence that they did.so beforehand.

Otherwise you just end up sounding like a paranoid crackpot proclaiming you're right about everything and no one gives you the credit you deserve.

      Delete
    6. Stan, you need to understand that you are not a member of the media. You are the town idiot who spouts incoherent thoughts - 'Alex Smith is not a good quarterback, the sky is blue, et al.' "See, remember I said that." There is a reason you have been blocked by web sites (including this one). You have your own, so use it for your drivel. Oh wait, nobody reads your site, so your only action is to clutter other's comments sections.

    7. Amen to everything Anon@10:59 just wrote.

Stan's various claims sound crazy and are crazy. I'm no psychiatrist but when a person starts proclaiming that he ALONE is right about everything but no one gives him the credit he deserves, that's a big red flag.

    8. I do think that Lieberman publishes crazy Stan's crazy comments for the express purposes of generating comments from others who react to Stan's lunacy and the increasingly crazy responses from Stan.

No one ever agrees with Stan but he vociferously defends himself regardless of how ridiculous his defense may be.

In that sense Stan is "entertaining" but should we really be laughing at the village idiot and should Lieberman be publishing Stan's comments for that purpose?

    9. 1054 takes the lowest road, denial, and some others do "we dont remember" Sure, just like 1059 doesn't remember what I said about Alex SMith three years ago..uhuh.
Feb12,2012 BASG,has my post of my hearing the Lin slur on a Saturday ESPN radio show. Its on his website..unless he deleted it.
And 1059 only has to go back to June on 415 Media to find my Cespedes and the A's prediction. Like I see the future.
Rich and Lowell Cohn have seen me do these things over and over...I wrote that I thought Russell had an addictive personality and depression on Lowells Blog and the Chron. A year or two later? I was proven right. Lincecum? proven right.
So if I'm right so very often..what does it say about the person who calls that great observational power...ramblings? Denial!...
I know I'm brilliant. And humble. Its what makes me better then you and a beloved bay area liberal icon. I'm the Beatles of liberal sports opinions.

    10. And go back to Lowell Cohns early posts on Lacobs announcement he was going to build a stadium on the bay. I didnt write on that blog "I think it wont be built" I said "It will never be built". Unequivocally. No dancing. I'm not going to go over 5 years of doing that and where to find it. I mean, you wont even believe what I said in June here when Rich did the Cespedes trade post. "Sink like rocks"...not, be not as good-lol. "SINK LIKE ROCKS!'.

It's the christian thing to do.
Has there been any consideration of a 'permanent vacation', or at least until "IT" is out of the White House? Just askin.

Amazing. Who's delusional? ..lol. You people are nuts!. Even when I pin you people to the mat - you people declare victory and go home.

    15. "Who's delusional?"
Stan, are you trying to ask the question, "Whose delusional?"

Well Stan, if you consider yourself a bay area writer, the answer is obvious.

Writers are able to express themselves coherently and possess minimal grammatical competence, for example understanding the difference between "whose" and "who's." Oh, also they have to be published somewhere beside extraneous comments on various web sties.

Just think- if it had been, no 49ers would be arrested and Kap would carry a Algebra book to interviews instead of Beats -wink-wink.

In 2014 now wise to the world,my calls are much better.

  7. I can't take that you can't get a football score on "The Sports Leader" on the weekends until Marty and his shut-ins are done babbling for 8 hours about a 3 hour baseball game. How about a sports update? I also can't take any more of Tim Kawakami on TV. He's kinda creepy. Doesn't he have enough money for a comb and a decent dress shirt?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. KNBR was all football Saturday until the Giants game that evening. On Sunday they probably figured (since Marty was on, then the Giants), that listeners were there for baseball and that those wanting football news were listening to KGO which that gave scores often during the 49ers pregame and postgame shows.
Don't really understand your whining. Just turn on a station covering football for football scores, not difficult. Or turn on KCBS, scores on the :15 and :45. Short of that, get the Yahoo Sports App, that thing is great. Sends alerts whenever a score changes (you set the teams) and can follow multiple games in real time instead of waiting for an every half hour update.
Cheers and relax. Much more going on to get upset about than not being able to find a score.

As a news junkie, I HATE it when college football pre-empts EVERY news broadcast on TV on week-end evenings........actually, I'm not much of a pro-football fan either - but since I no longer listen to KGOne, they can broadcast football all they want to. And on an unrelated note: PLEASE, KGO TV, DO something with I'm-a-Ditz's hair........just SO unbecoming......

  11. I've watched the Today Show every morning since I was a kid in the early-80s and have always enjoyed it, but it's become completely unwatchable since Meredith Vierra left. They're chasing Good Morning America and have tried to go "younger" -- it's simply become a fake party with a huge blowhard in Al Roker who never shuts his yap. Only the first half hour is worth watching now and even that gets ruined by Carson Daly and the Orange Room crap. 60 Minutes: your turn to self-implode in the interest of chasing a "younger demographic."

  16. My top ten (or bottom ten) picks for worst sportscasters in the Bay Area, and not necessarily in this order: 1.) 'Amy G' 2.) Kate Scott 3.) Daffy Duck (better known as Dan Dibbley) 4.) 'Fatty Fitz' (Bob Fitzgerald) 5.) Zackariah on 'the Game.' 6.) John Lund 7.) Damon Bruce 8.) Rod Brooks 9.) Joe Starkey 10.) 'Pauley' Mac (although he really doesn't count because he's a journeyman FM DJ who was originally cut loose by KFOG as a part timer, then later he was hired full time (because he came cheap), to co-host the morning show on KNBR.

    2. I'd jump Paulie Mac to the front of that crowd --- even though he doesn't claim a whole lotta expertise. Even though PM is on vacation his influence is such that his zany co-host wreaked havoc with his sound affects. After I got out of the car, I tweeted KNBR that it reminded me of the Dr. Don Rose show on KFRC.

  18. It's sad that San Francisco is the center of tech, new media, alternative culture yet our local newspapers (what's left of 'em anyway), radio and television lack any exciting and original content.

Radio imports ass clowns because what we have in our back are nothing more than weeds that need to be culled. Where's the intense scrutiny of City Hall and the Board of Stupidvisors? Hell, we've got one Stupidvisor who is in favor of giving gay men a pill that will promote unsafe sex - that's a four hour call in show right there? With more sports teams than many cities we can't even get exciting coverage. The pinnacle of sports radio - the geriatric, the racist and the other guy - are like nails on a chalkboard.

The papers are not much better. Since Brugmann waved the white flag in his fight with Larkin and Lacey who themselves lost interest but gained a shit load of money we have three crappy cookie cutter papers - to some extent. The Examiner, long since a ghost of its former self could be a daily voice for those not represented and it would not be that difficult - a few pro-SFPD articles and there you have it! The Guardian and Weakly now more than ever prove that the only difference they ever had was the pinko commie ramblings of Brugmann and Redmond and the mind policing "voter guide". Oh yeah, the Weakly had better hookers ads. Plus we never even found out who was biggest. That leaves the Comical. Caen and Hoppe are long gone and somebody should inform Nevius, Carroll, Bauer and the rest of the hacks that they will never hold a candle to the masters and nobody cares about your cats.

The best way I can sum up our local TV efforts is half assed. The best is KRON and that's because they run the MOST not necessarily the best newscasts but at least it is mostly straightforward and gimmick free. The worst is KPIX. Squandering talent and being a newscast if not a day behind on certain stories isn't a winning formula. Let's not forget NightBeat. Its failures have been well documented on this blog and elsewhere so I'll skip most of them. Let's just focus on the biggest mistake. Importing an anchor from the East Coast to host a show aimed at the local tech/hipster crowd. It would have been better to take a local blogger and work on their on camera chops that way there would be a LITTLE credibility instead of looking like the obvious cash grab. Plus Miss Schertz looks like she needs help with her on camera chops. Instead of getting the newly minted millionaires KPIX got the 50 year old trench coat wearing guys who hang around Forever 21 in Serramonte.

The winners will be the ones who can actually throw away the rule book and be brave enough to admit vulnerability to tech. Only when ego is moved aside can the bar be raised.
